StillNoRegrets83 posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hey everyone! I am trying to research Dr.'s / facilitators. However, I am having the hardest time finding different websites for the different facilitators. I keep getting the same facilitators and same Dr's as I am researching, but after reading forums, I am seeing many different Dr's names. So if you guys could just let me know what website you used to find your Dr. that would be amazing. Just to give you a little bit of my story, I was banned August of 2010 and went with (Oh I don't remember the name of the "company") but the facilitator was... lets just say I do not want to go with her again. I had complications with my band since the very 1st fill that I received, and in turn I had to have the band removed emergency situation because nothing was getting through. The complications had nothing to do with my surgery or the facilitator, but I think "normal" band complications. I would LOVE to go back to that Dr. but 1. I can't even remember his name because when I originally scheduled my surger it was with a different Dr. and when I got to Mexico, I was brought to this other Dr. (Shady situation), but the Dr was GREAT, well I should say the guy that helped him. The Driver was good too. 2. I don't know where my old paperwork is seeming I just recently moved to another state... Anyhow, while I was there in Mexico I did meet another facilitator, and her niece, and a few other people that were all working together. That group was AMAZING, but before I make my final decision to give that facilitator a call I would really like to see who else is out there for Dr.'s. and facilitators. Any Information about your Dr. and/or facilitator would be very helpful. THANKS in advance. -Tiffany -

I really do not. Because when I scheduled I was with a different dr. well when I got to hospital I asked about the Dr. and they were like that is not your Dr. what had happenes was my twit of a facilitator switched Dr.s and never told me. And I have my Drivers name and number and I have a Dr. that was assisting my Drs name and number but was unable to get a hold of him. I only remembet those two men. I dont even remember what my Dr looked like. The hospital I was in was clean and little and almot like an ER. The staff and Drs were amazing. I have a picture of the outside of hospital but just dont remember my Dr. actually I want to see if I can find the email with my medical stuff the facilitator sent me... Ahhh I did find what she Emailed mme and wont be able to look it up until I get home. -

It was not Dr. Almanza. I no longer have the band. So is that still considered a revision because they wont be taking it out? I could ask facilitators this also haha. =) -

Anybody Else On 11/23?
StillNoRegrets83 replied to charissa70737's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you very much for the information Charissa. I too had a band. Mine was put in 2 years ago, and taken out a year later. I had mine done in Mexico, and would love to go back to that doctor, but my experience with the facilitator was well horrible lol. I would love to go back to that doctor, but I do not know who facilitates to him. Anyhow, thanks for the information. I am not sure of facilitators, I am just not finding many online. So thanks for the info you gave -

Hi I was wondering if you went through a coordinator? Or just them? Also how much was it with him? Did you find anything wrong when you went with Bajanor? -

Hey everyone! It's been a while. I was reading many of the posts and congrats to all of you. I know many of you have hit a wall and I really just wanted to share my story with everyone on my journey thus far: When I got banned I was so extremely happy. I took only one pain pill which was directly after surgery and no more after that. I was very lucky. Well my battle began on my first fill which was 6 weeks after my surgery. I went to a fill center, which had told me my port had flipped so the next morning I flew to CA to go into Mexico so my surgeon could fix my port but I only went to find out my port had not flipped, but instead she(the lady from the fill center) didn't push the needle into my port hard enough. So my Dr went ahead and "filled" me. I say "filled" because that night I was so hungry as though I had no Fluid in my port. Well I called the fill center two weeks later and they told me I had to wait a few more weeks to get a fill. So the day I go in for my fill the lady goes, " hmm you have no fluid in here".. I said well he (the Dr.) told me he put fluid in and I even saw it. She then says well maybe when he sat you up the needle actually came out so the fluid went into your system instead of the port. So she proceeds to put 2 CCs in my 4cc band. Wow is all I could say about that fill because at this point it's Mid October and I am just now having my 1st fill. So lets just say 2ccs was too much and I went back after a month of constantly saying I needed an unfill. I could barely eat and things were constantly coming up. Now in November I went in for .5 cc unfill and I could then eat a bit better. I could take some bites go walking and come back to it. Finally Thanksgiving was the first meal I was able to eat and didn't have it coming back up. YAY for that day. for a full month I was able to control and manage my eating and found a way that worked for me. January then came. By mid January I was aspirating in my sleep. I called the fill center and went in to have them remove all my fluid. I just went in for a fill since January a few weeks ago. The fill Dr put in 1.8 cc's. I am thinking it's a bit much but I am just dealing with it. I wake up in the middle of the night with heartburn, and I am waiting on a referral to go get an upper GI to make sure my band hasn't slipped. So Here I am still super excited through all this pain lol. I started off at around 350 and went down to 269. When I had no fluid in I only gained 14 pounds in 5 months. Which means I was still eating pretty well. Since my new fill I am back to 270. I am trying to adjust to this fill because of the nightly issues. I am super excited about this adventure though because I am in a size 18 and I know when I finally get my brain and band to work together I am going to be unstoppable just like many of you are. So you guys keep pushing and very very proud of you all! -

Sorry I forgot yes it is my second fill but the first one doesn't count because there was no Fluid in the band when I went back. What they think happened to the fluid is that nothing went into the part but my body instead. The reason being that when they put the needle in it slipped out as they were filling it. (Due to unsteady hands, or when I sat up the needle popped out a little) -

Well the fill went great but am I ever having a hard time eating. Drinking is limited to only Water because everything else is just tooo much. The only thing I can eat without some sort of "stuckness" is fruit and yogurt. I am thinking I have too much Fluid, but the fill place is 2 1/2 hours away. So I am just winging it. Good luck on your fill. -

Sooo.... I went in for my fill today. Had a BETTER experience then the last time I went in there. BUT.. The fluid that my doctor put in was not there. (The one from Mexico. If you remember fill center thought port was flipped so I flew back to Mexico but in reality it wasn't flipped the lady at the fill center just didn't push hard enough. Well today she got it. And used a different needle with NO PROBLEMS but the fluid the other doctor said was in there wasn't. So now I have to just watch and make sure it's not going bye bye's into my stomach. ) Life I tell ya lol. -

That is what I was doing but then now I just am still hungry. I put a little on my plate will even wait it out then if I am still hungry I just get more. I am eating now probably as much as a "normal" person would eat without the band. -

Hey everyone. I see a lot has gone on since I was last here. However, it sounds like you guys are doing much better! So I am still very slowly losing, however I will say when I was on my menstrual cycle I definitely gained and was very scared. It made me feel like I was going to be the type of person that the band was just not going to work. I am still very iffy about all of this. I am down around 50 lbs, but, my cloths are not fitting any better. How is this? The only real difference is that my double chin is a baby double chin now lol, and I am very giggly. Before I was big but solid, now my fat is well squishy. Maybe this is tmi but it's just all weird. I go for a second fill Friday. I am excited about that because I really stink at the portion sizes. I still eat a lot less but still eat more than I should. Okay enough of me rambling. Do any of you live in FL? -

Congrats on the release. How are you feeling? Was it hard to deal with the band in and the hysterectomy all within a month of one another? & yay to your motivation. -

So I called for the fill today and she told me I can come in on the 29th which is okay with me. I ate less today which was good, I hope I keep that up. I am kind of just hoping because I am around menstrual time, that is the reason for me eating so much. Because before surgery I would do the same, eat often and would always lose weight during that time. So who knows. -

I did, and you are correct they are very rarely used any longer. It is an Allergan band however. One of the girls I was there with had a different size though. So I don't know. Every time I asked if I am going to lose like everyone else, all doctors said I would. I am going to ask when I go back in though for a fill just to be reassured. -

A 4cc band will close pretty much at 4cc's. Just like a 10 will close at a ten. The smaller the band just means I had a "small stomach / esophagus." If they were to put a bigger one on me it wouldn't stay because it would be too big is the way I think they explained it. I am not sure though if I am correct. I will ask again my next fill. I am going to call today to see if I can go for a fill in two weeks. My first fill was last week. Or let me see if I can do it this Friday. I am going to call. Thanks you guys. :puke: -

I definitely do not have the restiction you all have. I ate a small banana for breakfast thirty minutes had a breakfast sandwich. That was all before 930. I just had lunch at 130 which was a 6'' tuna sub and almost a whole bag of chips plus cookies. So maybe I should get another fill. Maybe this is my karma for having such easy after care. I don't know. What do yall think? I have 1.5 cc in a 4 cc band. -

Hey everyone, well I was sitting here at work and was thinking of you all. Boy have I missed a lot in the many weeks I have not been here. Well I enjoyed reading the posts, and glad to see many of you doing sooooo well. I on the other hand, have been doing okay minus not losing weight in a week and a half, and also feling the need to vent So here goes what happened to me last Friday.: Well last Friday I was very excited because I was going for my first fill at the fill center in St. Petersburg Fl. On my way there my car broke down, and was late for the appointment. I get there rhings are going great port looked good but when the doctor went in to give me the fill she said the port was flipped and tried to turn it. Well no luck. She says I needed to go back to the doctor which is Mexico, so I calledthe doctor right away and was on a flite the next morning all the way from Fl. So I get there the doctor gives me the x'ray and goes umm your port is not flipped. I said what? He goes ya, you can se the two rings if it was flipped you would only see one. I said well I am sorry but I need some proof lol. So he gets the needle and with a little push in went the needle and my 1.5 cc's. Comes to find out she didn' push hard enough through the lining of the port. So what does that mean for me? Well means I wasted money but glad when I go back for my next fill I can inform her. . . I am happy I did go to Mexico though cause I was reassured I was okay. Now my aggrivation comes from just being hungry a lot. I am about to have my monthly feiend but I don't know. I definitely eat more than a cup, but less than what I was eating. But I am going to wate a few more weeks to see how I feel before I go for another fill just because I need to get in a routing and better choices. So with all that said, I hope I didn't bore yall too much. Thanks for reading, my prayers are with you all. Tiffany -
