  1. I teetered back and forth between excited and terrified, sometimes moment to moment pre op. Just think of what the future holds for you. "Money well spent" is the best quote here. 2 years post op. totally at goal 210 pounds lost. Life is so good!
  2. The bathroom thing was my first real "victory" too. You can do it, just keep pluggin along and don't get discouraged. Starting BMI was 54, now at 24! 2 years post op, totally at goal. 210 pounds lost. Life is good!
  3. I think its as my Doctor put it, "Not a good idea". I really missed diet coke, and have tried it a couple of times. The agony afterwards just was not worth it. I still drink it, and I know it sounds nasty, but I open it let it sit in the fridg untill the next day, and drink it flat. Its really not bad as long as its really cold. 2 years post op. totally at goal! 210 pounds lost. Life is good!

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Hey Ladies Hows it going? Just had to jump in, an yes eharmony, and yahoo dating stinks. I have been curious about dating another "Bandster". Thought it would be cool dating someone who knew exactly what was going on. Anyone had this experience? Good / bad? Jack from Ft. Worth Texas. 2 years post op. totally at goal, 210 pounds lost. Questions about the operation

Your gonna be sore, but everyone is different. The soreness I experienced was primarily for the proceedure, (incission, and anesthesia) but felt no restriction untill the first fill six weeks later. Had surgery on Thursday, was back to work Monday. Not bad at all for me. 2 years post op. 210 pounds lost, at goal! Life is good!
  6. Gee, your pretty sharp. I am right at two years post op, and it took me a full year to really realize what you are saying. Its so true, you hit the nail right on the head. Life was so much easier when I realized that. With that in mind, I think you will see your goal sooner than you realize. I know I did. 2 years post op. at goal! after hitting goal...

Never, never, never, barring ang unforseen medical situation. As explained by my Physician, its a lifetime program. I am two years post op, totally at and beyond my 3 times adjusted goal, and cannot even think about taking it out. To me that would just be insanity. Thats why I got it in the first place, to help me do what I could not by myself. 2 years post op, 210 pounds lost! 430 to 220! Starting BMI of 54, 24 now. Life is good, good, good!

    Confused

I'm not looking for an arguement, nor do I advocate prohibiting anyone from making "choices". Live, and let live. I just prefer to make my own choices, (and gun ownership is one) as I support anyone, and everyone else making the choices that are best for them, whether I agree, or disagree. Once again, thats what makes this a great country, (for now).

    Confused

We Need Government Control Not Gun Control "The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to posses arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so." -Adolph Hitler 1938 Here's a question for anti-gun people: "Would you be willing to put a sticker on your car window or the front door of your house saying 'I am an anti-gun person--there are no guns in this [car/house]'" 18 months post op 210 pounds lost, at goal! Strange question

The more you lose, the more you will notice it. I used to hate the hot 100 degree plus Texas summers, but as of last year, really enjoy the outdoors again, and have come to really dislike the winters I used to wear shorts, and sandals in. I guess that comes with losing all that padding/ isulation. (Not complaining, I'll take a little cold natured change over the fat) 18 months post op. 210 pounds lost, at goal! Life is good!

    Who Did You Tell?

I told everyone who asked or would listen in the beginning, and gladly so. I had a lot of people in my life who were skeptical, and by telling them, it put me under a microscope, and I found it pushing me even harder to succeed. I am glad for it now. 18 months post op. For Just Us Guys

Cool, a guys thread! I am 18 months post op and at goal. It was kind of different, I bounced from support group to support group, not that I needed a lot, but I was usually the only guy there. That made me feel kind of out of place. Hope it takes off, and I'll be watching, and there for anyone needing support. 18 months post op. Starting BMI of 54, 24 now 210 pounds lost!!! Did you meet your wl goals

16 months post op. and at goal. I have not felt this good, or felt this good about myself in years. My goal changed three times along the way, but am completely happy now. 6ft3in. 430 starting weight, 54 BMI 205 pounds lost now, and a 24 BMI. It can be done!

Did you meet your wl goals

Happy, happy , happy! I am 16 months post op and have lost a total of 205 pounds. Goal you ask? I have adjusted my goal three times in the past 9 months, and yes I'm there. I started out with a BMI of 54, and just broke into a 24 BMI. I was at 430lbs. and am 6'3. Currently 225lbs and feel great. I have decided to lose about 5-8 more pounds just to give me a cushion. It can be done, but you gotta do your part too.

    Will this Change?

I don't think this is a good situation, and believe you could be over filled. 15 months post op, and six fills total, never had that extreme a reaction. I always noticed a difference, and some more so than others, but had a normal dinner usually that night. Also the fills I had were never more than one or two tenths at a time, and never closer than a month together, usually 3-4 months apart. Like I say, I believe you may have gotten too much to quickly. I base my opinion (and I stress opinion) cause I'm no doctor, on my experience, and my mentoring of other bandsters here locally. 15 months post op. 201 pounds lost, at goal! Life is good!
  19. Minor discomfort for a week after surgery, but good since then. Since I am at goal now and have lost 201 pounds in the fifteen months post op that I am, I do have a small amount of discomfort when I lay on my stomach where the port is located. This is mainly due to the fact that my waiste is now 38in. as opposed to the 56in. waist I started with. I may look into a "low profile" port down the road, but it has been well worth it. No other band related pain. Life is good!

    Just got banded yesterday! Hooray!!

Your body, and mind are in shock right now. Give it a few days. It is a change your body and mind will have to adjust to. Everybody responds and reacts differently to surgery etc. Congrats on having the "guts" to embark on this journey. It will be well worth while, and you will feel a lot better in a few days after the effects of the anesthesia wear off. Just follow the directions given to you by your doc, and keep us posted. 15 months post op. At goal! 201 pounds lost! Starting BMI of 54, now 24. Life is good !

    water

No problem with Water or most liquids. I just don't drink anything 5-10min before eating, or within an hour or hour and a half after. Myself as I'm sure a lot of people learned the hard way about drinking during, or shortly after eating. It wasn't pretty. You will adapt though if you have the determination, as I suspect you do by even considering the band. Its a journey well worth while. 15 months post op. At goal! 201 pounds lost! Mini port?

I am 15 months post op, and what a wonderful journey it has been. My life has changed so much and I feel better than I have in years. I have lost 201 pounds as of yesterdays visit with the Doc. 6"2, 225 pounds now. Now that I am at my personal goal, I have noticed that with exercise, and the changes my body has gone through, the port is now pretty noticable (to me), and asked the Doc what could be done to possibly reposition, or just close or seal the port. He said that sealing or removing just the port was not an option, however there was a "mini-port" available to replace the other one currently there. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and had this done? Suggestions, comments?

    Mini port?

Thanks for that tid-bit of info. Something I will look into. With 201 pounds gone, abs shaping up, and the belly-blob gone, I think it will be in the future for me.
