I joined curves this week.. 2 other firends from work are trying it out... 30 min. and nothing I cant handle.. I see light at the end of the tunnel. It is really myturnow.... If i can do it you can too..

Myturnow has been banded on tues 27th..I am doing well. a little sore but nothing like some have reported. I am thankful and excited to have a new start to my life. keep the replies comming I am addicted to this site... thanks everyone.. donnaco "myturnow":clap2:

hello friends.. after a 5 month struggle my insurance has given me the desires of my heart.. I will be banded tues a.m. just 2 days away.. such a relief..I just wanted to say thanks for the encouragement .... and Its myturnow...donnaco:clap2:

I am being banded by Dr. Brad Ray in Bloomington IN.. 10:30 am on the 27th.. donnaco

After a denial the 1st week of dec. I was too low in the bmi for coverage.. so I really enjoyed the holiday feasts.... now I have a bmi of 42.5 and am ready to submit a new claim for precert.. now my poor surgeon has broken his arm.. sorry buddy I ain't waiting on anybody.. I have contacted the next closest hospital for bariatric surgeries and they have several highly qualified surgeons.. I am waiting for a call from them now.. I feel empowered once again.. I can have hope to reclaim my life.. and my health.. my future.. donnaco myturnow:clap2:

well I got good news today.. My surgery has been approved!!! It took 2 tries 1st time I was denied low bmi... the holidays changed that; ). and now I am waiting for a date.. My surgeon broke his arm a couple weeks ago ... so I need to be patient cause he's not quite up to surgery!!! just wanted to let you all in on my joy.. keep trying... never give up..:clap2: myturnow...donnaco

I am courious about your homes. Has this had an impact on your kids and dh? I am trying to get ins approval and my family is under the impression that they will benefit with a new style of food purchasing, cooking, menus, more physical activity... what do you think? myturnow....donnaco

I am going to tell you of a life, a love story.. I was raised in the country.. mom and dad were real nice loved each other and us kids.. married my highschool sweetheart. (I have always been a big girl) got married at 16 ..in love.. at 18 had my first son.Matthew.. such a loving boy.. big blue eyes. mommies boy.. I didn't want hiim to be an only child so we had another boy and girl..precious.. so blessed... when matt was 16 he developed a seizure disorder.. he only had 4 the last one took his precious life. he was 19...in the middle of the night in his bed.. my dh went to wake him and found him ... I was at work.. no idea.. in the next year my father died slowly of cancer. I had my mom move in to my house.. she became so ill I could not care for her.. placed her in a nursing home. she was a trooper. she thought she was at school..a dorm room... sometimes she knew different but ... what an example of trusting me.. mom died 1 year after dad... 10 weeks later got fired from the best job i ever had... blamed for anothers action. I was in such a blurr.. didn't know what to do.. but pressed on as much as I could.. didn't wish to return to the factory world of work.. bought a small business a bakery.. worked (my dh and me and kids) 7 days aweek trying to make it work.. a large donut Kompany took many of my clients by cheating ...( bribery, kickbacks) my business failed.. My dh also worked at local factory. lost his job to the NAFTA act they moved to mexico.. so in the last 7 years I have had __the talk with God and myself...Mostly if not for my 2 surviving kids... middle son now 19!! daughter 17.. I don't know... a tree while driving the car ... has crossed my mind.. but it has to get better right..... so true.. I'm donna pre-banded , the one woman i work with that is banded is a real source of info.. I always ask her if she feels like talking about it.. and if she has time.. this is totally privite and we should be respectful to each other... some kinda world we live in..

Just a few questions about a hypothyroid... to anyone that can field one.....know anyone that has been denied because of thyroid? was overdosed on synthroid.. then went off meds... had blood work today.. wondering if this could get me denied... my bmi is 42.5 bcbs of ma anxious to re submit... my bmi went up over hoildays and should be in the zone...if stupid thyroid don't mess anything up.... just looking for re-assurance... thanks...donnaco myturnow

be sure to have bmi of 40 or some major problems... my asthma, arthritis, borderline hypertention, wasn't enough..at a bmi of 37.7 save yourself time.. and worry..donnaco

TracyinKS you go.. I am enjoying watching a pro at work.. sometimes I have a very hard standing up for myself.. others too.. confrontation not my strong suit... but you have such courage... You mentioned your thyroid pannel ...I am trying to get my thyroid meds (synthroid) in the proper amount .. to re apply for coverage.. i have achieved the 40 bmi.. thanks to the holidays..(not my brightest move I fear the OMG what if they dont come thru???) but we press on... I am going for new blood work tomorrow and my weight also...wish me luck.. and I do the same for you..we will band ....donnaco myturnow

I have been denied. bcbs ma. my bmi was 37.5 directly after 6 mo of supervised diet. and on its way back up.. I really thought I would get my band soon... now I am starting an appeal process.. my dr.office sending me papers to fill out .. they have an atty that works for my case no extra charge.. I am nervous.. I have asthma, my blood pressure keeps climbing , ostieoarthritis in both knees... If those arent co-morbidites.. it is just a matter of time.. feeling full is my secret shame.. (no so secret to look at me) but I don't know whats ahead .. any wisdom out there friends.. thanks myturnow...donnaco

LaJuanna, I have been in that spot.. just before the holidays.. and so I have eaten and enjoyed the season.. now I should be about 40 bmi.. and the thyroid issue has reared its ugly head.. and I am starting to panic.. now I am worse than I started and the band still seems out of my reach.. my clothes are tight.. and I am depressed as hell... be careful.. I didn't even think I might end up not getting it.. food for thought... myturnow..donnaco

well, now the surgeons office tells me my TH4 is out of bounds for the approval.. so my plan is to work with my pcp to get that straightened out.. in the mean time I am so fat I cant hardly stand myself... I need to proceed and get approval.. but the emotional cost is pretty high.. at first I was taking 1&1/2 pill synthroid. that was too much..so I backed it off to 1pill then that is still to much. so I stopped it for a while??? i need to have the blood test ran asap.. does this make sence to anyone else??? It seems you have to be totally proactive and educated about your meds and the what if's or you get lost in the shuffle..:nervous thanks for your suggestions and support.. donnaco

Good luck with that tracy.. It sounds very promising.. I am in a similar situation.. bcbs MA . does cover WLS. on my first denial because bmi was 37.5 and not medicated for High blood pressure (yet). anyway I plan to submit a new claim after jan 1 because like always after the 6mo plan I have packed on all I lost and then some.. so with the 40 bmi and a new set of blood tests and a letter from my pcp??? so anxious and tired of fat..... myturnow..donnaco

I heard from obesity law and they were very nice telling me I did not have co morbids needed to be using their services unless I wanted to pay for them.... so I decided maybe i should re-request the claim on the new heaver weight. I have put some on... and my pcp can write a letter and if I am 40 bmi...well thats all it should take.. what do you banders think I should do??? thanks for listening... myturnow...donnaco:paranoid

My ins. denied me.. obesity law said they cant help me.. so I am going to file a new claim.. I know I have put on weight since my first one.. so I will have my dr. write me a new letter and re-weigh me.. I know I am close.. maybe if I wear my shoes, my heavy pants.. change in my pocket and after xmas. I am sure to be at 40 bmi.. I know it sounds bad but they will cover it then and I am so close...myturnow donnaco

Yes I feel like if the advocates will help I should let them... I filled out those same forms and mailed off yesterday. Time will tell.. now I have to tell myself be patient.. so hard to do...but we will have the option of self pay if all else fails.. I think we will know in 6 mo or less. what do you think? what are your co morbidies?

I got the news on tuesday... so bummed out... I also found out that the dr.office has an atty that works just like you mentioned above.. no charge to me.. my bmi37.7 if only I had a 40 !!! kinda makes me mad I lost on the 6 mo. supervised..so I am waiting again.. kinda nice to know I;m not alone.. myturnow...donnaco

IN response to the first question. I am working with Dr. Ray out of Bloomington IN so far his assistant has submitted my request for ins. I have met with the surgeon, nutritionist, and a mental health professional. I am anxious to get some news. A co-worker of mine has had the band from Dr. Ray 2 years ago Insurance paid. bcbs of mass. Dr. R has preformed 125 banding procedures. Cant wait to see my band date.. :bandit

good luck with the ins. approval.. I am also in the process.. I have met the surgeon and have apts. for the nutritionist and head doctor.. I am a little anxious. But definately need help getting portion control into my life.. A couple of people at my work have had or had their spouse get banded. They got approval and had it paid for... so I feel pretty confident.. I have been with a diet center for six months and lost 25lbs but staying the same for weeks and still working the program.. hanging on bearly... so I need this tool if I ever will be successful I am new and looking forward to all replies and feedback.. because ITSMYTURNOW!!:clap2:
