I have struggled with weight my entire life. Unfortunately a few years ago I was in an unhealthy marriage and I consoled myself with unhealthy food choices. At the highest my weight was 268 lbs. That's alot on a 5'2" frame. I tried Phentermine and Weight Watchers and dropped about 15-20 lbs. Then I tried Xenical. I lost and gained the same 15 lbs about three times. I got divorced, moved, tried to exercise more and eat healthier. Then in the fall of 2008 I was diagnosed with psuedotumor cerebri (swelling in the head). The neuro opthamologist told me to lose 30 lbs and fast. I didn't. I moved again and saw a new neurologist. She recommended Lap Band in hopes that I would be able to lose enough weight that the swelling would be reduced and I wouldn't be at risk for vision loss. In December of 2009 insurance denied the Lap Band procedure. I followed up with 3 visits to a nutrionist, joined a gym, started weight watchers again, kept going with Xenical and waited three more months. In March 2010 insurance approved. I went in for banding on April 19, 2010 at 256 lbs. It has been almost two weeks since surgery and I'm down to 238 lbs. I am ecstatic!!
