I am pre-op and just getting started. I do wonder if I am doing the right thing. I know I am not as over weight as others and some people think I am just taking the easy way out to get the weight off. I am 5'3 and weight 206. My heaviest has been 210. I have tried diet after diet just to gain and not lose. In the past 5 years I have lost maybe a total of 10 lbs. I have done strict dieting and exercise and just started to gain more. I have been a yo-yo with weight since I had my third child. When I was young I was over weight and lost most of it in Highschool. I felt great. I was always able to get it off. After the third baby I didnt lose any of it. It just kept coming. Along with pounds so did medical problems. I had my gallbladder removed and have been dx with a spastic colon. I have had heavy and frequent painful periods. I have swelling, HTN, foot pain, sleep apnea and several other issues. I have been told I could have Multiple Sclerosis or Lupus. I was told I have Fibromyalgia. I have also been diagnosed with Tachycardia Arrythmia. My cardiologist said that my body cant handle weight. He said I needed to get it off and he even wants me a little under weight. I have tried and tried and tried. Most of my friends think I am not heavy enough to do the band. My thinking is that I can keep it off once I get to my goal and I will feel better. People tell me it hasnt been around long enough and I dont know the risks. I have several friends with it and several who have had bypass and a sleeve. I dont like how the bypass make people look. They look sick and malnourished. The band is always reverseable if it doesnt work for me. I have had my consult and I am waiting for appts with the nutritionist and a therapist. I am excited and nervous.
