    Very Disappointed

may be a possibility that your doctor gets a referral fee so he would lose that if you go to somebody else, just a suggestion - no ill intent intended

    Dukan diet

I'm not too good at tollerating carbs but when i have a fixation in my mind pizza! I eat a good amount and it seems to cure the craving for at least a month. As i say once a week to have something a bit different is what I'm fond of doing.

    Dukan diet

Just on a personal note. I used to see a chiropractor who was also a naturopath. He advocated low carb. He helped a lot of people reverse diabetes, ward off incurable cancer at least for a few years and so forth. He used to work in conjunction with doctors at hospitals. he absolutely forbade anything white as in flour, potatoes, bread and absolutely no fruit. I guess his strong words stick in my head even after 8 years. I lost the most weight when i was under his guidance and also took green supplements and b12 so forth. It can be hard to stick to though. what I strive for now is to stick to that way of eating most of the time (75-80%). He used to tell my sister and i that if we really had to have some of his forbidden foods that we should have it on the weekend and get it out of our system. He retired about 5 years ago - he's about 90 now. His office used to be lined up for hours. he didn't take appointments. You just show up at 5:30 a.m. in the morning or thereafter and wait. It seems there are differing points of views, that's for sure. I like low carb because i don't feel bloated but i do once in a while like to have italian bread, Pasta, nice piece of cake....
  5. thanks Irene, i'm sure somebody will think of how soon. I did try many options as well with no luck.
  6. Hello, i have done a search to see how can I change "registered user" under my photo avatar. I see that other people have some catchy titles under their photos when i look at posts. does anybody know how to do this? did quite a bit of trying on my own but didn't get anywhere. Thanks in advance.

    jaw surgery

I know I will. Dreaming of biting something crunchy, but am enjoying this boost in weight loss. You really don't have that much of an appetite when there is this much pain in the mouth. Can't even have any chunks - no way to bite them at the moment so purely liquefied is the only option.

    jaw surgery

yeah, have been for 13 days now - making nice soups and liquefying them. Will be on liquids for another week and a bit, then on to mushy foods.

    Any old timers still around?

I've experienced this at least 20 - 30 times over the past year and it always ends up being gas. I drink a bit of gingerale and try my hardest to burp until it goes away. That has been my experience. Hope you will get better soon!

    Dukan diet

for me, i'm not really a fanatic when it comes to ways of eating. I like to be able to drop pounds when needed and with me low carb seems to work well. Low calorie does as well but i find i can eat a bit more with low carb and experience the same weight loss. I know for me there always has to be an option to have something like fish and chips or mcdonalds or pizza once a week if i feel like it and i think i will always be that way. I want to finish my weight loss and always be committed to a 5 - 8 pound variable in weight. If i go over that it's quick reduction time again. My weight fluctuated when i experienced some painful things in my life. I am now much stronger and just want to get the weight off with some effort. Before my weight ballooned I was between 125-140 max for years and years. had some painful emotional things happen, broke my ankle (reached highest weight of 204) and gradually came down to 185-187 ,then would go down 10 to 177ish, up 10, down 10, up 10 - no more yo -yo dieting. I decided to get the band. Eventhough i have coasted for most of the time with the band and given a half hearted effort (i wanted to be at goal like 8 months ago) i have lost some weight and not gained anything back and i really like that. If i'm going to yo yo it is going to be in a range of 5 pounds and in the 120s - this is what i want and hope i can achieve. thanks for the input so far from all of you. I hope to hear lots more.

This is one of my most enjoyable posts on LBT - to see people years after their surgery is terribly exciting. I hope some other people look at these posts especially when they fall off the wagon or need a boost. It really has helped me to see this. It also has really helped to come back to this website to continue and finish my weight loss.

    Back problems after fill

I experienced this for quite a while and at different times, after surgery, between fills, after fills. Always seems to come back to gas - but that may just be me. I too suffer from chronic back pain only aided by regular visits to chiropractor.

    Bathroom Problems

Hello there, sounds like you're having a dilly of a time. I have been in same boat with taking tylenol codeine for almost two weeks post op jaw and chin surgery - completely backed up. Tried everything though not the salt water flush. senokot, restoralax, xtra strength exlax, chinese herbal tea, carter's little pills ,nothing worked until "Milk of Magnesia" today! - what a relief :bananajump:
  17. Welcome Missy! Nothing to fear that all of us hasn't experienced here. Gas for a few days after surgery, getting proper fill. I still enjoy whatever food i like just in a smaller quantity including pizza, chips sometimes, mcdonalds sometimes. I have also learned to make my favorite foods with less calories. good luck and check in on the site regularly - the support is fantastic!! this comes from a person who wasn't on the site in months and months and is so reinvigorated about finishing weight loss journey. Just reading all the stories and posts good and bad is helping me to stay focused on what i really got the band for - to end yo yo dieting and to be slim and healthy.

    Stupid scale!

Whenever i have a chance whether it be at the doctor (best place) I weigh myself in my clothes i'm going to wear to the doctor without my shoes. At the doctor I weigh myself to get real weight (i think doctor is the best bet when it comes to this). I compare the 2 weights. I write down my weight from home and write down the weight the doctor gives me. My scale is precisely 2 pounds and 2 ounces more than the doctor's. Hope this helps.

will do. I haven't really had proper restriction yet but will be tenacious about getting it as soon as I am a bit more recovered from my jaw surgery. I go for a fill in 2 weeks.

    smoking

Try to follow the advice given. I am not a heavy smoker but a dedicated one none the less. I smoked up until the operation and as soon as I left after my operation - i had no complications. However I am not a doctor or nurse or any kind of health practitioner. I have now had to quit though because of jaw surgery and am using the patch which seems to be helping. good luck!

    How this works ???

i'm 5 foot 3 inches and 47 years old. At age 40 i was 122 pounds and looked awesome so that is what i am aspiring to. I found i could eat pretty well at that weight as well. When i get to that weight, if it starts to creep up a bit i will have no carbs for a few days and in fact intend on incorporating at least 1 day per week where i don't have carbs at all as a way to maintain weight. Good luck!
  23. Wow, what a story - you sound beyond miserable. Sorry that you wasted so much time and effort. I too experienced thinning hair - 1/2 of my hair is gone and i paid to go to laser treatments to give it some stability - all very costly. I am also dieting. I am not at the right restriction but will insist on it once i am a little more cured from my jaw and chin surgery i had 12 days ago. I was at 7 ccs in a 10 cc band and felt some restriction for a while. When I got off another ten pounds from the initial 14 or 15 pounds i lost at surgery the restriction changed and i could eat more. I will insist on .5 extra to bring me up 7.5 ccs and if that doesn't work i will keep asking and insisting to get what i paid for. Sorry about your nightmarish 2 years
