Hello all Thanks to those of you who posted and hoped I was feeling ok. I must say a week on and after no food and barel enough liquids I am feeling a little better. Restriction is definately there and I am struggling with my usual core basics of yoghurt, crackerbreads, philli - had none of these as just won't tolerate them and they have to depart. The only think I am able to drink is chicken cuppa soup. Had a couple of scary experiences when I was at school and thought I was going to pass out infront of the pupils but luckily I managed to have a drink of water and stop feeling dizzy but was a stark reminder that I need to keep my liquids up and eat little and often when the band lets me! Anyway good news is I have lost 3 stone 1 pound (43 pounds) and 36.25 inches in 14 weeks. Really chuffed. Hope everyone is well and looking after themselves. Take care Claire

Hey you! How are you doing? How's your weight loss and have you had another fill? Today could have been better but I have got through it. Just worried in case I am causing any damage to the stomach by not getting a de-fill. I am managing to get cuppa soup down but beef broth didn't want to stay put. Also when I drink it feels like it is pooling in my chest! Very bizarre sensation. Anyway hope all well in your camp. When's baby due? Take care Claire x

So quick update managed a cuppa soup last night seems to respond better to hot/warm rather than cold/icy. Again managed to have de-fizzed lucozade last night and felt less shaky after 4 days of no food. Had a cuppa soup today at school and that went down well but cold is really not helping as I have to throw up. This may be TMI but has anyone else experienced this and when they were sick had brown bits in the sick or flecks of blood? All a bit worrying really. But do feel a little better so think I shall persevere and not have a de-fill yet. Do you think it will loosen off with time? Take care Claire p.s. good news is that I am half a pound shy of losing 3 stone so very happy!

Hello Thanks for posting. Seems a bit better but oh boy it hurts like crackers in the middle of my back where it's just feels like it is stuck. Lots of PB and I have lost quite a lot of the liquid that I have been having. Small sips or tiny sucks through a straw. Really not very pleasant. Called the emergency nuber yesterday and spke to a lovely lady who said give it another 24-48 hours and see if there is any improvement. Well there has been a little but so concious that I have no good nutrition going in and yes I have lost weight! Have tried the ice lolly idea thanks as I can't take ibuprofen! Will monitor it for another 24 hours and see where we go from there. Take care and have a lovely weekend.

Dr Chris and Frederik both explained that they put in 3mls at first fill then 2mls at second fill and then 1ml for the third fill. After the last 24 hours I am glad he only put 2ml in. The restriction I have has been horrendous. My husband has asked me to call the emergency numbers we have incase I need to see someone over the weekend to have a little taken out as I have had difficulty keeping water down. Just because we are paying for something doesn't mean we can put ourselves at risk I would rather be guided by the professionals as they have far more experience at this than I do. Restricton comes with time, after all the band is a tool and we have to work with it not force it otherwise it will come back and bite us on the bum big time.

I feel dreadful, assuming this is normal. I haven't managed to keep anything down all day except a cup of hot boiled water! Hoping this will ease up in a few days but it isn't very pleasant! :sneaky:

Hello all I've just seen Frederik in London for my 2nd fill. In went 2 mls and oh boy I definately have restriction now! So I have 5mls in and I have been fortunate to have lost every week for the last 12 weeks so hoping this will keep me going until November 28th when I have my last one before going away on hols. Target to lose before the 14th December is 50 lbs. Have a good day and take it easy those that have just been banded. Best wishes Claire
  13. Absolutely no regrets. Banded end of July by Dr Chris and his fab team. In twelve weeks lost 34 pounds and approx 31 inches. So definately no regrets from this quarter! Gas pain and pain on my right hand side rather than port side. They will look fater you interms of fluids and pain relief you just need to ask and they will give you them through an IV. Didn't fly to Belgium went by Eurostar but there were others who did fly the next day just be aware that you will feel tight in the abdomen area. After all it is surgery and your body needs time to recover. Hope all goes well in November. Best decision you can make if you want to take control and have ownership over your body and your weight again!

  15. What a load of utter rubbish, you need to visis this thread http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f11/anyone-know-dr-de-bruyne-chris-41669/index688.html I had my band on the 30th July 2010 and since then, which is now 11 weeks, I have lost 33 pounds and 29.5 inches I think your doctor is talking out of his  arse (sorry if this upsets anyone) What a T * * T I think he needs to get his facts straight. The band is a tool and when you put in the right amount of good nutrition then it rewards you by helping you to lose weight. Obviously you can still eat rubbish but there are certain things that will be hard to digest and the above thread and others on the forum will help you with this. You have to do what is right for you and only you can make that decision. Your GP is entitled to their view but they could at least be better informed about the outcomes of a gastric band. It's the best thing I have ever done and wish I had done it earlier. There are lots of people on the other thread who will also say the same. Dr Chris is brilliant and the team are very caring and look after you very well. HTH Claire

Food was never my issue just the lack of activity due to my knee. So not all of us are here because of food. I do put my hand up to liking chocolate and a good glass of red wine! I was never the 3am fridge grazer the NHS Consultant labelled me as as I am so busy and used to be fast asleep. One of my clients actually said to me that she didn't think I ate enough (she's a nutritonist). When I tried a high Protein diet with low carbs I lost quite a lot of weight (3 stone) but then gradually after the knee op just couldn't maintain the loss or add to it. Since the band I have cut out alcohol, foods such as Pasta, bread, chocolate, bananas, steak, rice krispies. I only seem to have Soup, chicken, lots of vegetables, brown rice, weetabix, porridge, pureed fruits (baby range), stews, chilli, I had chicken fajitas minus the wraps the other evening. Again I have noticed that when I manage to eat a proper meal (very small portion) I lose slightly more in the week. Our bodies need good, quality, highly nutritious fuel in order to function.

Hello All I haven't had a good day. The stress is mounting as I am trying to finish my diploma coursework, have a new job with so much school preparation etc and a 10 year old that is behaving like a teenager! Bl***y hormones! Stress really made my band very reactive today at lunch time and it wasn't pleasant believe me! I had to come home from school as I couldn't stop heaving. Finally, after about an hour I lost my boots and am now feeling a little better. But it was awful. I agree that it some days one thing will go down really well and other days it may be quite the opposite! Just a complete nightmare. Wish I hadn't got out of bed!! Anyway, upward and onward - come on Marine don't let the side down. Have a good evening all.

So it's that time of the week again, weigh day! It's a kinda magic! Yes it really is. I have lost 1.5 lbs and 3.5 inches. Absolutely brilliant. I must admit I am so careful over portion sizes and what I have. Still not really having lots of things that I need to chew loads, the odd chicken here and there. So really chuffed! Just happy that I have had a steady loss each week and that it is very gently coming off and I feel so much better, look better and have a boundless energy that I haven't had for a few years. So pleased that the band has been a positive addition to my life. I did think it might not work but actually the proof is there to show that it does and is and so pleased that no one can say well that was a waste of £x amount. Anyway, off to baby massage in the moment so shall close and come back and visit in the next few days. Take care and have a lovely day

Congratulations that's great! Keep with the soup as I find it is my main staple at the moment and I am 10 weeks in. I have soup at school most days - just lots of different NCG ones. Keep us posted on your loss and stay positive.

Morning all Well I had my fill last Thursday with Chris and he asked me not to be disappointed. I am delighted as it is weigh day today and I have lost another 3 lbs and 2.75 inches. So I am really pleased! How has it been well I have tended to stick to Soup for the week. I have had crackerbreads with some homous or philli cheese. But I haven't really had lots of solid food. I did have dinner the other evening which was cottage pie, peas and carrots. I have taken to having pureed baby fruit as I love fruit and am missing it like crazy. First day after the fill wasn't pleasant as a few things tried to get stuck (I think I was rushing between classes etc) but after this I was more careful and stayed clear of certain things. One of my colleagues at work asked me about my appointment on Thursday she didn't know what I had gone for and I don't like to fib so I just asked her if she could see a difference. She guessed sraight away that it was weight related and has enough savvy to know that if it has come of this quickly and said gastric band - I was so shocked and wanted to know who she knew that I knew! We are a small place and everyone knows everyone. But to her credit she said no what are women most hung up about their weight, their image or their hair and clothes! We are quite fickle aren't we!! So she was really curious asking lots of questions and like she said to me you only ever read about people having it done in magazines and never know someone in "real life" so she was asking me loads of things. I must add she is skinny as a rake! So two at work now know and they are both really supportive. So looking forward to my next fill at the end of October and hoping that I keep losing. I would love to hit the US at least 50 lbs lighter and have some half decent photos with Mickey Mouse! I know I'll eat these words! Have a lovely day.
