How long does bloating last?
TonyBison replied to mousek's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 28th too. Man that bloating feeling is probably been the biggest drawback of this whole thing. It is getting better. But sometimes when I do take a drink I get more pressure and feel some gurgling in the belly. I am really looking forward to getting back to a more normal lifestyle. Honestly to this point I am not 100% sure I have done the right thing. I am a pretty active person and am feeling a big time lack of energy. Anyone else? Any ideas? -
Banded on the 28th feeling sore
TonyBison replied to cathyhall's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Monkey Momma, I am feeling a bit better today too. I took a shower and have been doing a few things around the house. I still have the gas pain, I hear gurgling in there and hope it all keeps going out one end or the other.. LOL. You can have nothing but Clear Liquids for a week? Wow. That is a rough one. No protien at all? I hope I feel better more tomorrow I am to drive about 2 hours to go to a family birthday event. -
Banded on the 28th feeling sore

Hey TeBurgess, It would be nice to stay in touch with another fella. How big were you when you went in? I am 6'3". I started my pre-op liquid diet at 325 and weighed in yesterday before the surgery at 304. I have been able to loose weight via diet and excercise. Heck about two years ago I was only 260. But keeping it off is always the challenge. I took this big step in the hopes I can stay committed and get to a good weight and maintain. I am hoping to get down to say 220 to 230 and I would be quite pleased. Is the soreness getting any better? As the day goes along I seem to be doing a bit better. Still might take some of that narcotic liquid med about bed time. stay strong. -

I had my banding surgery yesterday too. Man sometimes I wonder how I got here. It all seemed to go by fast. I have the same issue with gas pain/pressure in my chest cavity. Hard to take really deep breaths. I have been able to drink a bit today. took about a 1/2hour to get the protien shake down. But it did get down there. Some strange sensations maybe it is going through the band. They found and repaired a hernia while getting the band put in. I guess that is a 2 for 1... :-). I am really really looking forward to feeling better and getting to soft foods in a couple weeks. All the best to you and the recent banders... Tony -
Anyone getting banded April 28th?
TonyBison replied to lakeside's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got banded yesterday. They also found a hernia to fix while in there too. I am a good bit sore and my chest cavity feels full of gas. Deep breaths are not easy. I hope this all passes soon. I haven't been taking much for pain meds because I don't like that loopy tired feeling. Might need some for sleep tonight. How is everyone else doing? -

24 hours from now I am to be starting my Lap Band surgery. I do have some butterflies in my stomach. Anyone else? I hope things go well and I am able to get home. Really looking forward to life as normal too. But know it is going to take some time. Down about 17lbs when I started my pre-op liquid diet. -

Post Surgery liquid to soft foods
TonyBison posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi There, I have my Lab Band surgery early next week. As you can imagine going through the pre-surgery liquid diet I can't wait until I can get some soft foods. It is to the point I am dreaming about cottage cheese . I am curious how long after the banding surgery was it before you had soft foods regardless if it was physician ordered or you did it on your own. Also curious about the things you were able to eat for soft foods. Thanks. -
Post Surgery liquid to soft foods
TonyBison replied to TonyBison's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Guys. I am looking forward to getting the surgery next week and crossing that step off the list. I am also just looking forward to getting towards a normal lifestyle again. Eating, excercise, healthy choices. -
I am over 1/2 way through the pre op diet. I am to have 2 weeks of liquid diet only. 3 boost energy drinks a day (morning, noon, dinner). At this point I am thuroughly jealous of those who are allowed a dinner with some protien and greens.. But the weight is coming off. Getting my lap band next Wednesday.

Cheating on Pre-Surgery Diet
TonyBison replied to kookaburra's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 6 myself. What a pain in the butt this liquid business is. I did have a chicken breast 2 days ago. Boy does food taste good after you don't have it a while. I will survive and I imagine will have a few other cheats that are really good diet choices. Sure are a lot of people that are preachy on here. Don't beat yourself up. Just get back on the horse. Get some excercise with the diet and all will be good.
