Sounds like a wonderful vacation, sounds like you used your head and were reasonable enough with what you ate and now you're back at it - good for you!

I echo what Bklynike has said. Overall, no complaints. My primary doctor did tell me of one of his patients who had the band surgery, but did not follow the guidelines. He was in the emergency room 5 times because he kept over eating and then it felt like he was having a heart attack. He is now having the band removed. It doesn't have to be that way though . .. the band is a tool, use it to help you and you can succeed. Good luck on your decision.

Can't wait for the new pix! Pound by pound we are getting there aren't we? What an incredible journey.

Remember that losing the weight quickly is not as important as being well .. .take care of yourself.

I suggest a couple of things: Ask your doctor if you can take GasX (they make a dissolvable strip) and if so, pack some for the hospital and also walk, walk, walk, as soon and as often as you are allowed, it will help move out the gas. Be patient with yourself and give yourself time to heal. Follow the rules your doctor gives you. Blessings to you - hope all goes well.

That's amazing! I was in overnight and I had to ask the nurse to help me get up - several hours after surgery . . .that does sound really quick, but so glad it went well for you. Best wishes!

Thanks Sandy, I am like ella, I kind of live in fear of that first "stuck" . .. hope it never happens, but realize it probably will. Good advice.

Hang in there . . .keep doing what you are supposed to be doing. It gets better. :-)
-
Sounds like a good plan . . . makes sense. Hope you continue doing well. You know, the nurse at my doctor's office told me that they have a man who has lost almost 200 pounds and has had only one fill in two years, so . . .everyone is different.

Will be anxious to know how it is going for you, best wishes. You are doing so well and you're such an inspiration!

Thanks for sharing, Janet. He does take care of the sparrow, so we absolutely can rest in knowing that He takes care of us. You're such an inspiration! And happy Bandiversary - congratulations.

Wow, I think it's great that your doctor's office offers those sessions. I'll bet you'll learn alot and I hope you'll share with us :-)

That is a very interesting gadget. I can see how you could get obsessed with it! Good luck, hope helps you reach your goals.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I read blogs like this and just try to "tuck away" the information for a time when I may need it. Best of luck to you!

Hi, my understanding is that because the band will be tighter, the food will stay in the pouch longer and THAT will cause you to feel full longer . .. I haven't had a fill yet, so I hope I'm not steering you wrong, but this is what I understand . ..good luck!

Hi Lovely, I had surgery on a Thursday and by Sunday still had not had a bowel movement. I was concerned about a possible blockage because of previous surgeries, so I called the surgeon on call (who was not my dr.), he had me take milk of mag., which I wish I would not have done (and later learned my doctor does not recommend), it did get me going . . .water movements for a day and 1/2. I think things will work out . . the nurse at my doctor's office told me it just takes a while for everything to "wake up" from the anesthetic. I used GasX for the gas pain and that along with walking, walking, walking, the pain left by about day 5. Good luck .. . keep us posted.

I don't know what a body bugg is ?? Hope it works well for you though. Just keep doin' what you're supposed to be doin' and you'll get where you want to be . .. I believe it.

My doctor says no pop . . . and honestly, I haven't missed it. I wondered how I would do because I often had a Vernor's in the evening when I had an upset stomach. I think now I had an upset stomach because I was eating too much because I haven't had that feeling at all since starting the pre op liquid diet. My understanding is that the pop can stretch out your pouch - yikes!

Thanks for another great sounding recipe Debra! Keep 'em coming, please!!

Sounds like you are doing well. I tried to not use the pain medicine, but finally decided that was stupid. I used it for 5 days, which is longer than some people, but it's what I needed. I still used liquid Tylenol for a few more days after that. Give yourself time . . be sure to keep walking . . good luck!

I am just ahead of you, I am 12 days post op. The gas does subside - are you using GasX? I found that very helpful. I still have "tenderness" , not pain, on my left side. When I saw the surgeon, he told me that's where my port is . . huh, I thought it was down by my belly button. Anyway, I've read some posts that say this can remain tender for a couple of months even. Sounds like you are doing well - keep up the good work.

Good information . .. thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!

Hi Richele, I can't help you as I am a newbie - no fills yet. But I would suggest that you go to the "chat' tab on this site . . it is a live site and you can ask questions and people in the chat room will answer . . good luck.

Best wishes to you . . . I was banded on July 15th and can honestly say that already I have less joint pain . .. I pray this will bring relief for you. It's a great journey, enjoy the ride.
