New insurance - no coverage
jbhedge2 replied to jbhedge2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks to all that replied. All good pieces of advice. I went to my HR and she is looking into it. Says she didn't realize they didn't offer it... My bariatric office is getting the appeal paperwork and I will go that route, also... If needed, I will try to negoiate being a self pay patient...last resort!! I need my band and need the support and help from my docs and fills!! Nelsonn, I have no clue what your post was about .... Happy New Year to all! -
I was banded April 2010 and had BCBSNC coverage thru the end of the year. My company has switched to UHC and my Bariatric office went to pre cert my fills and was told there is no bariatric coveage with my plan. Am I out of luck? Is there a chance that if I appeal it I can be covered. Looking for others that may have gone thru this and what steps I should take... Very upset today. Thanks Jayne

Vicki, is your instructor Dawn Lloyd? I take at the Deep River Gym in HP... just sounds like the same plan she does for us!! I really enjoy it as un-coordinated as I am!

I have had migranes over the years, but never very bad. Usually 3-5 a year. I was banded on April 29th, 2010, and have had 3 since then and #4 today. I am wondering what I am not getting enough of... , I wonder what I may have depleated from my system? I don't want to have to take medication on a regular basis. Any suggstions or ideas?

My choice for the protein shakes.... 1 chocolate muscle milk lite, add 1 stick of instant coffee granules, like Tasters Coice, and 1 pack of Truvia (the BEST sweetner in the WORLD) blend in a Bullet-type blender with ice!!! Great Frappe!

I regards to the aritifical sweetners that could trigger the migranes, where does the new sweetner Truvia fall? It claims to be natural... I have had migranes over my life, but usually 2-4 a year. I was banded 2 wks ago today and I had one during my 2 wk pre op diet period and have gotten aother one today. I am just trying to figure out if there is something that my body might be lacking? Any ideas?

How long does bloating last?
jbhedge2 replied to mousek's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded on the 29th too, the bloating is better today. On Saturday, I was really wondering what I had done!! But I realized yesterday that I was trying drink to much at one time. The "sip, sip sip" routine may sound cheesy, but it's the gospel!! Such a learning curve!!. Had staples removed and replaced w/ steri-strips today. Amazing what a difference getting the metal out makes! Looking forward to my protein shakes again!! Day 4...out! -
I am here also, tomorrow begins the new beginning of the rest of my life.... Scared? You bet! Excited? Absolutely! Here we go!....

Goal Size vs Goal Weight
jbhedge2 replied to 2911plans's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ok, I am a newbie to all the forums, but just pulled this one up.... I have my band next week, 29th, and i just don't get it...I am a size 24, yes 24, and am reading about you all being sizes 6, 12, 14.....OMG I have not seen those sizes since I was 15 yrs old, and I am almost 50!!! I cannot even being to fathom losing that much weight to be able to consider those sizes.... I will be just so thrilled to be able to get out of the "women's department" into a 16!! I am almost 300lbs and it is a bit frustrating when I read about someone doing a procedure as drastic as this when they were in 16's to begin with, or barely weigh 200lbs. Does anyone else share this feeling. More power to all that can achieve thoses goals, but honestly, I will feel like a winner if I hit 200!!! -
Hello to all, I am 9 days away from the biggest thing I've done in years! I will be having surgery next Thursday and have decided that the more support I can have the better it will be. So...I signed up on the site and put alot of my history out when I registered. I have been overweight all my life, and this is a piviotable year for me, I turn 50, I will be married 30 yrs in September, and 6 months ago, my PCP told me that if I didn't do something about my weight, all my problems, high BP, high cholesterol, sleep apena, borderline diabetes, fibromyalgia, etc, would have me dead in 10 yrs. So... that was my wake up call... I am thrilled, scared, worried, excited, and afraid all at one time.... Give me some pre surgery advice. I am doing the "liver shrinking diet" as my surgeon calls it... It's more like a "no-nothing diet" but I'm on day 6 and have done relatively well. Look forward to hearing back from lots of you soon!

Greetings from NC-the Journey Begins
jbhedge2 replied to jbhedge2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for the welcome, I will be having mine done at High Point Regional Hospital. Dr THomas Walsh will actually be using the Realize band but I found this site and I liked the activity, so I join it..... Do you live in NC? I see you are a Duke-ie! My husband is a big Duke fan, also.
