Dr. Jose Rodriguez - Looking for Info/Experiences with him
mp8btpc replied to Scorch's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My VSG surgery was uncomplicated. I think I went through normal 2nd day blues and had some "what the heck did I do moments" but I just kept focused that I would feel better and I would wait to make my mind up until later. I had a couple bad days around day 6 and 7...those were emotional but by day 10-15 I felt like a new woman. By week three I felt like myself again, I could chew and swallow with no difficulty and food has been going down well. I have started my exercising and it is making all the difference along with tracking my food. It helps for me to see my Protein to carb ration and to keep my calories at a good level. All in all I am a fan. Keep a positive attitude as much as you can post op but allow yourself to go through the emotions and understand it is a process.:scared0: -

YAY and congrats. I can feel your excitement. Great choice of surgeon by-they-way. WOOOT WOOT -
Welcome, I am glad your doctor suggested the sleeve. We have a lot of band to sleeve revision folk here. They will be able to give you a lot of support and I think you will be amazed by their success. I actually was just reading the lap band talk forum, a few friends post over there and I was reading thread after thread of poor results from the lap band along with the many ongoing complications that can pop up at anytime from the band. I have to say I am very glad I did the sleeve instead. Keep us updated!

Can I just say that you are the hottest 61 year old I have ever seen! You go girl. The love life sounds like it needs some work on both of your parts. You are too young to not be enjoying your sex life. But that is your call. I don't think it is too late though...nudge nudge.

I was eating steamed broccoli at 3 weeks out. If it was soft and you chewed it really well and aren't in pain, I think it is perfectly fine. I bet it tasted wonderful also!

Congrats on your date! It will be here before you know it.

New Here. Here's my story so far.

None of that was useless, these little details help shape you in our minds. It is often hard to get that through the computer. First off welcome to the website. You will finds tons of people at various different stages of pre and post op. You can find tons of information and it may help come up some questions to bring up to your doctor. Congrats on starting the process. It sounds like you have a busy life and that could help to be a great distraction while all the hoops are jumped. Keep us posted and good luck with getting the surgery. -
OMG I snort laughed when I read this...I also blushed. LOL

AniO you may not have acid reflux but you could still be producing way to much acid for your little tummy and a PPI could help a lot. I had those same feelings going on and my tummy rumbling and just generally making it self known constantly and a day or so after I started my PPI it felt totally different. I get the hunger sensation now and that EMPTY feed me jabbing feeling but the rumbling and churning has gone away. Just a thought

I had to wait until the tummy healed up a bit. I think it restricts blood flow so it could impaire the initial healing. I also have heard since it is a stimulant it can lead to cravings and more hunger. I used to have a McDonalds Iced Vanilla Coffee every day. I now have added a regular cup of Pike Place Roast with a shot of sugar free vanilla and some sweet N low from Starbucks. I only get it 2-3 times a week. I would probably do fine with it daily though. I just thought if I can cut back on it and use it as a treat that would be even more enjoyable. I sat outside Starbucks the other day with my Luna Protein Bar (peanut butter cookie YUM:001_wub:) and had a cup in our historic downtown district. That was the best damn cup I have had post-op.

I WANT A HUGE SALAD! It has been on my mind a lot, of course I would get a huge one and eat 4 oz of it and be done lol.

Set my date and starting to freak out.
mp8btpc replied to Des0520's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I totally understand that statement, my mom has expressed her concern that for the money I paid and my low BMI that I might eventually gain it back. We know a couple people who had gastric and gained it back and a few people that had the old stomach stapling in the 80's and they are all big now. I also feel bad because I encouraged this girl at work to have the lap band over a year ago. She had it and I think she hated it. I don't think she even lost more then 20 pounds. I think she never even got a fill. She was always heavy and she comes from a heavy family. She is absolutely beautiful too and she has a great husband (he worked with us also) who loves her the way she was. I don't work there any longer and I know she is pregnant now but I just don't think the lap band was right for her. I don't think I am any more special then anyone else so I have no idea how to reassure myself or anyone else that I will be different and keep the weight off. So I just have to use the tool daily and not abuse it, I was lucky I could afford to have it done and do not want to waste this gift. -
Finally started to lose!
mp8btpc replied to PamelaAM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well congrats on the scale moving. I know it has to be frustrating to lose it then suddenly gain it back. I think it will look good on your pre-op journey to have some weight loss documented! -
YAY for you! Welcome to the bench and congrats on a safe surgery. Enjoy that leak test hehe.

My post op info stated by week 5 I could return to sexual activity if I felt up to it. I broke that guideline and week three resumed some activity taking it very slowly. I didn't worry about having an "O" that first week because i was afraid how all the tightening up would feel on my tummy. This week (week 4) things are back to normal, I am not going crazy mind you but things feel normal. I did however leave my tummy covered, those incisions just are not so hot lol. sorry for the tmi

I have had quite a bit of steamed broccoli post op and I have had no issues. I always try foods very slowly. I try a couple small bites and see how it goes. If I have no issues I will add them in the next day. I was served a tiny bit of lettuce on a taco I got the other day. I took two bites before I realized I hadn't tried lettuce yet (plus the warning about waiting on lettuce until later) so I pulled the rest off of the taco. I never felt any discomfort after it. I have been craving salad like a crazy person but I am going to wait on the raw veggies for a while longer.

I was just going to quote this same source!! I always "Dangle" it (pun intended) in front of hubby when he is dieting LOL.

Awesome and welcome Bryn, I started off researching on lapbandtalk also and I actually heard about this procedure on that site. I hopped over here and it didn't take much to convince me that this was the best surgery for me. Keep us posted on your journey.

HELP I forget what the 3-day pre-op diet is!
mp8btpc replied to sweetlover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Email your coordinator if that who is initially gave it to you. I used Dr. Pompa also but I worked directly with their nutritionist Daniella, the one she gave me was for like 2 weeks. I talked her into letting me do a modified one that only covered around 6 days pre-op then I begged her to let me have some food the night before surgery so I could sleep with a full belly. She only let me have some Soup or salad. I had a big bowl of pintos and cheese. I fessed up and she said at least i went for Protein. LOL. I would say to ask Calgarygirl but she is already in TJ waiting for her surgery tomorrow. Not sure if she will see this before then. I am guessing it is just clear liquids if it is only for 3 days. That would be chicken broth, Water, Jello, Protein drinks, crystal light and tea. -
My own "What have I done?" moment has come.. please help
