Good Luck!!
-
I will have a drink now and then with friends. I just make sure they are mixed drinks that do not include any carbonated ingredients. Wine is also ok. Some people have a very low tolerance after surgery. I don't think mine is lower, but it wasn't really high in the first place

Oh wow! Who is this person's doctor?? I have never heard anyone say you have to AVOID healthy food. It sounds like they are eating all of the things you should try to avoid! There is also not a hard and fast rule on what can become stuck. I can eat almost anyhting, but one person may have issues with pasta and another with chicken. I have issues w/ bread, but not all of the time and it depends on how doughy or thick the bread is. Is this person losing any weight? I'm not saying it can't be done, but that would make it a lot harder. I just know that I still have to watch what I eat and a diet without any healthy fruits and veggies isn't good for anyone. You might get skinnier, but your blood pressure and cholesterol will be through the roof!! Again, all I can say is "wow!"....

Good luck!!! It will be over before you know it.

Is your port area sore?
crecia1975 replied to jamiesdoingit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry. You are still trying to heal. It's normal to be sore after 3 weeks. I had my surgery 10/12/10 and I am still careful around the port side. I remember fearing the flipping of the port. Mine is ok so don't worry. -
Breaking up with Bread
crecia1975 replied to Damn.Blonde's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad my post helped you. I was always so embarrassed by the fact I gained weight before the surgery, but it happended and I guess it's what I had to go through. I ate everything in site, but I learned from it and got past it. I only talk about it now because I want others to see they are not alone like I thought I was. I still have a long way to go, but I already feel so much better about how I look and feel. I wish you the same success on your journey. Please let me know how it goes. -
Started the mushies and now I have an upset tummy!
crecia1975 replied to Emmster321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry. Your body is just a little freaked out from all of the drastic food changes. I had the same thing happen to me. Your body will settle down. Just give it a day or two. -
I also have Cigna and I was told the six months had to be consecutive. If I missed one month, I would have to start all over again.

You handled that very well. I would have been ready to cuss him out.

Fell Off the Wagon Today :(
crecia1975 replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't see what you did that is so bad. You are a human and you got hungry. You had some snacks that weren't bad. I don't see the issue. Stressing won't help you and I'm sure the scale will be ok. Just make sure you get in lots of water when eating salty pickles, but I think you had great snack choices. -
Awesome!!! That is incredible!!!

Breaking up with Bread
crecia1975 replied to Damn.Blonde's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your feelings are perfectly normal. I was so freaked out by the thought of losing some foods, I actually gained about 25-30 lbs before I was approved for surgery (I had to do the 6 month waiting game before my paperwork could be submitted). I just kept thinking about so many things I would have to part with, so I ate like a fool. I was sad and nervous about "breaking up" with my favorite foods, but you know what? It's not that big of a deal. I couldn't eat bread for a while and I didn't really care. I am just focused on my body getting healthier and the scale moving down. You may also be surprised by what you might be able to eat. I can eat just about anything. I just have to make sure chicken is not too dry and bread can't be too thick or doughy. I also have to watch out for potatoes. Sometimes they go down fine, but sometimes they feel like a brick in my chest. The band restriction fluctuates for me sometimes. I've only had 1 fill so I don't have a lot of restriction, but I like it that way. It allows me to eat a variety of foods. I can't tell you not to feel anxious, because you will anyway. Just remember that your feelings are normal and you might have to "break up" with as many foods as you think. You will just have to break up with the portion sizes. I wish you good luck with your surgery and the journey ahead. Please keep us posted. -
Well said!!!

You sound like a really good boyfriend. You're right when you say a woman has to feel beautiful inside. You are very insightful. Keep being supportive and I think trying out some weight training with her is a good idea. I love to work out with my husband. You sound like you really love her and that's what she needs right now. Please keep us updated.

What is this bump?
crecia1975 replied to pamela3782's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that experience and mine went away. Swelling I guess?? -
She can try some weight trainig to build muscle. That might help. If it doesn't, she may want to look into some plastic surgery to remove the skin from her stomach and lift her breasts.

I had 155 lbs. to lose when I was banded. It seemed like such a HUGE number. It's best to not think about the large number because it can be overwhelming. I just focus on 5 lbs. at a time. It works a lot better that way. I had someone ask me how much I've lost and I still can't believe it's almost 70 lbs.!! Those 5 lb. increments add up a lot quicker than you realize. You can do this. Good luck to you!

I have at least 2 ( and sometimes 3) Snacks a day. My doctor is fine with snacking and the staff always high fives me regarding my food logs. I continue to lose weight so I don't think snacking is a bad thing. I too used to worry about snacking and then I started doing something that worked for me. I pack my breakfast and lunch for work. I make both meals a little bit larger than what I can actually eat. I'll eat some of the meal and then think "I need to finish my breakfast later". The rest of my breakfast or lunch is essentially a snack later. It's still healthy and it keeps me from getting too hungry before the next meal rolls around. It's all just a mind game and this works for me.

Questions for those who have been here for awhile
crecia1975 replied to beccaboolane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can eat all of the things you listed. I just have to make sure I do it in moderation because chocolate and chips are slider foods. -

She did not have the lap band surgery. She went on Jenny Craig. -
Be happy that you are taking control before your weight is horrible like mine was. I'm still overweight, but my BMI was 50 when I got my band. Good Luck!!

I wouldn't care if someone said I looked sick. A size 10/12 is not sickly. I bet you look really good. If someone gives you the eeeeewwww again, just tell them to kiss your grits!!
