I had been interested in weight loss surgery for several years. I had tried many diets without much success, and knew that drastic action had to be taken if I wanted a long happy life, even though I was still healthy at the time. Because of a lack of doctor's records, I was told the first time I checked into lapband surgery that it would be five years before my insurance would even consider paying for the surgery. Five years later and another 30 or so pounds heavier, I was finally approved. Due to the timing, I only had 2 weeks from my approval date to my surgery date, so there really wasn't a whole lot of time to have a lot of second guessing and cold feet. I had outpatient surgery on December 30th, 2009, and was home within 2 hours, and back at work in 4 days. Recovery was not much of a problem, and I'm so happy that I had surgery. The process hasn't always been easy, and it hasn't been as fast as I would have liked, but I'm seeing and feeling progress every week, and am enjoying the difference that weight loss has made in so many areas of my life.
