Hello, My name is Bryan P Townley and I am morbidly obese! I was an athlete in school, football, basketball and track. When I got married in 1989 i weighed 140lbs with a 26" waist. I could eat anything I wanted and never gain an ounce. After I got married and was not as actived, and a smoker, I went up to 175lbs, which for my hieght was the perfect weight. Then I quit a 10year smoking habit! I jumped 100lbs in a little over a year and 17 years after that I hit my highest weight of 346lbs. I tried it all to lose weight and in 2007 did all the steps to have the gastric bypass done to be shot down by my insurance. Now three years later it was approved no questions asked and my surgery is now 13 glorious days away! I quit smoking for my daughter and my other kids too, but my daughter is alergic to cigarette smoke and this young lady of mine is getting married in october on board the Disney cruise ship and with lots of hard work, her dad gets to walk her down the isle the man he was when he quit smoking for her!!!I started my preop diet yesterday and its hard! But I have the willpower and desire to see it through because of what lays ahead for me! I am hoping with this tool and LOTS of hard work at the gym, I can lose 100lbs by october. If you are reading this, please send me any tips you have with your sucesses and if anyone else has had sucess in getting the loose skin in the stomach area to tighten up without having the surgery, please let me know how you did it. My insurance will cover the cost if I loose over 100lbs but I would prfer not to do that.

My pro op iet consists of 2 protrien shakes a day, one meal that is 4 to 6 oz of meat and 1/2 cup of vegs (no corn or peas) for 2 weeks and all the water and clear liquids i can drink. The protien shakes must have at least 20 grams of protien and no more then 5 grams of carbs. It sucks for sure and to make it worse, I am an assistant director of dining services at a private University so i am around GOOD food all day long that I can no longer enjoy.

Hey HopeandHealing, I am getting banded on May 3rd with Dr. Brandon Helbling through St. Alexis / Mid Dakota Clinic in Bismarck. I had just moved to Mandan from Minot and setup a new primary care doctor at MEd Center One and he refused to discuss or refer me for weight loss surgery so I found a new docotor in Mandan at one of the St Alexis clinics there and told her that I needed a new primary care docotor and what my goal was and what the doctor from Med Center One told me. I asked her to review my medical history from my doctors in Minot and after that if she would consider refering me for Lap Band. She was amazed at hope prepared I was before seeing her and a week later after getting my medical records from Minot she setup the referal to Dr. Brandon Helbling. That was January 11th, I had my psch eval, dietary session and appointment with Dr. Brandon Helbling on Janurary 18th and now my Surgery is set for May 3rd after getting my insurance approval. Feel free to contact me for the name of my primary care doctor if you would like. -
Hello, My name is Bryan Townley and I am morbidly obese! Let me share a little bit about myself; when I got married in 1989 I weighed 140lbs and had a 26" waist and had to wear a belt to keep my pants up! Two years after being married I weighed in at 175lbs, which was ideal for my height. I was not as active as I was in highschool, I was an athlete playing football, basketball and track, and I smoked pretty much since the 7th grade. So in 1992 I quit smoking as my youngest daughter was alergic to it and I was unable to go sledding with them as I had became so out of shape. A little over a year later I was 100lbs heavier and now another 17years later I peeked at 346lbs and I am currently at 320lbs. Three years ago I was all prepared to have the gastric bypass and was shot down by my insurance and to my great suprise, this year the accepted my request for lap band on the first attempt! I started my pre-op diet yesterday and in 13 short days from now on May 3rd my life is going to change forever! This could not have come at a better time because the daughter I quit smoking for is getting married in October onboard the Disney cruise ship and I will get to walk my daughter down the isle as the man I was when I quit smoking for her! So as soon as I am cleared to exercise, I have a workout partner lined up that will help me maximize this tool that I am being blessed with! I want to try and be at 180lbs by the time she gets married so I got al long hard summer ahead of me! Any tips and tricks would be appreciated and if anyone has had any success in getting the stomach skin to shrink without surgery please let me know how you did it. I want to try to get it to shrink without surgery even though my insurance will pay for it if I lose over 100lbs. I look forward to getting to know everyone here! Take care, Bryan
