Vomiting & Unable to Get/Keep Liquids Down
disp4so replied to NikkiRose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ask for a prescription to Carafate... It is used to treat ulcers, but can also help in this situation. I started having stomach spasams after I ate anything about 5 weeks out. Taking this medication before eating helped a great deal. I is a liquid that coats and protects your stomach lining. hope you feel better soon ! -
I have a Vitamix Blender and It is fabulous !! great for making soups, smoothies, protien drinks.. they are a bit pricey though.. I got mine for x mass.

Went for my Pre op today- 1st I ever heard of a catheter being used
disp4so replied to warrior68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had one when I woke up, did not know I would have one before hand. It was no biggie though. First time I had to go use the bathroom the nurse took it out. I did not feel a thing. I would not worry too much about it. Good luck to you -
MY DAY IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER
disp4so replied to sadie_mo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
make sure you take a comfortable robe (for walking around after surgery) and loose/comfortable pants for the trip home. I wore sweats with elastic waist. You don't want anything rubbing against your incisions if you can help it. I had my surgery at Kaiser Richmond in California, about 2 hrs from home. good luck to you !!!! -
Hospital stay....Is one night stay enough??
disp4so replied to mcast's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I was supposed to be just i night but ended up staying 2. I had a hernia repair also. I was in a lot of pain and very weak. I did get up and walk every couple hours, but the dr did not like how I looked, and i had not had anything to drink/eat yet so he keept me another night. I would have been miserable if he would have sent me home the next day. I don't have much tolerance for pain though.. everyone is different.. good luck to you ! -

I had my surgery at Kaiser Richmond by Dr Fisher I was originally looking at the lapband but decided on the sleeve. My reasons were, less maintanence, no foreign objects in my body, less invasive then RNY. I also felt the complication rate for lap bands later on was too significant I was in a lot of pain for the first 3-4 days and took my pain medication reguarly and asked for a refill. Keep in mind i also had a hernia repair so I am sure that affected my recovery. i tried going back to work after 2 weeks but was too tired and weak.. I ended up taking a month off. everyone is different though, you could bounce back after a few days if your lucky.. I hope all goes well and wish you the best of luck !!!

disp4so replied to socalkelly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my journey was less then 2 months and I am doing well. while I am sure waiting would not have hurt me any, I am glad it is done and I am living a better life I have lost 116lbs sine starting my pre-op diet in May. Surgery was June 22nd. I have about 20-30 more to go good luck with whichever road you choose Sherri -

disp4so replied to chrissysodapop's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Hugsamber I am doing well. I have lost 116lbs since starting my pre-op diet in may. I still have bad days sometimes.. I throw up about 2-3 times a month, either I eat too fast or too much or my stomach does not like what I eat. I am still low on energy, but nothing like I was the first couple months out. it's hard to find motivation to exercise but I am working on that.. other than that all is well.. I have my next check up in vacaville on the 24th thanks for saying hi... -
Kaiser Richmond/kaiser South San Francisco Gastric Sleeve Brothers And Sisters!
disp4so replied to chrissysodapop's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Just wanted to say hi, I used to be over on the lapband richmond/kaiser thread but that seems to have died down. I found this thread today. I was sleeved by Dr Fisher on June 22nd. Hope to make some new friends.. -
Don't feel bad you're not the only one. I did the same thing probably 6-8 times. I can now eat about 2 small slices of pizza on thin crust so I don't spit it out anymore. But it's normal and you will get past it... I am a little over 6 months out take care

How do feel about the lapband now that you have had yours removed?
disp4so replied to Becca's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was originally looking at the band, my co-worker has one, but then found out about the sleeve. I was lucky with my timing because Kaiser had only just started doing the sleeve for about 6 months. I am so glad I did not get a lapband. No fills, pb'n , no foreign object in my body. I have also lost way more then I think I would have with the band. My co-worker has lost 80-85 lbs in over 2 years, she is happier but I know she would like to loose more. She is still about 80-100 lbs overweight. I have lost 114 since I started my pre-op diet in May, surgery was June 22nd. I still wish I could have done it on my own, but I think the sleeve is the best choice out there for wls -
I have ordered from http://www.celebratevitamins.com/ quick service, no complaints

HI Everyone, Hope all is well. I have not been on here in a while and just wanted to say hi. Also I was wondering if the kaiser support group at point west is meeting this saturday? Thanks

So now that I've pissed off my incisions...
disp4so replied to peatie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a burning stabbing pain in my biggest incision for almost 8 weeks after surgery. I had to ask for a refill on my pain meds. all is good now though, I am 6 months post op and no more pain Hope you feel better soon Sherri -
great job on your loss...:-) I lost 37 lbs on the kaiser pre-op diet, high protien low carb, about 1200 calories. From begining of May till my surgery on June 22nd I felt very lucky..

I would push hard for inpatient, I could not even imagine coming home the same day and my kid is grown. I was in for 2 1/2 days, i did have a hernia repair too. Hope it all works out for you ... good luck

I am 4 1/2 months out and I still get the stuck feeling occasionally. I would try eating your meat with some gravy, bbq sauce, mayo etc. I find this helps it slide down.
