After years of struggling with my weight, and watching my Dad suffer strokes, heart problems and diabetes, I decided to bite the bullet and go for a gastric band. I spent a couple of years researching it, and saving for the proceedure, and eventually had my surgery with Dr Dillemans in Brugges, Belgium.
Had my band surgery in February 2006, and the weight loss was dramatic in the first few months, as with most people.  When I returned to Belgium for my first fill in July 2006 I just had 2cc inserted.  My doctor was worried that any more would have me losing weight too quickly.
My weight at the time of my surgery was 266 pounds, and after the band and a lot of visits to the gym, I managed to get down as far as 210 pounds and counting.
Sadly I crashed my motorbike in November 2008, and broke my right arm in 2 places.  The top of my arm broke down the bone instead of across, so 18 months later I'm still waiting for it to heal and trying to avoid surgery.  All that time sat on my bum, unable to excercise put me back up to 238, but I am gradually getting it off again a pound at a time.
Every pound lost is a triumph!
