Help! I have stalled majorly!
mp8btpc replied to ajwatson11's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think tracking the food on a site like fatsecret.com has made a huge difference for me this last week. I can see exactly the ratio of calories, Proteins and carbs. Yesterday it got close to the end of the day and I had not gotten as much Protein as I would like and so when I got a little hungry, I made myself a scrambled egg and had a slice of deli ham. The calories were minimal yet it upped my protein quite a bit. The website also has you log in your activities from walking, running, tennis, shopping or cleaning house and it calculates your total calories burned based on those things and just your normal calorie burning from being alive. Each day will give you a total number of calories you saved or went over by using the amount you burned and the amount of calories you entered in food. I LOVES IT. One day I had wayyy to many carbs. I just try to keep my carbs a bit under my protein and am now staying away from white carbs as much as possible (i did have a bite of my sons birthday cake though). I am still a sleeve newbie so this is just what I am trying. Try shaking up the exercise to something totally different like running in the sand or walking up a hilly road. That said your loss has been great but I think you could probably get a few more pounds off and get that BMI down! I have faith in ya. Great job thus far...i know it is far from easy. -
Tons of questions from a newbie!
mp8btpc replied to Misty1975's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My bmi was 32.8 when I initially started looking at surgery. I believe a couple girls who were around your BMI have used doctor Aceves. I don't think there is a huge waiting list if you have the funds to do the surgery. They do state you need a passport and that takes some time but others have stated if you have proof of applying for the passport along with your birth certificate and your i.d on hand that there is not a problem at the border. I was like you I just can not get the weight off and keep it. I get tired of struggling to lose these 50 or so pounds. I knew if I let myself go I could get even bigger. I proved that after a stress even happened in June and I gained 15 pounds more before I went to have surgery. I had no medical conditions or comorbities YET. So I paid out of pocket to go have it done. If I was heavier or had the health problems my insurance covers the procedure but that just wasn't an option for me. -

Choosing new procedure; not worth complications
mp8btpc replied to joyfuljoy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lol it just hit me that you seemed like you were treading water and not getting anywhere -
All that huh? LOL I know it is not funny, it is just hillarious how peoples perception of a place can be so dramatic. I know there are dangers in Mexico but I think certain places are the hot spots. I also know I felt pretty secure with the trip straight to the place I was having surgery and the hotel was located in the other wing so I really didn't HAVE to leave the facility. I did take a walk to Starbucks with my mom and she went daily to get her coffee there. Then we got loaded in the van and went straight to the border when we went home. I felt more scared in a sketchy neighborhood I ventured into at Chula Vista California the day before surgery hehe. They are parents so of course they worry. I am like my mom, if I am worried about me kids doing something then I make sure I am going to be there with them.

Presurgery diet question
mp8btpc replied to bchrist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All doc's are different just like the post op diets are varied too. Depends on what the doctor feels comfortable with. With one doctor I was going to use I did not have to do a pre-op, then switched docs and had to do a week of pre-op. I say yay to the no pre-op diet docs lol. I would suggest that if your a big caffeine drinker that you possibly stop that a week or two before surgery because I know I always got bad headaches when I didn't get my caffeine. So stopping it cold turkey after surgery could make you have unnecessary withdrawls and discomfort. Just my thought -
What protein have you liked the best?
mp8btpc replied to meriteri's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For ready made protein drinks and I also think they also make it in bulk to purchase...Hands down Muscle Milk, those taste delicious. I love the vanilla creme (im a vanilla junkie anyways) and the chocolate one is also great. My mom has drank them for years while training for marathons and my children are known to grab them from the fridge to drink we had to stop that because they are not cheap lol. I buy the muscle milk light vanilla creme from WalMart and move it from the fridge and put it in then freezer about 15 minutes before I drink it. YUMMY I am having one tonight as my snack and I can't wait. -

Help me help you! That is the theme here. You can't do it for someone they have to help themselves. We all supported her feelings of violation but I think we ultimately choose in this life if we are going to be happy. I think she is choosing to sink further into her despair and blaming everyone and anyone else. I know this is natural and my goal is not to make her feel worse but to tighten her boot straps and be strong. Decide I am going to be happy! I am going to move forward and I am not going to let this dictate the quality of my life! There is also nothing wrong with seeking a doctor for some medication if she is in a depression but do something. -
Gas pain - 2 1/2 days out
mp8btpc replied to Nene16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gas x and walking as much as possible in the confines of your home. Day 2-5/6 are the roughest IMO. Just try the gas x and stuff and it should work itself out...but it sucks, i totally agree. -

Ms Lisa there is a private messenger on this site. I notice you pop onto a lot of threads to ask for a lot of details. I know your doing your research and good for you but you may be able to better track the specifics if you use the private messenger then you'll have a lot of info in your inbox to refer to -

Update on Surgery against my Will
mp8btpc replied to Carrie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think overall I made less of a fuss after they almost killed me with a medication error on my first surgery attempt. At least I moved forward quickly. I feel for her feelings of violation if she tried to back out of the surgery. I just think it is time to stop being so angry. Make the complaints, hell file the lawsuit but all in all stop being a victim. Take your power back and stand up and say, I wont let this break me! -
Feeling a bit dizzy and nauseated ...question
mp8btpc posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started feeling a bit dizzy yesterday evening and little sick to my stomach. I woke up today and I feel the same way. I am hydrated (i think? my urine is pretty clear) I have been constantly drinking Water and tea. I am not running a temp or anything. I just wondered if at 22 days post op if it is diet related or maybe something going around? Any thoughts are welcome. -
