My Sleeve Journey to Mexico!

Tammy thank you so much for your blog, I had a great time reading it...so very interesting. I am glad that you have made it home safely and are on the other side. Good luck and keep us posted on your success! -
The TT can be quite painful because they peel back the skin all the way up your abodmen and then stitch the muscles all the way down the abdomen tightly. It swells quite a bit and the bruising is internal also, plus the incision hip to hip is bothersome and they pull the skin very taut. It takes quite a while before you can sleep on your side or stomach (a lot longer then the VSG). I handled it fine but I can honestly say I have a pretty good pain tolerance, I wouldn't even catagorize the VSG as painful (at least for me). I had vaginal births with my two children so I can't say how a TT would compare to C section pain. They give you good pain meds after a TT so that could be why I didn't feel it was that painful lol. I will never take percocet again...can you say HALLUCINATIONS! LOL. The doc switched me to some vicodin and I took those for about 14 days post op and in between I would alternate with ibuprofen in between doses the first 7 days. It takes a while before you can lift heavy objects and my incision line still feels funny when i touch it (sorta numb). My belly button was the weirdest thing though and even now when I take a qtip to clean it...it feels so crazy and half numb. I cringe every time i do it lol. Also if you do any sort of abdominal lipo along with the TT that will add to the bruising, swelling and overall pain i would guess.

Did anyone catch The Doctors yesterday? The new TICKLE LIPO? Holy cow I think I might have to try some of that. It is done under local anesthesia which god knows I will try to stick to in the future lol. Here is a link to a Youtube video of it being performed. I think if I had it done I might see about having the fat transferred into my breasts for fullness. It could be a win win situation! infrasonic liposuction or TICKLE LIPO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Mu24bTsdps

Globetrotter, I feel your pain! I know it has to be frustrating but try to stay calm. I tend to lose weight around day 11-14 after my last weigh in. I usually weigh each friday but only officially count the weight loss of every two weeks. I know everyone is different and some see weight loss weekly and others dont. Like you said there is no sense or reason or formula other then what you are already doing and that is getting exercise, counting calories and getting your fluids so just be patient (I know you have been frustrated for a while so that could be easier said then done), but just decide to pump up the intensitiy in your exercise...walk some stairs or something for an extra 5-10 minutes and keep doing what you are doing. Maybe only weigh in every other week or every three weeks. Just try to relax and by all means keep us posted!

That is such a great victory! Congrats...for reals.

I think that scarring is really individual. Some people especially people of african descent tend to keloid scar where it is raised and can be quite noticeable. I think most of us have had some sort of injury or surgery where we can get a good idea of how we scar and that normally will dictate what you can expect during plastic surgery procedures along with a good doctor who knows where to place incisions for an optimum result. I had a full TT 3 years ago and my scar started off really red looking sort of like the same as my VSG scars only it was hip to hip and now three years later it is really thin and white and I am very pale on my tummy so it is not like it stands out, plus they tightened all the muscles like an internal corset. Now if I was someone who hung out normally in a tiny bikini, it might be more troublesome but I take that thin scar over the flabby stretch marked floppy skin that I had before. Plus a lot of women have c section scars so they probably wouldn't mind having that one revised along with skin removal and muscle tightening. I however would stress not to have one if you plan on having more children as the muscles will end up stretched out again and if you had to have a csection they would cut right through those muscles and there goes the TT.

I am so happy that you have gotten more then half way through the needed weight loss! Keep up the low carb dieting and if you get bored at the gym try to go to a local track and walk the stadium stairs..those kick some major butt in a short amount of time. I am trying to get my outside exercise as much as possible before it gets to wet and cold to do so. Thanks to crazy California weather it has been in the 80's this week.

VSG scarless technique on TV this Friday 11/5
mp8btpc replied to iegal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recorded and just watched this!!! It was awesome, the spider tool to complete the VSG rocks...single belly button incision. Try to catch it if you can. Ohhh and the tickle lipo....might have to do some of that too...later on. -
Ok I think it is just PMS but i have been eating all sorts of goodies I shouldn't this week and it certainly doesn't help that all the Halloween candy is still in the house. Normally each year after a couple of days I would take all the Halloween candy to work and it would get scarfed up, however I am no longer employed and due to my extremely low energy level during my PMS time I have been at home with the candy for last couple of days. I don't however feel the need for it until late in the evening. So tomorrow it is getting bagged up and dropped at my grandma's house so she can hand it out to whoever comes her way. I just feel like a failure this week though, I am pretty close to goal and if I stay on track I should hit it by New Years for sure, but I didn't start out having to lose that much in comparison to a lot of people, so I feel like a loser because what if I had a bunch more to lose would I be able to do it, or would I be slacking off? Or maybe I am laid back about it because I am close to goal and I don't have that much more to go? Or maybe it is a normal slump and I will pull head out of butt and get motivated. Maybe this overly emotional thread is simply hormonal and it will pass. I just feel like I paid 6.5k for this I better not waste the blessing!

I wish I was having an over abundance of libido hormones, I tell you I had figured that the more I lost and the increase in energy I have from physical activitiy that I would feel even more in the mood, but alas nope ...I swear it is like nothing going on down there...not interested nothing. My poor hubby is used to us being more intimate and now he can barely sit in the same room without salivating (it is cute) but he is really really enamored by my slimming shape and even though he always wanted me before it is like double whamy now and I just feel NOTHING in the way of desire...It has actually been getting me down I want to feel that again, jeesh I adore the man. Thank god my hubby is understanding and knows it is probably just a phase or hormonal thing and it will level out. GOD I HOPE IT DOES. Any all natural things to try like herbs etc?

I feel hunger especially if it has been quite a while since I ate, i get GROUCHY too holy moly it isn't funny lol. Though I stay full longer and don't realize sometimes it is has been hours and hours since I ate. I don't feel the need for snacks though so it is usually just 3 meals a day and I am more then satisfied. I am not sure if I am happy about feeling hunger or not, I guess I am glad I have a reduced hunger sensation and that I enjoy the food I do eat and it fills me up super fast!

Well, we spent last week at Disneyland and it was so different for me then the last time we went! We usually hold season passes but ours expired early in 2010 and due to me having the surgery this summer we waited until last weeks trip to renew them. I just have to report that I was feeling pretty dang good, I was less self conscious I was actually pleased with what I saw reflected when I passed by the shop windows. I just felt so much more comfortable in my skin. I was rocking my new size 10 pants and I actually had packed a couple shirts I had not tried on in awhile and they were long and loose on me. I had no trouble grabbing the fitted t's out of the gift shops and wearing them. I just can't say enough about how I was able to just chill out and enjoy myself. I am feeling more and more like "me" each pound that I lose. I still want to lose between 15-20 more pounds but I already have family questioning me as if I am small enough already. My brother-in-law spent the day with us at Disney and I got to meet his new girlfriend and I wasn't feeling low and hard on myself. My bro-in-law had not seen me since before the surgery and he was so supportive of my current results. When I told him my starting weight he couldn't believe it. I actually even showed his girlfriend and him my before photos on my phone and they couldn't believe my body had changed that much in 10 weeks. I am rambling as usual... it is just so foreign to feel like yourself again after so long. I still have some work to do I want to be a size 8 and maybe occasional 6 so I need to continue my excersize and diet guidelines. I indulged a bit too much last week but thanks to the sleeve it never let me get too out of hand lol. I maintained weight so I just need to move forward from here.

Infuriating Marie Claire blog about fat people on TV
mp8btpc replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think she got an earful from the backlash emails and media she received for the article. I think she has been fully chastised, I think though she just said what a lot of other people never have the courage to say, which is quite sad when you think about it. FOR SHAME. -
5 days at Disneyland has exhausted me! There is no place like home. On a more serious note...I didnt gain and I didn't lose while on vacation. Guess I can't complain.
-
I guess everyone really is different. Heck I am 10 weeks out as of yesterday and I have been eating pretty much anything I want since around week 6. The only thing I find my stomach not liking so much is broiled shrimp and any sort of chinese food. I do make a conscious effort to choose healthy/low cal high protein foods but I dont hesitate to eat all sorts of foods. I just eat such small portions i dont sweat it. As long as the scale is moving in the correct direction I am feeling good.

OUCH- This was on my friend's Facebook.... RANT!
mp8btpc replied to Pinkbetty25's topic in Rants & Raves
That is disgusting. First off it is a child and that should have been the first clue it isn't funny. With all the light being shed on bullying and how horrible it is for children to endure, it is amazing that anyone finds this funny. I certainly do not. -
Biweekly weigh-in! Starting weight 199 Current weight 161 weight loss of 38 pounds 10 weeks post op!

Mommy2Girls: i just purchased that book on Half.com after I read your post. Niki I am sorry to hear about the requirements for the sleeve being so difficult. I am surprised that they feel that Gastric Bypass is a better option to people who are at a lower weight. ODD I hope that you are able to figure something out and continue on your Quest to get healthier. BIG HUGS

So if we keep sipping on Water periodically throughout the day it will keep the pouch full and give the pressure receptors of the stomach the sensation of having had a meal? I feel hunger it is easily satisfied now though so I don't stress about it. It seems the hungrier I think I am...the less I usually get down before I am full lol.
-
You look great! What a difference. Sleeve or bust: I tend to lose weight closer to my two week marks...does that make sense? Tomorrow is a weigh in day. I do them biweekly and I swear the first week after my weigh in I see nothing then around day 10-11 I start seeing pounds drop...it is strange but consistent in it's on retarded way.

Hey there JSOUZA are you Portuguese per chance? I had surgery almost 10 weeks ago and had a lower BMI also. It was weird to feel like the small person in the bunch when going into surgery, but I too have struggled and dieted until I was blue in the face over the past several years only to gain it back and more. I wanted a tool to help me get back to a comfortable weight and to "hopefully" keep it there. I haven't done my two week weigh in, that will be tomorrow but as of 8 weeks I had lost 35 pounds and gone from a size 14 to a 10. What is also strange is I have previously gotten close to the weight I am currently at by dieting but my body shape this time is much smaller and more toned. I think it has to do with my work out routine etc. I just look and feel so much better.
