    New

Hello and welcome, I have had no problem with the lap band - however i haven't been at my sweet spot yet, i coasted for a while after initial weight loss then when i decided to get serious again I was following weight watchers. I have not put back on any weight that I have lost in a year which I think is absolutely thrilling. I intend to get to my sweet spot as I am going for a fill in a few weeks, had to partially defill prior to jaw surgery several weeks ago. I haven't been eating very much the last few weeks and have lost about 10 pounds so I'm not sure how the band impacts weight loss if one isn't eating - seems to be the same as without a band. good luck and hope you get more responses for support.
  4. Do you eat a lot of carbohydrates? My sister is forever grazing because she is eating a lot of carbs at the moment and never feels satisfied. She and I have both been on low carb diets and feel completely stuffed and deliciously satisfied after having a nice good size piece of meat or fish. My sister is eating more carbs now and her larger hips have come back and she is constantly eating and eating.

    Alcohol on post op

I had wine the week after surgery, a few glasses - no problem, no discomfort - just tasted good.:tgif: I hope I didn't do any damage.
  6. Is it not possible to buy fresh potatoes or yams or other fresh vegetables, and have them cooked without spices and then mashed very well?
  7. Hello Teri, hope you remember me. Just dropping a note to see how you are doing. After ups and downs including jaw surgery several weeks ago, I'm feeling pretty good at the moment and refocused. I hope to hear from you - i'm here for any support as well and am a good cheerleader.

    Getting back on track?

Leigha, you look great, I don\t know if you remember me - i had emailed you last year. I slacked off for a while after initial weight loss but am back in the saddle again and intend to finish the ride this time. :youcandothis:

    Getting back on track?

Nice avatar. That's the nice thing about the band, you can come back to it. After coasting for about 6 or 7 months, i started to focus again and the pounds are coming off - with just some effort from myself as in dieting and cheating only once in a while the weight is coming off. the band is always there saying (I'm here if you need me) like an old best friend. good luck! :welldoneclap:
  10. For me, i find the best way to start losing again is to shake it up for a few days. I would probably go to very little carbs under 20 grams per day just for a few days and see if that starts the weight moving again. I'm fond of switching from ww to atkins when i am in serious want to lose weight mode and am giving it my all. good luck!:Banane23:
  11. I was banded April 2010. Satisfied with the way the band works. I wouldn't change it for anything.:Banane08:

Stop asking me how much weight I've lost!

If somebody outside my tightest group asks me, i will just give them a quizzical look as i think that it is so bad manners to ask people such personal questions. They will see from my expression not to ask or ever try to ask again.

For the singles here... Just do this..

Hi, i'm Lena from Toronto, Canada. Divorced long time ago, 1 child who is in University. I am 47 and am interested in talking over email. I'm quite picky (looks wise and presentation wise) when it comes to guys. I try to look my best as well including dressing up to date and age appropriate. Politics, music, laughing, conversation, going out are some of the things to enjoy. If you would like to private email me that's okay.

    Bathing suits

That sounds like a good idea until you get used to your new body. I say comfort first, and confidence. You probably will start to feel confident about the way your body looks once you've had some time to get used to it then bathing suits won't be such a big deal.

    What about beer?

I dont have a problem with beer unless try to drink it quickly then it comes back up. but i can get a good gulp in just not chug it.
  18. Why not speak to the doctors office and try to get this straightened out. Let them know all you are experiencing. The office i go to here in toronto is very conservative with fills. They never even told me what i had in my band. They only put a very little in at a time and are very thorough with their questions.

    Where did my motivation go?

yes, have felt that way, I find just seeing the fill nurse gives me a boost and reminds me why i got the band. also when i look at photos of myself slim and pretty - that gets my motivation going.

    No Pre-Op Diet

I didn't have to and have heard others on here who didn't have to either - i'm not sure if it has to do with health issues or amount of weight to lose.

    Dukan diet

that salad sounds yummy, i've been on on liquids for 2 weeks. Are you sticking to the lower carb vegs?
  22. Wow, do you ever look fantastic! Cute hairstyle as well!:Banane34: Cheers! You both look fantastic!:waytogo:

    Dukan diet

In addition to the cup of vegetables with lunch and dinner (i'm assuming not a salad?), do you also have a salad in addition to the 2 cups of veg?
