  1. Hi Nana . . you are right, there is a lot to learn and this is definitely a great site to read and learn. Most people on here will offer advice, but will always say . . follow your doctor's orders. It seems that different doctors have different plans for patients and it's best to follow your doc's advice. You are correct about shrinking the liver . . they don't want to nick it when they go in with the scope. Good that you are committed . .. it will help you. The band is a great tool, but you still have to do your part. Sounds like you're on the right track - you'll do great. Keep posting and let us know how you're doing - we're here for you!!

  2. Janet . .. what would you be writing back to one of us if WE had posted that we "gave in to temptation" with a little crunch n munch? I KNOW you would be right there supporting us and saying everything that Bk and lucky above have said . . . so take YOUR advice and be gentle on yourself - it will be fine. You're so encouraging to us, so let us give some back to you today . . ok?

  3. Well first . . I am SO glad that your other tests had good results - yeah! And I'll be glad to hear about your fill on Thursday and to know what differences you experience, as you know I'm in the same boat - have not had a fill yet, but still losing 2 - 3 pounds a week usually, so don't feel ready for one. So, best wishes and I hope this fill puts you right where you need to be for now!

  4. Hi Rhonda . . I was banded 7/15/10 . . so only 8 weeks into it. You sound so much like me with up and down weight and that was my deciding factor. I have said since the start that I don't care if the weight comes off slowly, just so it stays off. I have absolutely no regrets. I have lost 39 pounds - including the 10 pounds pre-op. This is an amazing tool. Don't get me wrong, I feel that I still have to work at what I'm doing, but as the weight started coming off, I feel so much better and have more energy. I haven't had the need for a fill yet, so I probably could eat bread and other things . .. I've read a lot of posts where people talk about bread or other foods getting stuck, so I chose to play it safe and not eat them. I have toast sometimes and do fine with that. I'm not hungry except when it's time to eat - that is the most amazing feeling and I think that's what helps me honestly say that I don't crave anything . . at all! I get filled up whet I eat, and I drink lots of water in between meals and I'm just not hungry - truly words I never thought I would say! Best wishes in your decision!

  5. Hi chriper . . I went "closet shopping" after 3 or 4 weeks because some of my clothes were too big - it's an amazing feeling. I have since put away all of my 2x clothes and am wearing 1x / my pants are down from 20 or 22W to 18W . . I was banded 8 weeks ago yesterday. I've lost 40 pounds (including the 10 pounds pre-oop) and I feel fantastic!! Best wishes to you and keep us posted on your progress for sure!

  6. I didn't share the information with anyone buy my husband and my mom until a month afterwards. We went to dinner with family and I finally shared . .. the first thing someone said was, "cheater". That's why I didn't share before surgery . . I only wanted support - not hassles. Now people know and they've been supportive.

  7. I haven't added anything . . I don't feel anymore jiggley than I did before surgery. I am walking a lot, I suppose that is helping. I'm not sure if I'll get to the point of needing something . .I still have my big 'ol belly, it seems to really hang on. My arms, hands, legs are all feeling/looking smaller, and I know my belly IS smaller, it's just not coming down as much as I would like . . patience, patience! I was banded 7/15/10 and have lost 39 pounds (that includes pre-op weight loss of 10 pounds) Best wishes!

  8. That sounds absolutely wonderful! Thanks for the inspiration. I don't eat fish, but eat a lot of chicken and I'm always looking for new ways to prepare it. FYI . . I found a marinade at Meijers (it is Meijers brand) . . it is lemon pepper. I use chicken cutlets and place them in a skillet on the stove top with salt, pepper and garlic powder, then put some of the marinade on each one and cover and cook on medium, turning once about 10 minutes and they're done when the thermometer reads 165 (there was a sample lady giving these out one day and I loved it . . have been making it for a couple of months now) . . they also keep well for future meals! Thanks again, I will be sure to try your recipe soon.
