    scale victory and non-scale victory!

    Love it!! Yeah you.
  2. Hi Thanks for checking in . . I need to make a post regarding my first fill - yes I had it and no problems at all. I wouldn't quite say it's "painless", but certainly no big deal. He added 2cc (initially did more, had me drink and watched it with the xray, then removed some). My requirements are the same - liquids yesterday after the fill and today, soft tomorrow and re-introduce foods on Monday. I am being super careful - small swallows of liquid and want to make sure I get in all my protein. I'm hopeful that this will jump start my weight loss again - did it for you? Did you notice a difference? Thanks again for checking! Rose

    Surgery Day

Good advice, Janet . .. and best wishes qtney1! Sounds like you are doing well. Everyone is different . . if the gas sets in, you will know. And GasX helped me also, as well as walking as much as possible to get the gas moving out. Keep us posted.

    First Fill Friday

After all the debating and thinking and thanks to all of my band buddies who added their thoughts, I scheduled my first fill and lo and behold, my doctor could do it this Friday - wow! Janet'sjourney made a comment that made so much sense to me. She said that fills are part of the process with the band. Well, yeah, they are. So I'm going to ask for just a small fill. I still don't get "starving" between meals, I'm just stalled and needing a little boost with my weight loss. I still journal my food and my portions are still within range. I'm just not losing . . .I guess that's what fills are for, huh? I am so appreciative of those who have posted the experience of their first fill - I feel prepared and not nervous because I know what to expect, so thanks! And to update on my last post about being under the weather . . I'm pulling out of it . . .rest is the best medicine, I think - still have a cough, but feeling much better overall. And thanks for all the well wishes . . . you're the best!

    Diet Restrictions On Fill Day?

My doctor's office has told me there are no dietary restrictions on the day of my fill. I've read here that many of you cannot eat/drink before your fill. Do you know the reason for that? I am wondering if I would do better to restrict my diet even if the doc's office doesn't require it?
  10. Janet . .. I wanted you to know that you made a comment on my post that really helped me. I posted my concerns and questions about getting my first fill and was it time . .. I had several responses, and you wrote that "fills are part of the process with the band" . .that just struck me and I thought, "well, yeah they are" . . I am scheduled for Friday! You're such an encouragement - thanks. And I read your post about not feeling well . . I hope it passes quickly.

  11. Hey friend, I am missing you . . . hope all is well.

  12. Hey there luckdog . ..haven't read from you in a bit. How are you?

  13. Thanks Debra for getting back with me about cooking the chicken. I'll try searing it for sure. Your recipes are great and I appreciate your daily post!

    New here and very worried....

fool4dance is right - it is a personal decision and research is your best bet - read everything you can to learn what will be required after surgery. Personally, this is the best decision I've made for myself - I haven't had any problems and am doing well on the journey. I started off by saying, "I don't care if the weight comes off slowly, just so it stays off" and I still feel that way, but the weight is just dropping off and I'm thrilled with that. More exciting, though, will be getting to my goal weight and staying there - that has never happened before. So . .. best wishes in YOUR decision!

    keeping track of fills.

Sounds reasonable to me to go slow . .. I am going Friday for my first fill and plan to ask the doc. to take it easy . . . I don't want trouble.

    Diet Restrictions On Fill Day?

Good thoughts everyone - thanks. I do think I'll take it easy at least on the day of the fill. It makes sense to me, having read the explanations, that you would want the food to have passed through before the fill.

    My rebirth date

Congrats on your surgery date and lots of prayers coming your way. I also chose to tell just a very few people (my mom, my hubby, and my kids), and after sugery and I was stronger, the first person I told said to me, "cheater" . . . and THAT is why I chose to not tell people! But by then I was stronger and could handle it. Each person has to do what works for her. God bless and best wishes.

    I'm a sicky pants

I'm definitely under the weather with cold/cough/congestion - yuck. I had to go into the office and do some work on Saturday and was so glad when the day was over. I crashed at home Saturday night and all day Sunday. I would not have gone into work today (I hate to spread stuff around when you're sick), but had a project that had to be done, so worked four hours and came home and slept. From Saturday morning to Sunday night I used up an entire BOX of Kleenex - wow. Now my nose is slowing down, but I'm coughing. Ughhh, but this too shall pass. I'm just bummed that I haven't been able to get my walking in, but I am still eating on plan and drinking lots and lots of water.
  24. I'm so glad you are doing well . .and hope the infection is very minor and clears up quickly. It is difficult to remind yourself to eat slowly and chew . ..until something bad happens. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your progress posts! Rose
