Is this a joke? WTH is going on?!

I'm in total agreement with everyone else. Don't even think about giving up or getting the band out yet. I'm not even two months in, I have no restriction, I haven't had a fill, I can eat whatever I want. So I'm not saying I have some great experience to give you advice or anything. I'm just saying that you're young, you've got time to make this work, but you've got to make it work. You can't fail at something till you've finished trying it, and you're just getting started. So don't think about being a failure or your surgeon making you think you're a failure, just think about doing everything you can to make it work and hang in there.

Meals with at least 20 grams of PROTEIN

I know a lot of people can't stand them but sardines are a great source of ready to go easy to keep on hand Protein. I liked all type of sardines and a typical can is between 13-15 grams of protein about 150 calories and less than 4 oz. Go with a skinless & boneless sort in Water instead of olive oil and you end up with less calories and 23 - 30 grams of protein (and they're less off putting without the skin and bones). I've also taken a liking to the chicken of the Sea tuna cups, they're less than three ounces, 80 Calories, and about 18 grams or protein. Sometimes when I'm a little hungrier I'll have one tuna cup and a 2% Cottage cheese 4 oz snack pack which is 11g of protein and only 90 calories. That's 29g of protein and only 170 calories.
  5. This is a tricky one for me. I was banded on 4/14. I'm 6'3" and was weighing in at 406 lbs. I'm 363 lbs today so I think I'm doing pretty good. When my surgeon asked me my goal weight I said 275 which is what I weighed my senior year of high school 11 years ago. Thing is that is still considered morbidly obese. My doctor had said I could get down to 200 lbs if I really wanted to but I haven't been 200 lbs since 8th grade! And even at 200 lbs I'd still be considered overweight. I'm not worrying about where I end up right now, just worrying about how I'm doing so far. If I feel good at 300 lbs maybe that's where I should be, if not I'll just try harder. I never intend to be 180 lbs...which is right in the middle of the "normal weight" range for my height.
  6. I was surprised to see this topic because just this morning I had the same pain you describe for the first time. I'm nearly four weeks post-surgery and I've never experienced anything like it, but it made me pretty nervous till I saw other people on here experienced it too. I'm in NJ as well, I used Dr.Gritsus in Pequannock. He's great about returning calls, but they never seem to answer the phone in his office. So I come here for info before calling very often.
  7. Thanks for the responses.
  8. Hey everybody, first off your stories and tips have provided me with a great deal of comfort over the past few weeks. So thank you so much. It's great to know that there are so many others out there dealing with this all. I was banded on 4/14. That morning I weighed in at 406 lbs. Twelve days later I'm 373 lbs. and (knock-on-wood) complication free. I haven't felt hungry yet but I've been thirsty every second so far. For the first 10 days I couldn't get anywhere near the amount of liquid I was supposed to. I was keeping up with the Vitamins but falling far short of the 48-64 oz. per day goal. It was slowly getting better but it was still tough to get even 30 oz of liquid down. Then, all of a sudden, from day 10 to day 11 it was like a switch was flipped. I can drink 64 oz in a day no problem and have to be careful not to go over because I feel like I can drink more. I'm waiting to hear back from my surgeon still, but the question is is this normal? And if I feel good is it a huge deal if I sip a little more in an hour?
