    Lap band and bras

I wore a sports bra for about a week, then it was back to the underwire. I can not go without the underwire and yes, I too am a sling shot girl when I get home. Love it!

    is spicy food a problem?

I think I am the odd one out here. I was banded May 4th of this year and was never a fan of spicy foods but I CRAVE it now. The hotter the better! I never used to eat red pepper on my pizza but I am addicted to it. I have not noticed any reflux yet but I have only had two fills so far. It may become an issue later though.
  3. I would second the talking to the anesthesiologist comment. I have a HORRIBLE time with coming out of anesthesia and I have thrown up every time. I mentioned the meds I was given previously and he assured me this time would be different. I was all prepared when I did wake up to get sick but it never happened.(other than me crying which I do every time-not because of pain, just some weird thing I do-that and going under I cuss like a sailor lol) Communication is the key. My anesthesiologist spent about 20-30 minutes with me answering all my questions and really made me feel safe and I was out before I even knew it and I do not remember the tubes being removed which was another one of my fears.

    Only eat 3x/day???

I am finding myself really not hungry at all now. I have had only two fills but I have to remind myself to eat something at lunch and can go until dinner without a snack most days. Depends on how busy I am. I try to stick with part of a protein bar or a small piece of cheese, or hummus. It depends on the person. When I was first banded after I could eat solid food again, I was eating breakfast, a small snack between breakfast, lunch, then another small snack before dinner and I was loosing. Now, my weight loss is slowing, and I am not hungry. Go figure. Time to up the exercise, and possibly calorie intake for a week to kick start the weight loss again.
  5. I gain about 3lbs every period. It STINKS. But I know it will come off. I chose to skip a 3rd fill this last monday and pushed my appointment out another month because I am not hungry between meals that often so I hope this next fill will be the one for good restriction!
  6. I had that for a couple of days after I was banded. My body went into shock. It went away on its own and I have not had that problem again. Of course I have the opposite problem now and have to take a stool softner. UGH.
  7. Use a pillow to hug when you cough. Same thing they taught me when I had my c section. It helps ALOT.
  8. I was told to use a special soap or a dial liquid antibacterial soap ONLY. No lotions, perfumes etc. I shaved my legs and groomed a little not because of vanity but because I knew it would be several days before I would feel like it. Could not believe how quickly everything was over. Most embarassing part for me was having the hubby help me get dressed because I am totally embarassed to ahve him see me that way.

    Goodbye 200's

Oh congratulations!!! I have ten pesky lbs to go till I get to Onederland and I can not wait!
  10. Rubbing alcohol. Or my Dr said to let it wear off naturally if it was too close to the incisions.
  11. I need to go enter burping contests! SERIOUSLY! I would SO win! But at least my hubby understands. The Dr said it might happened so we were prepared but its still not fun sometimes.
  12. Call your DR before you rush and try to eat something that is not "allowed" on your post op diet. I learned that the hard way with scrambled eggs a little over a week after surgery. Yes I sure did try and it was not pleasant. Stick with what the Dr says to do even though you are sick of it. This is a time for healing. Best of luck to you!

    pain question

If it continues to bother you, I would call the dr. I have had twinges or slight pain when I twist or stretch but not severe pain. You might have pulled a suture (or however you spell it) around the port. I thought I did that early one but I was fine. Keep an eye on it and if you have doubts, better to call than to be sorry! That is what My Dr told me!

    Feedback Please!

I was told no swimming for 4 weeks (or a bath) and that is to let the incisions heal. No lifting anything over 5lbs (I think) at least for 2 weeks, and to walk, but not do any exorcise until he cleared it.
  15. I ran a slight temp after surgery too and the first time I had anesthesia, I was sick sick sick. But I told the Dr, my nurses and the anestesiologist that I get sick very easily and he PROMISED it would not happen again. He was right. Don't know what he did differently, but I woke up and other than the nurse screaming for me to take a deep breath and me croaking out that I didn't want to because it hurt, I was fine.
  16. That was the first thing to go with me! The girls! I was a 42DDD and I am down to a 42dd in about a month and a half. And ALREADY I think I should move down to a 40DD because I am on the inside hooks of the 42dd and the straps are getting loose. More money.... but so worth it!~ Congrats on your weight loss!
  17. I remember yelling (screaming down the hall as everyone was laughing at me) at my husband before the drugs kicked in that if anything happened that I wanted him to move to my hometown where my parents are to let them help him raise Grace. LOL so, what you are feeling is completely normal. Just think about all the fun that you will have on your new journey! Going shopping for new clothes when they drop off of you. (yes, tht DOES happen as my husband can attest to) having more energy, doing things you have not been able to do in forever because of weight. Good luck!
  18. WOO hoo! I was at the point of ALMOST needing one so I can only imagine. Congrats to you! What a WONDERFUL feeling!!!
  19. I am the complete oposite of all you lucky people. My husband had an affair (and right during the time I found out I was expecting our first child I found out about it) about 4 years ago because he was no longer attracted to me. I was 110 when we first met and put on about 100lbs so I get it about my weight, but he gained about 60lbs himself. Well, after some counseling etc and trying to keep up with our almost 4year old, I decided to take care of myself and put myself first and looked into the surgery. My husband's response was to ask me who I was seeing on the side. GRRR!!! So, after telling him that two wrongs don't make a right and the answer is nobody, and that I am doing it for myself and for my daughter (which I am 100%)he reluctantly agreed to "let" me have the surgery. I cook what I want to eat now and make good decisions at mealtimes and if he wants to eat it, great! If not, he gets to fix his own dinner. LOL He has lost about 30lbs so far since I had my surgery from diet alone. One day we were eating dinner and I had my hair in a pony tail and he looked at me and actually said I was looking thinner. I just glared at him and said thanks, but inside I was happy. My husbands reaction is all stemming from out marital issues. So, I hope that one day soon, he will completely support me. For now, I will put up with the occasional grumbling when I serve baked zuchini fries or spaghetti squash and all of my experiments. I ahve developed a wonderful love of cooking again too! All in all, best decision I have made for myself in a loooong time. Best of luck.
  20. Same here! I was May 4th. By about 3pm I need a small snack but then I have a hard time eating dinner. I go back for a 3rd fill in two weeks but I may not need one.
  21. Hi everyone. I am almost 3 months out and loving having the band however, I noticed something that started after my 2nd fill on the 12th. I have benn noticing a tightness in my chest kind of in the same area that heartburn would happen but not on the left side. Its high inthe breastbone area (I am female so clevage area-sorry fellas) and I notice it when I breathe deeply. Its not completely bothersome but I wonder if it is caused from the band? I am scheduled to see my Dr on the 16th but will go in earlier if it gets too bothersome. Any advice would be great, Thanks!

    Tighness in chest

Thanks for the reply. No, I do not think this is heartburn. It happens in the middle of the day after lunch. So, I am guessing its just the band. If it keeps happening, I will absolutely go to the dr, but I am one of those weird people that can eat breakfast, lunch but have trouble with dinner. go figure!
  23. I was banded on May 4th of this year. I have lost about 40lbs and I am THRILLED with the results so far. My goal is to loose about 100lbs and I am almost half way there. Even if I can only loose 70 of those 100lbs I would be completely happy. Its a heck of alot better than what I was. That doesnt mean that I am going to stop at the 70lbs though. NO WAY! I am going to keep on going if I can!

    The Scales of Justice...

I actually weigh every morning right after I wake up and right before I step into the shower however, I am starting to obsess about it and think I will start to only weigh once a week. Its getting to be an obsession with me and since I had an eating disorder in high school I can feel those old habits creeping back. Have to keep an eye on it and not obsess!
