    Not Enough Calories?

Thanks suthrn and sandy, good suggestions. I do use the protein shakes . . .maybe I just don't understand the plan from my doc's office, as I said, they want 3 meals/day - no snacks (ideally) . ..but only 1/4 c protein, 1/4 c veg/1/4 c starch or fruit at each meal. ..I'm just having a really hard time consuming enough calories . .. and I'm still supplementing with a 23g Nectar (protein powder) in the afternoon to get enough protein in . .but at only 500 calories, that's just not enough. We have a support group meeting Wed. night and I'll get clarification . .anywho, I really like the idea of deli turkey around string cheese . .mmm I'll definitely try that! Thank you both sooo much!

I NEED HELP.....or at least some advice

Me too! And I think it helped me to just have that taste - it satisfied me. I wasn't suffering with the liquid diet, I just wanted to taste what I was smelling. No harm, no foul. Stick with your plan, you're doing great!

    My Hands!

I've been looking for signs of my weight loss. Yes, some weight is coming off, but I refuse to get hooked up on the numbers - they can be so deceiving. So I've noticed that my pants are a little looser. I've noticed that of all things, my glasses fit more loosely on my face. I've just been waiting for some sort of confirmation, ya know? Well, bless my husband's little pea pickin' heart! We were walking and holding hands yesterday and he told me that my hand felt smaller in his hand. Awww, I melted! Just what I needed to hear - totally unsolicited and totally sincere. Ahh, strength to carry on!

    Almost 1 week post-op....

Daisy, I'm sorry you are having that feeling of something stuck . ..I don't have any suggestions for you . . I did not experience that . . .I can offer you my support and best wishes. Perhaps call your doctor's office for suggestions. Let us know how it goes for you . . .thanks for sharing.

    Hey look! Entry #2!

How about an elliptical machine? It is smaller than a treadmill and a much more intense work out than walking. Just a thought .. . good luck!

    The beginnings.

Sounds like you are well on your way PM, best wishes. The endoscopy is no big deal, in my opinion, I've had several and my dad had them every 3 months because he had esophogeal cancer. The way they are done here, you are under twilight sedation - not full anesthesia, so no breathing tube needed . . you go to sleep and when you wake up you don't remember a thing. Hope it goes that well for you. And I hope the rest of your testing goes well also. This is a great journey, welcome aboard.

    Need Info Please

I echo what Bklynike has said. Overall, no complaints. My primary doctor did tell me of one of his patients who had the band surgery, but did not follow the guidelines. He was in the emergency room 5 times because he kept over eating and then it felt like he was having a heart attack. He is now having the band removed. It doesn't have to be that way though . .. the band is a tool, use it to help you and you can succeed. Good luck on your decision.

    Wow...

Remember that losing the weight quickly is not as important as being well .. .take care of yourself.

    One more week

I suggest a couple of things: Ask your doctor if you can take GasX (they make a dissolvable strip) and if so, pack some for the hospital and also walk, walk, walk, as soon and as often as you are allowed, it will help move out the gas. Be patient with yourself and give yourself time to heal. Follow the rules your doctor gives you. Blessings to you - hope all goes well.
  19. Hi Debra, I'm looking for a little assistance if you don't mind. Your recipes are so great and I thought you might be able to help me . . .I don't like fish, so don't eat it. I can get down tuna if I "doll it up" enough. But my real struggle is chicken . . I used to love chicken of all kinds, since being banded, I find it too dry - no matter how I prepare it. I just can't seem to handle it. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!!

    2 days Post-Op :)

That's amazing! I was in overnight and I had to ask the nurse to help me get up - several hours after surgery . . .that does sound really quick, but so glad it went well for you. Best wishes!
  21. Hi Blondi, I am not going stir crazy at home yet . . . been keeping very busy - yikes what will I do on Monday when I go back to work (ha). I see the dietician at the doctor's office tomorrow and will advance my food plan. I'm now supposed to start doing the 3 meals a day only (and supplement with protein shakes if I get hungry) - I have lots of questions for her because I just don't see how to get 60 gm of protein in with just the 1/4 c of protein 3x/day . . .I've been getting in some pureed tuna, but can't get the chicken down, it is so dry when I puree it. I'm sure she'll have good advice. How are you doing since your fill?

    Update update update update update

Sounds like a good plan . . . makes sense. Hope you continue doing well. You know, the nurse at my doctor's office told me that they have a man who has lost almost 200 pounds and has had only one fill in two years, so . . .everyone is different.
  25. Thanks for your friend request . . . I look forward to blogging with you . .. best wishes on your journey. Rose
