You gotta experiment and find what works for you. My personal choice was to give up red meat all together. I have had none in two years and three months now, and don't miss it at all. I did for a while, but feel soooooo much better now. 2 years, 3 months post op 220 pounds lost! (430 starting weight, and 210 now) At my three times adjusted personal goal! Starting BMI of 54, and 23 now. Life is good!

It will for a while, but you can still sleep that way, just bring your left knee up high taking some of the pressure off that side.

Your favorite protein shake recipe?
jackal1209 replied to Careypea's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Try adding a half a packet of the Jello brand fat free pudding mix, either chocolate, or pistaccio to your chocolate shake. It thickens it and it seems to stay with you longer after drinking. Life is good! 2 years, 2 months post op. 220 pounds lost. At my three times adjusted goal. -
Life is soooooo good now! So many changes for the better, too many to even begin to list. Its like stepping out of a great shadow of my life. People notice me now. There is so much descrimination against people who are anywhere from moderatly overweight to the extremely overweight like I was. I now have so much more compassion for everyone having been on both sides of it. Starting weight of 430, and now at my three times adjusted goal of 210! Life is so good! Mainly because I feel good physicaly.

Starting BMI of 54, and 24 now! My doc said on my next visit, (back then) he would discuss putting me on some sort of diabetic meds since I was borderline. Was also taking high blood pressure meds. Now, 2 years and 2 months later, nothing! At my last full physical two months ago, my doc had tears in his eyes. He had not seen me in a year, since the last one. He was absolutely shocked at my lab work and physical change. Life is so good! 2 years and 2 months post op. Starting weight of 430, and now at my three times adjusted goal of 210!

I consider myself extremely lucky, and also set, (reset) my goal weight with this issue in mind. I am at my three times adjusted goal weight, and have lost a total of 220 pounds with very little if any loose skin issue. I have a tiny bit around the mid section, however I think looks like someone who is just a little out of shape and not "draping". I think with a little more gym time, within the next year wil probably be even less. Life is good! 2 years 2 months post op. Starting weight of 430, 210 now, and totally at goal!

Question for banded men who were over 400lbs
jackal1209 replied to wishiwas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
430 and always hungry, eating. I look back now and realize it was mostly head hunger, or habit. I would eat even when not hungry. The band was a god send for me, but just as big a part as that was the after care, and counseling that was included in my deal. My doc was super. 2 years 2 months post op. Starting weight of 430. 210 now, and at goal. Life is good.!!! -
Welcome to bandville! Yes it will continue for at least a month, untill you start solids. suggestion... buy the double roll charmin. 2 years post op, at goal. 210 pounds lost Life is good!

Wow, that was one on the questions I specificaly asked my doctor who is a "pioneer" in this proceedure. He advised me that it was a lifetime implant and should never have to be removed or replaced barring any major medical event. 2 years post op, at goal. 210 pounds lost Life is good!

Do You Weigh Yourself Naked Or Clothed?
jackal1209 replied to neenagh's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was almost to the point of OCD with my scales the first year post op. I was told its only natural, but was a tough habit to break, weighing 4-5 times a day. Now that I am at goal, once a day, first thing out of the shower, no clothes. 2 years post op, at goal! 210 pounds lost. Life is good! (so is not shopping at the big and tall) -
2 years post op, and totally at goal. Yes for me its just second nature now. I don't even think about it most days. Once in a while the "drill seageant" reminds me to slow down, or chew it up more before swallowing, but it is reallly a life style now. I am soooo happy with the band, the new lifestyle, and all it has done for me. 2 years post op, at goal, 210 pounds lost!

shake it off, look to the future skinny you, and deal with it. I'm not trying to be harsh, but attitude is a LOT of it. Everytime I was subjected to one of those situations, and made it through, I was proud of myself, and felt so good about myself, it gave me strength to do it the next time. You can do it! If I, the king of slackers could succeed, so can you. 2 years post op 210 pounds lost and totally at goal Life is so good!

Any time, and I do mean any time, just shoot me a message for that little bit of support anytime you need it. Take care... j

Sounds good, just stay on the schedule of what your doc. gives you, and when able or time move on to solids. I stumbled in the first two months post op by relying on soups and mushies because they went down easy. During that time I had a two month stall where I did not lose anything. I got back on track though. 2 years post op 210 pounds lost totaly at goal Life is good!

How are people doing 1+ years postop?
jackal1209 replied to alohajenn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Stick with it, you'll get there. Just be patient. 2 years post op tataly at my 3 times adjusted (lowered) goal 210 pounds lost Life is soooo good! -
I found that with every adjustment, there was about a week or two "retraining" mysely on eating correctly. Just chew everything to death, LOL. If it persists more than a week or two, then maybe you were "overfilled" an I would see your doc. Just remember too, an adjustment is just that, more restriction, and you should feel it. j

Just refocus, and get back on track. You can do it! If I, king of slackers can, you can too. 2 years post op. Totaly at my three times adjusted goal! 210 pounds lost! Life is sooooo good!

Stay focused, and don't be nervous. Its such a life changing experience, and soooo worth it! You will really like being thin! It changes everything. 2 years post op. Totaly at my 3 times adjusted goal. 210 pounds lost! Life is so good!

Slowly but surely. Your not gaining I assume. A couple of things, one, be patient, and two, when you get your next adjustment you should notice a difference. Also, you gotta help by eating, (or not eating) the things you should. Don't get discouraged, everyone progresses at different rates. If I, king of slackers can do it, so can you! 2 years post op. totaly at goal! 210 pounds lost Life is so good!

I wish I could figure out how to post before and after pics, you would be amazed. I am 2 years post op, and have lost 210 pounds, with no real skin issues. You can do it! If I, king of slackers can, so can you. I am totaly at my 3 times adjusted goal, and life is so good! -
Just stay focused, you will get there. You will also find that the more you lose, the easier it will get. The more I personally lost, and the more results I saw in myself, the more fired up I got, and it got easier.

Change your routine, Am to Pm, and as already said jogging or walikg may just not be your thing. I absolutely hated it too and realized it was the whole "treadmill thing" Get out and walk or jog, and if the weather is crappy, it will wait till tomorrow, just not next week. 2 years post op at my 3 times adjusted goal 210 pounds lost Life is good!
