Pictures of my progress thus far!
mp8btpc replied to mp8btpc's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Ohhh thank you all so much. I was seriously nervous about putting my pics out there and you guys made my day. I seriously had a smile on my face all day even though I was busy and stressing on some stuff. It was great to just know that I am finally in control of my body and appetite instead of it controlling me. Looking back now at my portion sizes I was a large portion eater for sure. That is what was driving me to gain more and more weight. I see now that my portions are normal (probably even smaller) and it feels good to have a taste of what i want and just be able to put it aside. I also have been able to realize some things like chocolate candy bars from halloween should never never be in my home lol. A.walker your comment about my before pics really touched me. I thank you so much. Your 70 pound weight loss is so awesome and you had surgery only 2 weeks before me. ROCK ON. -
40 pounds lost ....I think after seeing these during pictures I want to lose at least 20 more..maybe even 30. So scary posting these lol.

6 Weeks Out, 30lbs down!!!!!!!

Yay! Sleeve your results are awesome but I know you are working that sleeve too. Great job. -
It is used for anxiety. Doctors often give it out the night before surgery to help a person calm their nerves and get some sleep. People that have anxiety attacks also use it most doctors just have you use it on an as needed basis. If you feel anxious or an panic attack coming on they say to chew it up (so it works faster) and then it will take the edge off. Xanax makes people a bit hazy but if you are truly in an anxious state you don't really feel that side effect. It is widely misused by teenagers who get ahold of it and they actually buy it off the streets because it gives them a bit of a high especially if they take more then a couple or add alcohol to the mix. Ativan is another one for anxiety it causes more of a drowsiness but less of the buzz then Xanax and therefore less addictive it seems to be prescribed more then xanax these days. ALL OF THAT IS MY OWN PERSONAL INFO::: I am not a doctor heheh

A very interesting evening for me...
mp8btpc replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
OMG i would totally freak out if I had a reaction like that. I am glad you were able to stay calm though that had to be a long sucky night! I say hold off on the cereal/milk for a bit longer, you sure as heck dont want to experience that crap again. Good job on the pulling up your boot straps and getting away from the junk food. I know you inspired me to get rid of the candy last week and move forward too. DANG HALLOWEEN lol. I did realize something yesterday though...I haven't had a donut since pre-op and that in itself is a freaking miracle for me. I always love donuts and I have even taken my boys to get a donut 4-5 times over the last three months and I did not get one! YAYA. It is these small things we are accomplishing that we have to recognize and it helps us be more aware of old habits creeping back in doesn't it? -

Well first off welcome home and congrats on having a safe surgery! Welcome to the other side. Secondly I would like to personally stab that nurse in the gullet just for you right now. What a horses a*s, I am so sorry you had to have that experience during your recovery. It is so emotional to start with but I would think about writing a strongly worded letter to his superiors once you have recovered a bit. Moving forward I would like to wish you a speedy recovery and don't be alarmed if you have some more ups and downs. Keep as positive as possible and if you need to vent....this is the place to come!

Post-op diet - not enough calories?
mp8btpc replied to Susanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with all above posters, the first couple weeks I maybe got 400 calories but that was because I was not feeling the shakes etc and I just wasn't able to get much down but as soon as I could move on to pureed/soft foods I was able to start getting more. Then when I reached the "normal" foods area I was tracking my foods and trying to stay around 800 or so and now I get around 800-1000 depending on the day. I don't track it I can sort of do it all in my head and I know when I have eaten too many calories (THANK YOU HALLOWEEN CANDY lol) but there is no way I would stick with a 600 calorie diet for any amount of time. It is counter productive and unnecessary IMO, we need to feed it with good foods but lets not starve it. I like the thought that I am not really "dieting" I am just eating healthier and eating small portions. It is wonderful. Also I was exhausted post op and depressed. As someone mentioned above it happens a lot with anesthesia plus add on top of it the calorie restriction we have forced on our bodies suddenly. Hope you feel more energy soon! -
Wow that sounds horribly painful and irritating! yikes. If it is trapped air you may try taking a warm shower then getting out and laying flat on your stomach on the bed or maybe on your knees curled up with a pillow under your abdomen. My mom runs marathons and the Beans they pop for potassium and stuff while they run causes some major tummy gas and after a marathon she always will lay flat on the bed until it is relieved. Plus on the belly is how I always had to lay my babies when they had colic. Maybe I am shooting in the dark but thats what I would try lol. I hope you figure out what is causing it.

TY! It is freaky to put the befores up..my face was soooo beefy. YIKES It also just hit me that those pics were taken before I went on my first trip to have the VSG (the scary near death incident) and I came home and gained around 15 more pounds after those pictures before I actually had the VSG 2 months after that first trip. I was going to just go to 145 which would be right at the "normal" BMI for me and that is only 15 pounds away, but seeing the pics I still think I can stand to lose at least 20+ ...im still pretty fluffy through the middle and the backside...though I dont want to lose all of that part hehe. I am not sure at 5'4" what weighing 135 would put me at BMI'wise but it might be where I am heading. -

6 months out and questions?
mp8btpc replied to greeneyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your success that is exactly what I am hoping for with my results. I was 199 and hope to get to around 140-145. YAY thanks for the update, though I have no advice on the vits. GOOD JOB -
Hey Chilo, you have inspired me to try to get my before and during pictures up! Hopefully by the end of today. I started at BMI of 34.2 on surgery day. Which was 199 pounds and I am 5'4". My personal goal is 145, I could get thinner I think but I am not interested in being much smaller then that. When I hit 145 I think that will put me right at a 'NORMAL" BMI. Where is your first goal?

YAY congrats on GETTING SLEEVED UP!

You look amazing. What a difference, you have beautiful skin and eye coloring also (so very jealous). CONGRATS and keep working it.
