I've been "big boned" all of my life......I never thought that weight loss surgery was the way to lose weight.....but I have tried everything the only diet I was ever successful at was Adkins and I did the first phase for 6 months straight. I eventually gained every pound back plus 50 more. About two years ago my doctor said "Leslie you really need to consider weight loss surgery, you are too young to be this overweight" I politely told him that weight loss surgery was the easy way out and I was NOT going to do it. Over the next two months after that I gained 20 more pounds and my knees and hips were killing me I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without huffing and puffing and my blood pressure was out of control.......I was watching television one night and saw a commercial for the Realize Band and something clicked that I couldn't do it on my own, So the following Monday I made an appointment with my doctor and we started the process. My insurance company required me to go through a 7 month physician guided diet and various other tests and procedures. During the 7 month diet I reach my heaviest weight every 300 pounds....talk about getting discouraged but my only hope was that the insurance would approve it. Fast forward to December of 2009 all of my paperwork was submitted on a Friday that Monday I recieved a phone call saying it was approved. On February 15 I recieved my band and my life has changed in so many ways. 3 weeks ago I started doing this running program.....yes I said running I've never been able to run before......I am working out less than what I was working out before and I've lost 35 pounds. My only regret is not doing this sooner.....I turned 30 in 2009 and I believe that my life has finally started!!!!
