    Counting Carbs -- Not!

Raisin bran will keep ya regular with lots of good fiber.
  2. I believe that would fall under insurance fraud and likely most doctors won't risk their license to do it. I know it seem like a great alternative and only a half truth but could have bin consequences for the doc. Just my thoughts.

    Brand New Here!

Welcome to the site, I am 33 and my bmi is about 32 I also want to lose about sixty pounds. I am heading to Mexico in five days do surgery. After a bunch of research and one change in doctors lol. I will happily and objectively try to report my doctor and the facility after I get back. Just keep researching and go with your gut lol no pun intended.

  8. OMG, you look amazing. I bet you have a ton more energy too. Losing all that which appeared to be in your tummy area must feel light as a feather now! Congrats to you.
  9. Nine more stinking days! Ativan has been my best friend I am such a nervous mess!
  10. I am so happy that even though it was a hassle to have a change of doctor (I feel much better now btw), I do not have to do a pre-op diet because my BMI is lower. That makes my stinkin day.
  11. I am already stressing on the boobs and surgery is still twelve days away. I will be getting those done for sure I love boobs and I already know any shrinkage will be mourned by me so I say It Aint Going Down Like That! Lol
  12. I love the coincidence of your husbands coworkers mother-in-law having used Dr. Aceves that is awesome! Congrats on your hubby coming on board to your surgey!
  13. I would love to offer to slap the sass right off her mouth! Please please please!!
  14. I am already on some medication for depression, I unexpectantly lost a grandfather and grandmother a month apart last year and I really hadn't lost anyone close to my in my life (lucky me) but I was having difficulty along with my stressful job handling it...anywho, I gained about 10 pounds in one month after my grandfather died and since I have gained about 5 more. When I had a check up with my doctor last week and I mentioned having this surgery done in Mexico and I asked him if he would handle follow up care (he was more then happy to) he stated he thought I should tell my counselor about it because he was worried that if I use food for comfort what is going to happen when someone takes away the proverbial "blankie" from me. I told him I would do that this week. I am glad I am already in counseling and I can use that during this process. Good thread! Glad to have the heads up.

    OK, I'm scared

This all sounds totally familiar and totally expected. I over analyze everything and I keep playing over all aspects of it in my head. I have about 12 days till surgery and I am picking apart the same things as you lol. I wish I could just go with the flow more. I mean I haven't lost a pound yet but I am still wondering about clothing etc. I like to say I just like to be prepared but I am a control freak I will admit it. That said surgery is a big step physically and emotionally along with it being financiallly significant in your case as well as mine. Just try to stay calm and talk things out it will work out great and your going to be a great success. Now if I could only take my own advice! heheh Though I did manage to justify the cost to myself by assuming that I will be eating a whole lot less and in the long run I will save the money I spent on surgery by eating less

  18. :svengo:Well after the weekend I spent in San Diego I am even more determined to have the surgery and lose weight. First off I went because my mother who is 54 and my cousin who is two years younger then myself, were running the Rock and Roll Marathon with 25,000 other people. YES 25k people running in this race! I was surrounded by a ton of tough fit people and felt like a big giant porker and the thing is I know it is my own fault and that is what sucks. The girls did great by the way, so proud of them both. We stayed at the Marriott Resort and Marina which was gorgeous and had a ton of business people and they hosted a charity benefit where the men were in suits and the women in formal dresses. The people were beautiful. Fitness guru Denise Austin was in the main lobby as I walked through yesterday (a concierge I was chatting with pointed her out) she looked amazing in person with GREAT LEGS. Anyways I am rambling, it is time to stop feeling like a failure for not conquering my weight issues and GET ER DONE! Sorry for the rant. It was a long self conscious weekend. :001_tt2:

Getting a job just for surgery coverage?

Honestly I don't know too many part time jobs that offer insurance. Usually full time jobs with bigger companies and a few smaller ones will have insurance to offer employees. Maybe you can save enough to pay out of pocket by working part time? You may want to look for jobs at the local Health and Human Services branch or any other county job, they usually have decent insurance and hire often.
