  1. Hi Newbie! I am being banded in 3 days - yikes! I have been working at it since December and jumping through all of the hoops. I'm excited and scared, but most of all, I am ready. I'm on day 8 of the 10 day liquid diet my dr. requires. It's been going ok. How about you?

  2. I cannot say what you should do VMACK, as I am only just having surgery on Thursday this week. I can offer encouragement, though. My dad had esophageal cancer (diagnosed in 2003 and passed away 2007) . .. what I can tell you is that your mom is going to need you, so it makes sense to be the healthiest you that you can be. I'm sorry for all of these stressers you have right now. Hang in there.

  3. Thanks sw, for posting your entry. I'm scheduled for next Thursday and I just keep reading and trying to be prepared. I liked luckone's comment about giving back the oral pain medication .. . I'll keep that in mind. Good luck all!

  4. I'm on day 5 of the required 10-day liquid diet. No pop - I stopped that about a month ago and no cream soups either. I'm allowed sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast - that's a required part of the plan. With that I have broth, low fat cottage cheese, yougurt, popsicles and light juice. It's going ok . .. hope you do well.

  5. I just made a batch of vegetable broth from whatever I had in the refig. . . . delicious. I think I was just stuck on the off the shelf broth . . this is so much better. Thanks, Debra G. for your inspiration!

  6. Glad you are doing so well - keep it up. I am on the pre-op diet now and am curious about the hot and sour soup and basil broth - do you have recipes you would be willing to share? Much appreciated!

  7. Thanks again for the encouraging words. I'm scheduled for the 15th and I just hang on every word you are writing .. . thinking, "I can do this, I can do this". I want to follow in your footsteps and be that success story also. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

  8. Sorry you are having trouble Maggs .. .I can't offer help as I won't be banded until the 15th, but I appreciate that you are writing of your struggle because I'll be there in a couple of weeks. And I am sure some fellow bandsters are going to post some awesome suggestions very soon. Hang in there and as your tag line says, remember IT IS THE JOURNEY!

  9. Thank you for responding . . . I just bought a new blender and need to do some experimenting with it. I also bought an ice cube tray to freeze some pureed foods . . . just thought the baby food would be a good option for busy days, but it is not! The cute little jars may come in handy though!

  10. Thanks for writing about your journey. I have been going through testing and visits to get cleared for lap-band. One more test tomorrow - there is apparently some concern with my esophagus. I am hopeful that tomorrow's test goes well and I will be able to get a date set for surgery. Reading about your experiences has helped prepare me . . . . keep writing!!
