    A question about chewing food

Hi Suz, You soon get to know how much to chew foods. You are probably chewing too much at the moment but will find later that you will need to chew more as the band gets more Fluid in it. I wouldnt panic about getting a stuck episode, its always a consideration but if you just try to cut small peices of food you will find it will go down ok. Anyway good luck.

    Perth people, where are you?

Good luck for your surgery in September. I had Dr Watson and he was great. Beck:thumbup:

    Pain

I had the same pain you are talking about when first banded and through the first six to eight weeks. It is slowely easing though. Good luck I hope you start feeling better soon.

    I'm in Surgery Hell.

Hi Eri, I didn't have problems for surgery, but after was a nightmare... Pain was dreadful, and I too really really regretted my decision to have the band. I must admit for two to three weeks after I really just wished I hadn't done it. I am now 9 weeks post op and have had problems with my band but I guess it took me such a long time to make this decision to have the band I am slowely working through it. Perhaps try and look forward and remember why you wanted the band in the first place. We are all here on the same journey, some a little rockier than others but keep focused on the main goal. You will get better, be positive. I wish you all the best and you will find once you start losing weight it will not be a decision you regret.

    Burping?!

I am 8 weeks post surgery and still burping but also get a pain between my rib cage with it, so annoying and painful at times.

    still having heartburn

Hi Whillow, I have been great until I had my first fill 3 weeks ago and have had the same problem as you. Heartburn and really dont know how to get rid of it. It has been driving me crazy. I am off to the doctors on Friday and hopefully will get this sorted out. Good luck. Beck

    Perth people, where are you?

Hey Just BandedEm, I had the pain you are talking about two weeks after surgery as well. I ended up going back to the doctor who took some of the saline out. (as you may already know there is some already in the band when it first goes in). Almost instand relief. Doctor said to me that the pain should be gone within about 7 - 9 days. Now I had my first fill 3 weeks ago and have had that same pain back again for that time, so maybe I am one of those people that need to have a little at a time, cause I am over feeling like this. I'm sure it takes time to get to the right level so I am crossing my fingers all we be sorted at my next appointment on Friday.

    Just another question...pain

I too had the same pains and badly for about two weeks after surgery and then it magically disappeared. I think it is just the gas build up in your stomach.. Good luck with it, it will eventually go....

    Perth people, where are you?

Hi there, I am fairly new to the forum and didnt realise there was an Australian part of the site which is fantastic. I even put my weight down in pounds as I didnt think there were many of us on here. Anyway, I have been reading some threads and really happy that there are people that have had the same doctor etc.
  10. I am now 3 weeks post op and feeling much better. I'm sure the pain will ease soon.

    Not Sure What To Think

Hi Kelly, I am in the same boat as you although I haven't lost as much as you either. I am also due for my first fill on 19th May and am hoping that this will start the weight loss again for me. Well good luck with it all and look forward to seeing your progress. Beck
  12. I also had that same pain and was wondering why the heck I even had the band in. But three weeks on and I feel really good. The pain went after about 2 weeks.

    Constant burping

I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and I am finding I still burp as well, although definitely not as bad as the first couple of weeks. I am finding it has a LOT to do with what I am eating and the speed I eat or drink.
  14. I'm only new to the forum and was banded on 14th April 2010. I have had this very sharp pain in my chest more to the left under my rib cage but does radiate accross to my right and around to my LH side of my back which seems to be getting more intense. I have been having Reflux tablets, mylanta, gas busters, you name it I'm trying it. Prior to surgery I was a very big burper and find now when I do it absolutely kills. Any advice on how to get rid of this pain would be really appreciated, besides the pain I am going quite good and 11 days post op I would have thought this type of pain would be gone. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

    Chest/Gas Pain Ouch!!

Hi Kendra & Jen, thanks for your posts. I have been using a heat pack everyday since surgery and find it relieves the pain whilst laying down but as soon as I am up and about the pain comes back. Jen, as for the milk products that is a definite YES i have been having milk to try and relieve the burning pain, so tomorrow I will try NO milk products and see if that changes things. I hope you are feeling better soon Jen, it is really a terrible feeling isnt it and I sure know why you have been in tears. Keep positive lets hope it only lasts a little longer.
