18 hours post op - photos
mp8btpc replied to TwoStepsBack's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow you did bruise a bit but those are healing nicely. I was allergic to every type of tape and band aid I tried so I had big red itchy areas of skin around mine. Stopped wearing bandages two weeks ago and finally fading. -
Amen! Isn't he? I remember the first things out of my moms mouth after she watched me stop breathing during my first pre op, they led her back into the room and she says praise god, god is good she said she was down the hall pacing and thanking god for what he was already doing for me. I went back I had the surgery I have hit some mental rough spots but now I know things are exactly how they were meant to be.

Ah man I'm sorry to hear that will it be a possibility down the road? -
I gained 15 or more pounds from the moment I decided to have surgery to the moment I had it. Part of it was stress eating the other part was me rationalizing that I needed to give each food I loved a "proper goodbye" lol. What blows is that I have lost officially around 20 pounds and most of that was gained in the 3-4 months before I had surgery...Wth.

And you thought my incision exploding into my eye was gross! I think you trumped me! yay! LOL:001_tt2:

Need help with appeal letter to BCBS Michigan
mp8btpc replied to Cautious2010's topic in Insurance & Financing
Tiffy- Girl you must be one organized cookie. You have so much info and it all seems to be organized and thoughtful. Seriously, I tried to remember where I read something about ghrelin today...I couldn't even find the damn thing lol. I think they should start paying you on this website. -

That is so awesome. Congratulations, it has to feel good to have that obstacle behind you. I bet your totally jazzed! Enjoy your success. -
Welcome, I went in at around 33 BMI but it hasn't been long enough to give you my experience. There are several people here that had the surgery at lower BMI's and have been very happy with the results. I too plan on trying to stop losing somewhere in the mid to high 130's. I have no desire to lose my bubble butt or my curves. I just want to scale them down a bit. Heck I may even try to stop at around the low 140's. First I just gotta make it there

I LIKE HIM ALREADY!:001_tt2:

YES! This happened exactly to me. The incision that I had an infection in sealed up and the active infection was gone but there was a big hard knot under it and I thought well I guess my body will just absorb the junk. Then suddenly last Friday I was in the tub and I looked down and it was sort of poofy. I left it alone then I got out of bath and got dressed. Suddenly I remembered it and I was walking into the bathroom to grab a cotton swab to use to poke it with and when I put pressure on it WHAM it nastily exploded up into my eye ( I was sort of bent over looking at it). I know, I know TMI. I washed my eyes out and it continued to ooze a healthy amount for a bit. The hard lump of junk under it is gone and it scabbed over now and is back to healing up.

I was so confused when I purchased a box of the Atkins bars because on the front of the package it says in big letters only 2 net carbs, then I got the bars out and the nutrition information on the back of each bar says 22grams of carbs. Anyone explain this to me?:001_tt2:

Congrats, I know I felt like I hit the jackpot once I started on the pureed/mushie stage. I am sure people will be able to give you some good ideas. I was boring and just stuck to refried beans/cheese and creamed Soups along with my yogurts, cottage cheese and such. But enjoy your next diet step!

Anyone prescribed 2 PPI's a day?
mp8btpc replied to mp8btpc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got the ok from my PCP to take two of the Prilosec OTC daily. One in morning and one in evening. I started yesterday and I think it takes a couple days to show a change so I will check back in after I give it a go. I think prescription strength Prilosec (omeprazole) comes in 20, 30 and 40 MG and the OTC is just 20 MG so I will essentially be taking the higher 40mg dose. Pirate- what is Gaviscon? Sleeve- give it a couple days, I think they take some time to get the medicine to start working properly. I had little hunger right after surgery but mine has returned. I was trying to find a thread with some information from a doctor that said it may take a few months after the stomach heals for the stomach to get a true sensation of hunger. I couldnt locate the thread. Also depending on your stage of post-op it may be because your eating mushies etc. I get hungry a lot now but I eat so little that it isn't hard to shut my tummy up, but it is a pain in the butt. -
I am of course going to speak to my doctor but I don't think the single Prilosec I take each day is doing the job. It appears by the middle to end of the day I can feel an achey burn in the center of my chest and my tummy starts rumbling...even very soon after I eat. I was wondering if anyone was prescribed to take it two times a day?

What to bring what to buy?
mp8btpc replied to SouthernSleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went commando while in my lose cotton jammie bottoms. Screw the underwear! I didn't bother with the bra either. If you have an i.v in then it will have to be capped off and stuff while you get it on and off, but I guess you would do that while changing clothes anyways but I can't stand to sleep in one so I said forget that too. I'd rather sit in the bed with all my loveliness hanging out! HEHE It was just me, my jammies, my flip flops for walking and my hair piled on top of my head in a loose rubber band. I was looking HOT! P.S i did brush my teeth and shower though -
what do you wish you knew before hand
mp8btpc replied to salty91's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No it is not a standard thing. She had a hernia of some sort that they apparently corrected while doing her VSG. Hernia repairs are very painful but at least they killed two birds with one stone :001_smile: -
Surgery!!!! QUESTIONS???
mp8btpc replied to hollysmith0208's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Or have the sleep over early before you go for surgery. I would say even the following weekend would be a ton of improvement from day 4 post-op -
OMG that is so funny because my previous drivers license said I weighed 172, I actually weighed my highest weight of 215 at the time when I took it. Then I lost 35 pounds on my own and had that same license for another 3 or more years and people would totally freak when I showed them it because my face was huge on it and it looked nothing like me any longer (i was only briefly that weight). So finally this year I had to renew and get a new picture and the lady at the DMV was trying to hide her surprise at how different I looked, she just kept saying wow this doesn't even look like you anymore. Then she said you have lost a ton of weight since this haven't you. I said yes I had though it was only 35 pounds it made all the difference in the world at that point. So she said well we have to put the new weight on the license so she thought I looked like that at 172 and so I told her I now weighed 157. So my new license looked 100% better but I actually weighed 175 when i told her I now weighed 157. LOL. I took the picture in December of last year and I gained 20 pounds since then before I had surgery. So I am down around 175 and stuck with a license that says 157. I hope I can actually :biggrin2:weigh that soon enough.

How soon/How much walking
mp8btpc replied to ChrisV67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me no walking at the gym on treadmill until week 4 and only for 30 minutes. I thought it was pretty lame considering I wasn't planning on putting it highest incline and running my ass off. I was already running errands, doing shopping and normal house cleaning. I just wasn't lifting or stretching anything too much. So last week on week four I went to gym one day and walked 30 minutes at a turtle speed, the next day I said screw it and went for an hour and a half hike up this road that everyone uses to train on. I never went more then a brisk walk and it was a steady winding crawl to the top. It felt great, but I wouldn't have tried it at week 2. I am rambling sorry lol. I guess you gotta ask the doctor first. But I would say a walk around the neighborhood wouldn't be too much as long as it isn't 106 degrees outside like it was during my 2nd week. -
Luna bars have a great one that is called peanut buttter cookie. YUMMMMY. They have them at Walmart and I think at WinCo.
