    before and during pics

    I can see that!
  2. I know I already expressed how great you look but I was rereading your post and how you fear going back to that place and are working your tool. I too am so scared about that I am glad to know that I am not the only one who has had this done that still doubts the tool. I have been able lately to eat more then initially and it freaks me out. I have to remind myself that I do eat a ton less then before and I need to still work my tool correctly. Protein first and stop eating when I am full. I have gained 4 pounds the last 2 months. I am frightened...i will admit it.
  3. WOW that is such an amazing feeling and I know exactly what you are feeling. You are doing great and congrats to you!
  4. I was in no way being derogatory and I hope nobody took it that way. I just wanted to illustrate also that just because the care here in the US is more expensive it didnt mean you would be getting better care then going to Mexico and paying less or vice versa! So you did get a better price and a better doctor! It can be accomplished! YAY! edited because I need to use spell check once in a while
  5. While I totally agree with you Suzanne let me play devils advocate for a moment. Didn't you yourself price shop even if a little bit? Couldn't you have had the surgery in the states (if indeed you are from USA) if it wasn't a matter of the cost? I know that doctor Aceves is the best in Mexico and his price is much less then a lot of the doctors in the states and believe me I have heard nothing but great things about him. He was however out of the price range I was comfortable with as I paid cash. There are some lower price doctors that I would NEVER in a million years go to but that is my personal choice but I do think we all did price shop a bit by just going to Mexico instead of paying 15-20k here in USA. Just a thought. I think on another thread similar I said that more expensive isnt always best but cheap/ cheap probably means some corners are being cut and I am not comfortable enough when it comes to my health to go that route. Doing homework is best advice we can give and of course our own personal experience with our physicians is an important piece of the research
  6. Hey everyone. I have a friend that is looking into surgery and since their insurance has bariatric exclusion they are contemplating going to Mexico like I did. However they need info on in house financing. They can come up with a couple thousand and can make payments but I am not sure what direction to send them. Does anyone know which doctors or companies offer this. I think their credit is either maxed out or not strong enough to get some of the medical credit companies to finance (not really my place to ask I guess lol). Anyways, any info on in house financing would be great. Not sure if a certain amount down is required etc and who offers this. Please advise
  7. Happy Thursday everyone!

  8. I also used Dr. Pompa as some people mentioned above she is a median priced surgeon but has a great track record on safety. I had a great experience with her. I think Dr. Aceves is well worth the money but I think there are some doctors like Pompa that are very very safe that are more affordable if you are crunching numbers. I know it is so hard to wrap our heads as Americans around the concept of having to shop for medical care because our insurance system here is so different. I guess it is more like shopping for plastic surgeons in America then anything else. I think if you do have insurance and you are not used to paying for medical care out of pocket or minimal out of pocket we arent sure what to do, if we had to pay cash we would have to rely a lot more on cost and repuation in America then we do currently. 2nd: Expensive doesn't always mean the best.... but cheap usually means someone is cutting corners somewhere. IMO. I don't want corners cut just because it is a crap shoot on if might be a statistic. I want the cards stacked that if I have a complication there is adequate medical knowledge, equipment and a team that has the wherewithal to know that they need to get me somewhere else and FAST.
  9. Wow that has to be an emotional roller coaster for you. Not to mention that poor girls family. How horrific.

    My Gastric Sleeve Story

What a ride! You did great though and I hope you are feeling even better now that it has been another week since surgery.

    Throwing things away.

You will go through sizes so fast it wont bug ya that you threw them out. I can't stand clutter and am the anti hoarder lol. If all else fails....TOSS IT OUT!
  12. Oh believe me I know exactly what you are feeling. Only a few people really knew that I was having surgery but I heard it a ton and even now when I see my weight loss ticker I sort of feel like a poser compared to people who have lost such an astounding amount of weight compared to what I have lost. People would always tell me I wasn't "that big" when I was on a diet or complaining about my weight but they sure as heck come at me with tons of compliments now when they see me. Especially people who never knew me when I wasn't overweight. I want to say to them "THIS IS THE REAL ME" I was trapped for about 7 years in a body that didnt feel like me. It was horrible. I only wish I had done it sooner. So congrats to you for doing this FOR YOU.

    SLEEEVED IN CALIFORNIAAA

Congrats you sound like you are in good spirits! Keep that momentum and have a great journey. Keep posting and let us enjoy your journey.
  14. Well congrats on getting the financing period. I am sure the interest rate is killer but think if they had denied it. GAAAAH. Maybe they can fit you in if you explain your school situation or possibly maybe if they get a cancellation you can go then? I don't know anything about the other surgeon but if you have done your research on the current doctor and you really want him I would try to not change last minute.

My wife seems jealous or upset

She probably is a little bummed on having to wait longer I would probably be the same way cause I can be silly like that. But just assure her that you will give her the best after care EVER. Also keep in mind that you may not require as much care after surgery as she does or vice versa because everyones experience is different. So assure her that even if you require minimal post op help that whatever she needs you will be there to do it for her.
  16. That sounds like the way to recover! I love it, best wishes.
  17. Wow so many people are close to their surgery dates! Congrats to you all and you will do great.
  18. Well it is close to my one year surgiversary and I have to say that I have been a total lazy bones the last 3 months and I am kicking myself in the butt for it. I am jumping back on the exercise bandwagon. I gained 3 pounds the last couple of months but I think it is from some medication I have been taking but I should be able to stop in the next week or so. THANK GOD. I know I know 3 pounds big whoop but I still want to lose an additional 15. It is so great to come back and see everyone that is working their sleeves and giving so much inspiration for those starting their journey. Way to go girls and guys too. Here is a pic from shopping last week. I shop wayyyyyy to much now lol. I never have problems finding something I like. WIsh me luck in getting those pounds off and finally getting motivated again to stay on track. I still eat small portions but I have been craving a ton of carbs, sugars and soda. If I just pay half a bit of attention it is no problem to keep losing. Say a prayer for me please.

    Panties

U are Never too old to avoid the VPL (visible panty line)! Just purchase ones that are seamless. I like the ones at target the xhillration brand or however it is spelled, they usually have them in individual bins along with selection of bikini and boy short type THEY ARE SUPER COMFY. Victoria secrets has some seemless ones also. Usually I just wear them with anything that might show a panty line, like my dress pants etc. With my denim I usually just wear bikini style.

    The dreaded hair loss

Mine fell out after each of my childrens birth and a bit after my tummy tuck, but nothing compared to my hair loss after the VSG. It has stopped but I lost about 30% of my hair I would estimate. Thank god I had a ton to start with but I am having to keep trimming it because it just is sorta stringy. I see a bunch of new growth around my temples so I am guessing it is coming back all through my scalp. Maybe your body doesnt respond to surgeries or health trauma that way but mine sure as heck did.
  21. That is so wonderful Tiffany. You have been so patient and giving in your help on this site, it just shows that you reap what you sow. You are getting the baby you were trying for. Amazing news.
  22. That is so amazing. Congrats on a job well done. I bet you feel like a million bucks. Keep up the great work I bet by this time next week you will be in the wonderful world of ONDERLAND!

    day 2 and cant pee!!

I also found that after I had my children and couldnt urinate that sit over the toilet with a bottle of warm water and sort of letting it trickle over the lady parts that it helped to relax and stimulate it to work. It was always much easier in the shower with the warm water trickling down too.
  24. HOLY MOLY, those are smokin pics. You are positively tiny. Great job and congrats.
