Today I am getting SLEEVED!!!
mp8btpc replied to MrsMaddBroadway's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was generally sore and uncomfortable around the stomach, chest and up into my shoulder area for 4 days or so, then it seem to start being less noticeable. Once I was back at home in my own comforts it felt so much better. I think it is totally mental. You are doing awesome though because seriously on day two I wasn't in pain but I was just exhausted and the tv in my room did not get turned on ONCE. I just wanted to sleep though it was hard to get good rest. I had to make myself do my walking and breathing treatments. They did give you a spirometer to blow in, right? That is very very important so you don't get pneumonia. That would really make a persons chest feel like crap. I am impressed too that you get a video of your procedure. That is one confident doctor. I likey! I jealous too. -
Temp. Disability Benefits
mp8btpc replied to TStew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup, I live in California and when I had a tummy tuck three years ago my doctor filled out the disability paperwork and I got SDI for 6 weeks. I think the reason they are so generous with it is because you actually pay into those benefits. I was shocked that I could get disabilty pay for an elective procedure but when I researched it online I found the confirmation they would cover it and once submitted even with the CPT code they didn't hesitate on the claim You will have one week waiting period before your entitled to benefits. So if they will cover it for an elective procedure I am sure they do it for a medically necessary weight loss procedures. You can also get the benefits if you are not working but worked in the previous 18 months and are NOT getting unemployment. -
I am also crossing my fingers, I felt your dissapointment when you posted about your denial. It sounded like you had everyone that would qualify a person for the surgery so the fact that some paperwork got lost/misplaced is not surprising but certainly an easily corrected error! So yay for you and best wishes.

Need to get serious about exercise, AGAIN.
mp8btpc replied to Tiffykins's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Yay, everyone is jumping on the motivation train! Chilo, I seriously would have stayed at home today too vegging out if I hadn't wanted to follow through with my commitment on this thread. So I went to bible study then went to the gym! 55 minutes on the stair climber/cybex burned 402 calories (gotta have the two)! -
There is a measurement they take to decide if you will need a lift. I am posting a link that gives an illustration of how to measure that and explains further. Be warned of course DONT PULL UP AT WORK! It is a plastic surgeon website and has naked breast pictures! DONT OPEN AT WORK! Breast lift calculations. When I hit the link on the implant inquiry I had no idea where it was for, then I got the follow up contact and was a little concerned. I was going to contact Dr. Pompa's office about it too, I know the huge twin towers she is in houses a ton of different types of doctors and offers services. Plus, she offered a certain discount for plastics if if I kept in contact with her office during my recovery. I think makemeheal website has lots of info on doctors even in Mexico, I figure if I could trust myself to go have 85% of my tummy removed I could research enough to go there to the right doctor for implants. I would totally trust Dr. Aceves recommendations too, it is early in the game I can already feel myself obsessing over it like I did when I got a tummy tuck and like for this surgery. My husband just rolled his eyes and was like well I guess thats what we will be buying next. LOL.

Ok last month I posted my pre-op and my pics thus-far in my journey. I think I stated on the post that the pics were taken in June and I ended up not having surgery until middle of August and had gained 14 more pounds between those dates, but I didn't have pictures reflecting that weight. Well, I sent my recent pics to the doctor as a testimony for her facility and I was sent a very sweet thank you for my correspondence and they attached my surgery day pre-op pics. WOAH, I was surprised when I saw those puppies...I thought I would share them with ya!

I couldn't agree more Brian, I noted that if left unchecked I could graze my way into some serious calories! I jumped back on the bandwagon yesterday morning and am going to try a different approach for the Christmas holiday. At least though we are aware of it and find it unacceptable. That is a good sign that we are conscious of our eating and not just shoveling things in without a thought of the consequences.

Never looked but you know Walmart has a cheaper priced alternative for just about every item under the sun! Worth a try.

Hi everyone, I'm new here and have a few questions
mp8btpc replied to warrior68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Warrior, first off welcome to the forum you will get lots of good information here to sort through. I am sorry you have had such issues from trying to get approved but at least in this case they are really trying to figure out with your disease how healthy each choice would be instead of just deny deny deny. I do not have information about anyone having Crohns and having VSG or Sleeve surgery. There are quite a few band to sleeve revision patients here that can give you tons of info. I think there is also a specific thread topic for just that class of sleevers. I hope you find someone that can help you answer those questions, but I just wanted to welcome you to the site. I am about 4 months out and don't regret the surgery one bit. I am glad I did not go through with the lap band (lapbandtalk) is where I actually found out about this procedure and quickly moved over here. Your situation is different though with your disease and there is an ask the doctor thread here and we get some great responses from some wonderful doctors regarding different scenarios. You may try asking for some info there! -

Congrats on making it to the losers bench..ye haw! Sorry you are having pain and nausea issues, hopefully with the introduction of a little water you will feel more satisfied and hydrated and get some better rest. Keep us posted and your hubby sounds like a doll. I could use a little foot massage myself! -
Very EMOTIONAL Eve of My Sleeve
mp8btpc replied to newnatalie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
NewNat I am so glad that you are taking the VSG plunge. I have no doubt you will be extremely successful and though it takes some work you sound like a strong woman who will get the job done. We all had the night before jitters it is pretty usual, just take a long warm bath and try to relax. Your gonna do great. Post as soon as you feel able to and try to walk every hour even if it is a short distance. I had a routine in the hospital I would get up and walk (i didn't get too far), I would go to the bathroom while up, come back to the bed and do my breathing exercises (I HATED that dang spirometer) then lay back down and take a nap and start the process over like every hour and fifteen minutes. It got easier and easier. -

Youv'e got mail! Flabbergasted
mp8btpc replied to mp8btpc's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
MissDiva: I think that is why it was so weird for me to see. I had not allowed any full body pics to be taken of me in forever. I would hide behind people if someone came at me with a camera. Thank you though. It was just so....raw and not posed.... it was shocking for me! -
Well, I only have one quote for $3000 for cohesive gel implants but I know I would need a lift with it so I am waiting on that price. I am thinking that is pretty cheap and I will have to find out more about the doctor. It was through Mt. Zion group and well that concerns me a bit.

I think it is totally up to you, I personally would never be upset someone I was friends with who wanted to keep something private. As a friend I allow them to share what they feel the need to share, friendships don't come with strings attached. So if you want to tell her something along the lines as mentioned above "that you have a minor medical need that needs attention and that you would rather not get into it" I would think she as a friend would be supportive but not push the issue plus the fact that she is your boss she still has to walk the line of federal regulations and can't push you to share personal medical information. Or wait until you have the procedure and then share so you can get the support you need and not have to worry about the nay sayers pre-op.

Yup you look beautiful, what a gorgeous face and you still have boobs (hope that wasn't too forward lol). Congrats and continued success.
-
That is so funny because that is the one "drama nonsense" show I watch. I love Olivia and G! I had never heard of doubling up on the bra's until she mentioned thats how she poofs up her boobs! Anyways, I actually contacted a coordinator about getting implants in Mexico and got a quote the other day. I was thinking March or April for surgery. I just need to start my research as with the sleeve I want to make sure I am properly informed and secure with my surgeon. I would like to express my condolences to everyone (myself included) that the surgery is messing up the girls on. Breasts are such a part of femininity and sexuality that it is understandably emotional! I mean if the guys thought they would start losing inches on their penises they probably would not even have the surgery (for reals!), but nooooo they have reported actually gaining more visibility of the appendage! NOT FAIR.

Awesome! You have done wonderful in such a short time. I am glad you have experienced such success, it is motivating.

45 minutes on the stairclimber! 315 calories burned. Feels good to break the a*s to recliner habit. Tomorrow same thing, plus some strength training is on my agenda! -
How did everyone do at Thanksgiving?
mp8btpc replied to PamelaAM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well dang, i found the thread and I had read it and responded. My memory is usually pretty good but I must not have filed that one away. So sorry Filica, hope you are recovered soon. What course of action are they taking right now? -
Prayers for you both!
-
Yay that is awesome! What date was your surgery? I hope to be at my drivers license weight in the next couple of weeks too. Then I hope that when I renew it in another year I can put an even lower true weight on it!
