I am considering going to See Dr Ortiz in Mexico for a lap band procedure. From what i have read he is supposed to be world renowned at this procedure, If anybody has first hand experience with him i would love to hear your thoughts on him and your experience with him and the lap band procedure in general

If anybody from Alberta has been banded in Mexico could you please tell me if you took the Alberta health Care reimbursement form with you to have the doctor fill out or if you just filled it out yourself when you got back. Thanks

I thought i would chime in on this from a male point. I am 335 pounds and am booked with Dr Ortiz on June 28 th for my Lap Band. My wife is supportive of me and has stood by me through thick and thin. She is worried about the procedure and us going to Mexico to have it done. We have read on these boards for hours and watched videos and done research and so on and i think she is finally convinced that it is for the best and that i will be ok. She has joked that when i lose all my weight that i will leave her for another woman. Thats the farthest thing from the truth. She has supported me through thick and thin (pardon the pun and i am doing this as much for her as i am doing it for me.. I want her to be walking on the clouds when were out in public and not worrying about what everybody thinks about the big fat guy. I am sure your partners are more worried about the operation and the safety of it. If they are trying to sabotage you its because most men have a petty mindset. I know as an insecure male that the thought of losing my wife/girlfriend would probbaly drive me to do some stupid things, but at the end of the day i would want what is best for my partner. I am a good enough father and husband to be secure in the fact that no matter what the size of my partner that they love me for me.

Thank You everybody for your help. I have booked my surgery for June 28 th. I am excited and nervous at the same time. Can the people who get fills in Calgary please tell me who they use and how they went about contacting and setting up an appointment with them. I am going back to Dr Ortiz for my first fill but after that i would like to stay in Province

Can someone fill me in on the process of submitting to Alberta Health Care and what the refund might be. Also did anybody use it as a tax write off.

Jac I was just hoping you could give me a bit more information on Dr Ortiz, my husband is consdering using him for his lapband surgery and I am concened about him leaving Canada to have this surgery.
