    jaw surgery

jaw surgery update: went through refill ot prescription pain medication tylenol with codeine and tried to today not to take pain medication (using up some leftovers from the last dental procedure). So I took no pain medication today and the pain was so torturous in my chin that i will not try that again. Just getting quite a bit dizzy with pain meds when haven't eaten too much. they had taken a bit off my chin so i would not have a point sticking out when my jaw was moved forward. Tomorrow is 3 weeks since the surgery and I must say it is one of the more painful things I have been through. At least with childbirth the pain comes to an end within 10 -30 hours, not this. Oh well, hoping things will start to look up soon as pain makes me very very tired especially day after day pain.

    Dukan diet

That is a great way of explaining low carb, "limit sugar, white flour and starches". Will try to remember to phrase it that way in future.

    Dukan diet

I don't want to get into any dispute with anybody on the lapband forum but I completely believe in low carbs. I just won't make other people believe in it. I've seen miracles happen when carbs were cut out of diets including my brother's former father-in-law, he was dying from cancer, was better for a while when my doctor, Dr. Mclean cut him off all carbs, then he went back to Pasta and died very quickly. The other people who stayed off carbs completely at least lived longer than they were told they would live. One particular beautiful new mother Laura ( an italian) - the doctors told her she had 5 months to live (incurable cancer) and there's nothing we can do about it, she went to see our Dr. mclean and lived for another 5 years.
  4. have no idea if effects the band (nothing i've noticed), i've always been using the tanning bed, was in there a few weeks after getting the band last year.

Corona and lime with the Band?

I've had no problem with beer - I choose the light variety all the time though as it does really make a difference in calories consumed. when drinking from the bottle straight though you may find it a bit hard to swallow because of the carbonation. I found beer easier to drink from the glass. It's no fun when you take a nice swig and it all comes back up and maybe hits somebody in the face (unless it is someone who is giving you unwanted attention). That's been my experience with beer. Other alcohol, no problem. :Banane34:

    body bugg

You can always give low carb meals a try. Try to stay under 20 grams of carbs per day. I would try this for a few days to a week if I was in your position just to get the weight moving again. I've tried it before and it does work (10 pounds in one week is what i lost the first time i tried Dr atkins) . As soon as i am able to have solid foods again as i am recovering from a serious jaw operation - that is what i'll be doing. good luck!

Under wire bra and port pain???

I get the same thing with the underwire bra. I just try to reposition it and now when I go to buy one i will try to be more careful that i don't get one that hurts the port area.

Tell me to let them GO!

I have given mine to a charity church store and sometimes to Goodwill. When I was at my higher weights i bought only a few clothes and the cheapest nice ones i could find - at Walmart, goodwill. I so detested being overweight and fat that i didn't want to spend any money on good stuff. Still some of the things i got were quite nice but are mostly out the door at the places i mentioned above and now some more is ready to go including some huge pajamas. In fact, this post so inspired me i will clear out some stuff from my closet tonight!

To drink or not to drink!!??

I find the best way to avoid hangover is to have water along with the glasses of wine or drinks - it really helps a lot a lot a lot. I like wine a lot but can't drink it straight - i find it too strong. I put some ice in and do have a glass of water on the side.:Banane34: Once in a while (at a bar) I have cold coors light draught beer - lowest in calories and quite refreshing but 2 is what I can handle. 3 - i'm not tipsy but feel really really full. In my younger days when I drank wine straight - when I got home I would drink several large glasses of water and that also prevented hangovers. (eating a bit after drinking helps too)
  19. lost about 30 plus pounds, down from 38D to 36D

eating /drinking before sleep and pain

I get that as well as I like to have Water at bedside table for during the night. I do get gas pains though and have to stand up and walk around and try to burp - that seems to be the only way to get rid of the pain. I also get cramps in the side and flip to the other side to sleep - seems to help.

    Tired of being miserable

I would suggest journaling everything that I eat and ask to speak to the nutritionist and see if they can shed any light on what's stopping the weight loss.
  22. Have you talked to the nutritionist, i would think they would want to see exactly what you are eating and maybe tweak it a bit.

No Weight Loss at 5 months post-op

Great advice on both your replies. Sounds like a slight defill may be in order and definitely keeping count of calories. I use weight watchers to keep track of what i'm consuming otherwise I feel lost. I also use fitday to check stuff i'm about to buy at the grocery store or am about to eat to see exactly what i'm putting in my mouth. Fitday has definitely altered what I eat and made me much more conscious of what i'm consuming as does weight watchers. I have an old weight watchers book with points values from years ago and I still use it constantly for quick reference. At your weight you can eat between 24-29 points daily to start losing weight and all the info on point values can be found online. I just type in "chicken breast 3 ounces weight watchers points" and it comes up right away. Hope this helps a little bit.
  24. sorry to hear about all your troubles, I'd be unhappy big time too. I think I realized some time after forking out all the dough that I had to put work into getting the weight off if i wasn't at my sweet spot which i really haven't been at yet. So I decided that I could lose the weight if I dieted so that is what I'm doing until I come to the right fill in my band. Hope you can get some satisfaction soon to give you motivation. I hope you get some more responses with support as well.
