OMG she wants to help you stretch your pouch...uhhh huge clue she isn't qualified to work with a bariatric surgical patient. NOBODY needs to live on 600 calories a day...NOBODy!

It certainly does get better, i think once all your swelling inside goes down you will be able to enjoy a little more as far as quantity of food. I will admit though I still want to just eat and eat because it tastes great but I get full so fast that I am forced to stop and it does leave me a little bummed but I dont feel deprived because I am full i just feel a little down because it tastes good.

Hope this offers encouragement through stalls.
mp8btpc posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I posted this as a response to someones concerns over a stall, but I thought it may be helpful to everyone. First off let me preface this by saying we all need to really look at our eating/snacking/water intake etc when experiencing a stall. That said my aunt (she has had no surgery) has been working out with a personal trainer for 3-4 months now and really works hard at her physical fitness just completed her monthly weigh-in where she was so bummed to learn when she stepped on the scale that she had only lost around 1.5 pounds, but when the body fat part of the weigh-in was done she had lost almost 5% of body fat. So though her pounds were low she had made some great progress. So keep in mind a few weeks of losing body fat is a welcome exchange and will really change the way your clothes look and feel! Chin up. -
Well of course take a look at your diet to be sure you are not getting too many calories or other bad things that will cause the stall. Just in case. On a positive note, my aunt who has not had surgery but has been working out with a trainer for 4 months just did her monthly weigh in...she only lost 2 pounds the last 4 weeks but her body fat went down almost 5% that is amazing. So just keep that in mind if you are working out some and gaining some muscle.

I feel you all! The waitresses keep asking me if everything was ok and eyeing my plate. I just tell them it was wonderful but I just am not that hungry right now (as if I ate recently or something). It seems to passify them lol. -

Well first off thank you for updating us! I am glad that you are out of the hospital and working on recovery. I am sorry that you had to have extra surgeries done but that is also what is wonderful about a good surgeon, they got it all taken care of in one shot. That is amazing. Just keep pushing yourself to get moving even if it is just down the hall and back every half hour. Just don't give up but keep it short and frequent. The same thing with the liquids, get down all that you can as often as you can and keep your eyes open for dehydration. I think as long as you keep trying to move and get those liquids you will do just fine. Take it one day at a time, one sip at a time and one little walk around the living room at a time. BIG HUGS. Glad to see you on the losers bench.

Dr. Pompa & LIMARP Surgical Unit
mp8btpc replied to southernbanded's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I also used LIMARP/LIzaMARiaPompa and had a great experience. I am doing well on my weight loss and my recovery has been pretty easy, just some acid issues. The negative comments I found about Dr. Pompa were actually on another forum and a couple people stated that she did not make her pouches as small. They had both had a barium contrast (think thats how it is termed) a few months out of post op and the sleeves were really small at the top but not as small at the bottom. I believe one of them had hers redone by Dr. Aceves. I actually didn't read about these miraculously until after I had my surgery. I do know most of this went down around the first of last year and Dr. Pompa was consulted regarding the size of the pouch left behind. So I am hoping that after those complaints she has fine tuned her pouch size. I know that a Canadian coordinator takes a large group at least once a month to her. She is a very very good doctor with a great safety record and the groups that have been taken have had great results. Since I myself am doing well on my weight loss I can't complain. I just brought these up because you asked and I wish I had at least read about it before I had surgery, and to give you a chance to address it with her before you go. The facility was great, the staff was wonderful and attentive though I am a pretty self sufficient patient. At this point I would use her again in a heart beat. I can't wait to check out my pouch at my 6 month leak test. Good luck and keep us posted! -
I bought two new pairs of jeans two weeks ago at Kohls and they were size 12 but a tiny bit loose, I wore one and put the others up and now two weeks later I am going to have to take those back and get a size 10, I bought one new pair from Target and they were 10's also! havent been a size ten in a long time. I was wearing 14's but had gained 15 pounds in those and stretched em so I am sure I would have needed 16 if I had bought any jeans right before surgery. I am going to post the pre-op pics and my success thus far when I hit the 40 pound loss mark. I am hoping I can lose that 5 pounds in the next two weeks. It is also really awesome because the tummy tuck I had 3 years ago is finally showing! I am excited and pleased...i am almost giddy.

Ahhhh thank you all, it feels great. I measured myself and I have lost almost 5 inches off my waist alone! I am certainly shrinking it feels so great.

Congrats girl! You are doing wonderful, keep up the good work. -
My link My link Everything I read online from "experts" say not to go under 1200 for MOST women. I just can't wrap my head around 600 calories a day being the necessary amount.

That is such bull crap, it is like companies try to squeeze every freaking penny out of someone that they can. They make these bull crap rules with the intent of milking you for more money. I mean you go in person to cancel the membership, all they would need to do is maybe take a copy of your license to verify that you were the one that cancelled your own account....instead bull crap about a certified letter that is going to sit around and get processed when they feel it is most beneficial for them. ERRONEOUS!

Aceves is the best of the best. I had another surgeon and had a great experience but if you want the best...go with him.

You know the first 6 weeks or so I grazed a lot. It was the only way to keep my belly happy. Now that I can eat a bit more. I dont have problems getting enough down to keep me satisfied. I usually only eat breakfast, lunch early dinner and a snack in the evenings. I dont feel the need to graze any longer.

will i be ready by christmas?
mp8btpc replied to vicki s's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think as long as you have no major complications (and I am certain you will not) you should have no problem going and having a great time! -
How can you say something as nasty as that to the person you love? Believe me my husband and I are brutally honest with each other. We are very very open and honest. My husband has gained close to 80 pounds since we married and I cannot imagine tearing him down for his weight. He is the same person on the inside I married, he is the same great father to my children and i find him utterly beautiful. It has been 12 years for us and that hasn't changed. The sleeve is a tool to help you control the eating. You have to do the work but it takes away the ability to hold as much. It is much easier to see and get results which in turn motivates you. Is it the easy way out? Hell no, but it is effective when used according to the directions hehe.

Victories are always celebrated! That is just awesome.

I was thinking it the moment they wheeled me into my room after recovery! LOL. It got more intense when I was getting hungry and not able to eat the foods I really wanted. Now I am perfectly happy with the sleeve and the fact that I can eat most anything is awesome. I feel like a naturally thin person when I eat. I fill up on a small portion and push the plate away. It is awesome. I go to lunch with my mom a couple times a week and we share a meal and sometimes still have food left. She is a light eater so it works out perfect!

You are totally out of it when they remove it...you are clinically awake but so loopy you wont remember that AT all.
