10 days out fluids and exhaustion
mp8btpc replied to iowagirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First off you and I are in agreement. THANK GOD FOR ANTI-ANXIETY DRUGS POST OP! i took about a half of one each night the first 12 days or so. I have since only taken two halfs the last 2 weeks. It helped me sleep a lot more soundly a few nights ago. I woke feeling really refreshed. I think everything your talking about is not out of the norm. Everyone experiences things differently but some things are very common. I too was anxious about leaks and just in general the first couple weeks. It has gotten better the next couple weeks. I was moody from the post-op diet restrictions, lack of calories and I unlike others did not get all my Protein very often the first two weeks. I am getting it now through food. My energy level creeped up once on mushies. Now that I am treading lightly into normal foods it is getting stronger but if I have a day that I overdue it...you can bet the next day I can feel it. I am taking my Multivitamin but it is a huge chewable that I would like to chuck in the trash. I may just bite the bullet and get some of those gummy kind everyone talks about. I am also taking a sublingual b12. I started my exercise this week and I already feel more energized just from that activity. I get tired after the high wears off but it is good for the psyche also. I'm rambling. You sound normal to me. I don't know about the intake of the fluids, but if your doc says it's fine then I don't see why not. Take Care! -
Well it is not Monday but my weigh in's will be every other friday so here it goes. I am down 19 pounds in the 28 days from my surgery!

Very low-carb diets may INCREASE mortality
mp8btpc replied to ouroborous's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know that people that do low carb diets often have an increase in their blood pressure, especially if they are not eating lean Proteins. It scares the pants off me because my hubby is now trying to lose weight and he is doing very low carbs but he will chow on meat all day long. Things like smoked sausages, polska kilbolsa, carne asada, sausage and eggs along with tons of cheese. I told him the point was to eat lean proteins and low carb it for a healthier way to do it. He has lost weight this way before though his doctor appt showed a higher bp. He just turned 40 last week and I am afraid of him having a coronary. Though right now the doc said he is one healthy guy...other then the weight. I agree with Chilo moderation is the key. After I get close to goal or at goal I want to have a well rounded diet and exercise program. For now I know that carbs go down way to easy for me and they are my weakness so I do best to stay away from anything with white flour in it. -
Changing Tastes: What were the big surprises for you?
mp8btpc replied to NLWC.Christa's topic in Food and Nutrition
Do you have a carniceria (Mexican Meat Market) in your area? I can't stand plain chicken breasts even when they are cooked, seasoned and really tender but they have this chicken at those markets it is sort of yellow in color (from the seasonings they use to marinade it in) it is called chicken preperado and it is delicious. The seasoning is amazing, i can barbecue it or just dice it up and put it into a frying pan on medium and get it cooked up. It tastes wonderful and you don't need to do anything to it other then cook it. It would also be wonderful in a soup. Damn I am making myself hungry heheh. -
Done - band to vsg revision
mp8btpc replied to Lynn B's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
First off congrats on your victory of having band removed and getting the VSG. I don't blame you on being upset for having to stay another night. I can't tell you how claustrophobic I was and just wanted to get the hell out of the hospital. Hehe. I am crossing my fingers you get to go home. Be well. -
Strangely enough I think going out and getting some exercise first thing in the day helps with overall energy level. You may still want a nap later but you will have more energy. That is at least in my experience. That and time.

Speak up those with leaks & infections!
mp8btpc replied to Can.sleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree totally. -
Bowling huh? Well damn I was thinking I would start bowling to lose some weight soon! HEHEE. Loooking at that guide, I am wondering if I should not have hiked in the foothills for an hour and a half yesterday? HEHE. I will be honest I wonder if some of those (not the lifting and such) but the other things if they are geared more to heavier sleevers or even smaller sleevers that have led a more sedentary life for a while because of restrictions due to health and otherwise?

Carrie I wish you all the best. I think at least making the complaint will be the first step in feeling like you are taking charge and moving forward. -
Speak up those with leaks & infections!
mp8btpc replied to Can.sleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also think people feel like they were warned plenty of times about the unusual number of complications from certain physicians and maybe if they report their complications they feel like people will say I told you so? -

Changing Tastes: What were the big surprises for you?
mp8btpc replied to NLWC.Christa's topic in Food and Nutrition
So far the only thing I found I don't care for the taste of is regular Pespi (I had to try it!) lol. I was a Pepsi freak...so badly that I chose establishments that carried Pepsi rather then Coca Cola. I can't handle diet soda...believe me I have given it a really good try a few times but can't stomach it. So low-and-behold, post surgery I took 3 sips of Pepsi and it was NASTY. So I am going to keep telling myself that and not try it again. heheh -
Anyone have horrible headaches post-op?
mp8btpc replied to Donna T's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should at least run it by the doctor. A lot of people get post anesthesia headaches and also if your used to having coffee and soda's it could be from the lack of caffeine. I just took some tylenol for mine the first couple of days. -
I jacked this link off Obesity Help forum...interesting little study. Elsevier

So glad your back and safe. Keep your chin up things get easier fairly fast.

LOL that is funny, my weight is coming off the top half of my body too. It is strange because previously it always came off my butt and legs first. -
Cigna PPO Approved today (out of network cost)
mp8btpc replied to On2Thin's topic in Insurance & Financing
If your out of network max is $1350, sometimes I think the out of network and in network OOP are different amounts. I think... -
Swift I took a look and amazing transformation from your first post-op video to your present loss of 70 pounds. Your face is sooo much thinner you look so much slimmer. Great job!
