At one time I weighed 325, that was about 12 years ago. I went on PhenPhen for the first 40 pound lost and continued on my own without the meds until I reached around 220. I have since then gained and lost many pounds over the years, trying lot of diets along the way. Fortunently, I never got back to the 325, but 289 was bad enough. In April of 2007, after nine months of fulfilling all of my Health insurances requirements, I had the Lap Band procedure done. I am down to 240 but pretty much stay there. I have never been able to get past the second fill because I reach a point where I can't even swallow liquid and they take the fluid out. I have not been back to the doctor in over a year because I get really frustrated. The surgeon trys to tell me that my problem is that I'm not measuring everything. His nurse practitioner disagrees and believes that I'm still tight. I had an EGD done and the doctor doing this procedure noted on the report he gave me that it appeared to him that the band was to close to the esophagus. My surgeon says there is nothing wrong the band. A year later I still can't eat the food that is good for me, like any type of meat, no bread or pasta, no vegatables or least no more than maybe a teaspoon of corn. so what do I do but migrate to the soft high carb food like ice cream, mash potatoes, soups (I'm also type II diabetic). I don't want to have the band removed because at least I don't gain any weight. According to the nurse practitioner I have almost no fluid in my band as of the last visit a year ago, when they removed more. This is not a healthy way for me to live!
