Oregondaisy: I know when I was doing the eliptical and the treadmill I hardly broke a sweet in 40 minutes. I switched to a 20 minute warm up on the treadmill and added 30 minutes on the stair climber and damn if I wasnt huffing, puffing and halleluah sweating within 10 minutes on the stair climber. Tiffy: I can relate I swear I have that PMD disorder but I refuse to take birth control pills that might help it because they always made me gain weigh and I sure as heck don't need that right now. My monthly mental issues border on psychotic and depressive. It blows. Juliarah: good luck on getting a teaching position! Didn't you just love the new Harry Potter! We went last monday and had a blast. How does getting ready for Christmas in 90 degree weather feel?

Well I made it! We had it for brunch today, my hubby the carnivore ate a ton of it. I browned up some rolls and made some pinto Beans for the side and we enjoyed it. It was delicious! The hubby also put in his order to have it again soon. Thanks again.

Omg this is harder than I thought
mp8btpc replied to lisabug's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone feels like this, and the answer is yes it will be a big change and it is not always easy but post-op hunger is easier handled because the sleeve. You may feel hungry but it doesn't take much to fill you up. So my post op dieting was a lot easier then the pre-op as far as hunger issues. -

Need to get serious about exercise, AGAIN.

Don't you feel it gets harder to be motivated the closer you are to your goal? I know I blame part of it on that, part on stress and part on the general theme of holiday eating. -
Men's fashion after weight loss - any women help us out?
mp8btpc replied to DougNichols's topic in The Guys’ Room
Everyone above had great suggestions. First step is going to a mall and looking at window displays to see what type of clothing you like, would feel comfortable in and fit your lifestyle. If you are usually a jeans and tshirt guy there is nothing wrong with that. I am like LilMissDiva, I don't mind a nice graphic tshirt and some well pressed jeans on a clean cut guy, and SMELLS keep me smiling! I love Calvin Klein Escape cologne and can smell it on someone at 50 paces. I also like Polo Black, Nautica Voyage. I love clean citrus scents, most women I know do too. I get ideas for my hubbies cologne from my subscription to Glamour magazine where they have a ton of pages to sniff out. A nice pair of casual dress shoes with jeans that are of a good length (i saw that stressed above and can not agree more). Bass carries nice casual dress shoes for me. If you are going to go out to dinner and a movie or something put on a nice button down if your not a tucked in kinda guy you can buy the button ups that are cut straight across, usually called Camp Shirts, that are meant to leave untucked but still a casual dress look and a nice pair of darker washed denim. Have at least one pair of khaki's on hand. GoKart, your style is your style and I say if that is what you feel comfortable in then by-all-means wear it. It already paints me a picture of a jock. That along with your ticker style makes a strong statement. hehe -

Your ticker is not working Go back and reconfigure another one and then after it shows you what your ticker looks like on Ticker Factory scroll down and cut and paste the URL code. It will give you several codes for different types of boards and forums. Choose the one that starts with URL (i think) and use that code to cut and paste onto your signature screen on this board. After you hit save here it should show you in the box above it what your ticker looks like. Good luck and welcome again. -

I bet your hubby is a machine when working out...those dang military machines...i mean soldiers lol. So lets do this and anyone who joins our little motivational/accounting group, lets come daily and give an account of our workout. I will admit when I haven't done jack. I think this will be a great motivator for me also. I drop the kids off at school at 8:15, I have to drive them because we transferred them to a school out of our area. It works great because the town they go to school in is where my gym is also located. I have no excuse as my mom, aunt and cousin are all there in the morning so I would never be alone. However I would rather work out on my own except when doing strength training. So I will report Monday that I have jumped back on the wagon. Edit by myself: except not accept...dork. -

OH girl you have no idea how happy I am to hear you struggle with this too. At least you are way out from surgery though. I am barely out 4 months and I have been horrible the last 3 weeks. I went on vacation and came back and HELLOOO only went to gym 2x and ran in the foothills 1x. I used to do that and more each week. I also loved the visual of you throat punching your spouse...I know pretty perverse of me but it was funny! That is how I felt tonight when doing the bills with my husband heheh. I just pinched his backside pretty hard....i turned up the LOVE on the love pat lol. I am pledging to do at least 3 days of good cardio with one day of strength training starting Monday when my kids go back to school. So count me in, I need to lose 14 more pounds by New Year's. -
Everything Hurts going down WHY???
mp8btpc replied to fancy huh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was uncomfortable to drink or sip anything for me and the mushies stage at first also hurt. I think there is a lot of swelling the first couple of weeks plus being sore from the breathing tube during surgery and the removal of it causes some swelling and bruising I think. So as the swelling goes down it usually starts feeling less restrictive and painful. Of course bring it up to the doctor or if it gets worse and/or you get a fever call them and find out what they suggest. -
It could be bruising or possibly BM issues but as stated above just call the doc to see if he/she is concerned and let them decide what the situation is!

I agree that this is one of the most supportive and productive forums I have ever participated in. THere have been hiccups along the way but I think most of us try to be as positive and real as possible without being horses a*sses to eachother. There is occasional hot topics regarding doctors but all-in-all, I am very proud to be part of it. So welcome and enjoy! I think you needed ticker help. This was posted by Lila24 on another thread I don't know how to quote it here so I will paste it in italics. Hey Vicki, I just did it, so I'll try not to forget any steps :-) Hey Vicki, I just did it, so I'll try not to forget any steps :-) First you have to go a ticker site ( I just picked mine randomly). For example, I went to http://www.tickerfactory.com. Once you are there, you will create a profile for yourself where you will enter your current weight and your goal weight (some of them have different information you can add, like BMI). Once you have created your profile, you'll choose your ticker and the counter (for example, I chose a blue bar, and duck for my counter--I think you can change these up as you feel like it). Once you have done that, the site will provide you the code for your ticker. I think I chose the HTML code After you create your code, you'll need to add it to your profile. To do this: From the home page, click your profile name to open the drop-down list. Click "My Settings" In the settings options, Click Profile > Change my Signature In the signature area, paste the code that your ticker site provided you It should display as your current signature hope that helps! -
I was thinking sodium and carbs also. I know when I was doing atkins a while ago that I was going strong then I ate some tortilla chips and salsa at a get together and whamo the next couple of days the scale went up 2 pounds...I only ate a handful what the heck! The rest of that day (think it was 4th of July) I was a good girl, heck I only ate a hamburger patty with cheese on it! Dang scale. Dang sodium. Dang body!

Good luck to both of you on the journey. I am not sure how much a sleep study would cost and the insurance may cover a good portion of it as it is being ordered by the doctor. Keep us posted. I'm a Disney fan too! I LOVE DISNEY!! YAYAY

Someone posted this the other day - coolest site ever!
mp8btpc replied to PamelaAM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i love that! What is strange is that when I put in my 1st goal it is perfect for what I want to look like. If I was better at attaching photos I would put up the original and the goal one side-by-side. TWO THUMBS UP! -
Viv, I have been totally bummed for you but you know what? I can count several things that are pluses from having to wait, such as getting to enjoy the holidays not in recovery mode which can be stressful, giving you more time to do a pre-op and possibly getting into a good eating/exercise routine and losing a few more pounds pre-surgery, you also are lucky that you have the option for the sleeve when so many people don't have the same luxury and lastly all things happen for a reason or from a christian standpoint "All things work together for good to them that love him and are called according to His purpose". So though I can feel your pain on the mix up and postponement, your future looks bright doll! HUGS

I have to say you brought tears to my eyes! Your results are amazing and you have earned every bit of the success. You also scored big time for that amount of money. I bet it is indicative of how much cheaper it is to shop for small sizes then to find nice things in plus size stores. Not fair huh? Good for you and your hubby to experience that victory as a team. YAYAYAY.

Congrats Bob, you have done amazing and your continued success gives me hope that I can continue to lose even after a year if I use my sleeve correctly. Best wishes. Keep us posted it is inspiration for those who are in all stages pre and post op. -
Post-Op Vegas trip... HELP!!!!
mp8btpc replied to JennChap's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good good I am not the only one who wants to share! I just know how many people don't have the insurance or financial options to have surgery that would love to have it done. It would change their lives. I want it available to everyone who wants it and to get word out about the procedure. I think with the recent media coverage of known athletes having it done that it is going to be as common as knowledge of bypass and banding very soon. -
A successful journey so far!
mp8btpc replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow you look sooo much smaller! Especillay in the brown dress compared to the long sweater picture! Your face is so slim too, you have a very nice jawline with no wobbly neck. I just have great feelings about how your success is going to be. You are always so positive and upbeat I just know you will continue to be a huge inspiration and a shining light! Just look how much you have already accomplished. KUDOS -
August sleevers progress
mp8btpc replied to mp8btpc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats Christina and Sleeve4me! I am needing to jump back on the band wagon. I have been carbing it up lately and the more I eat of them the crazier I get to have them. It is NASTY INSANE! Going to grocery store tomorrow to get more lean Protein and veggies. Bread can kiss my butt for a while. hehe I hit 41-42 pounds lost as of last friday but I am too scared too weigh this week after my indulgences. I will wait until next Friday and if I am at least still at the 42 pound mark I will feel good. -
Does PPI help curb appetite? Anybody?
mp8btpc posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I stopped all PPI's a little over two weeks ago and I have been getting hungrier more often. I don't feel any burning unless I drink coffee in the morning but I honestly seem to have the acid under control, but if it will help my hunger at least until I lose the remainder I want to lose then I am more then willing to go back on it prophylactically. Anyone have any info or experience to prove or disprove this theory?
