Hi Everyone, Thanks for your words....I just had a MRI today and will have a meeting with the surgeon on Tuesday. Can't eat anything without pain so I guess one benefit is the scale will really move ..hahah. I know I know not the best way to do it. The doctor said that 1 in 12 people have gallstones they might not even know it. Some of us that have WLS seem to activate the problems because of our rapid weight loss. I'm still not sure how you get them or how to prevent them or what you should do once you have them. Just keep aware of my symptons and get a sonagram (sp?) if you have them. I starting having these same symptons in January just 3 months after the band and I just assumed I was having issues with the band. I had no idea it could be anything else. I'll keep you updated after Tuesday...HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.

sorry I hit the wrong key... I was saying that I have quite a bit of hair so you can't tell yet. I guess once the have done the MRC?? they can determine what else besides removal of the gallbladder I might need. He mentioned an endoscope going through the mouth and upper digestive with some sort of ballon and removing stones from the duct...which could be very difficult because of my band. I have been having these symtoms since Feb. but always thought they were band related. Well wish me luck.

Hi Everyone, Well I finally have an answer to all my issues. On Thursday night I woke up @ 12 am with huge pain in my chest that I thought was heart burn. I toolk pepto which didn't seem to work. I starting throwing up (spaghetti yumm..) and couldn't stop for 3 hours. The pain was so bad I bundled up my seven year old and drove my self to the ER. After an ultrasound it seems that I have GALLSTONES. They released me in the morning and told me to schedule with a surgeon. I finally got in today and it seems it could be worse than just removing my gallbladder. It seems that some of the gallstones are in my "common bile duct" and I need an MRC?? Anyway waiting for call with appointment time. I have found out that this is very common with WLS or rapid weight loss in general. My symtoms are, cramping pain (mild to extreme) underneath my breatbone and all the way to the middle of my back, nausea, blotted feeling, and yellow skin (jaundice). I have also been loosing a huge amount of hair. Luckily I have quite

Hi Everyone, Just checking in. I still don't have a fill. I still have a bit of restriction and am just starting to feel like I can eat more bad things. My stomach cramps when I am hungry and I find myself snacking on crackers/chips in between meals. I have the opposite of many people and I am scared of eating at night. Most nights I make something for my daughter but eat cottage cheese or yogurt myself. Which isn't good for the kid because I don't end up making her a well balanced meal...(guilt). I don't PB...but I do have a huge reaction to any gaseous foods. I have been reduced to eating "Beeno" before any meal (even salad) that has any potential of causing bloating or worse. I can't seem to burp well after food has passed through the band and get horrible pain in the middle of my back that lasts for hours. Gas-x and beeno are my constant companions. My major goal needs to be exercising. Now that the weather is good and it's light at night I have no more excuses:rolleyes. So this weeks goal is to walk the dog at LEAST three days this week. I joined weight watchers just to have a group of people that I have to be accountable to. I'm not telling them I have the band...I just need the emotional support and like some else said help with the head demons. Well thats it for now. Happy aniversary to everyone. Wow doesn't time fly.

Ok good things.....well since my last episode I have been on liquids...eating very slowly trying to drink before I eat (my soup and I weighed my self yesterday morning and was 246!!! I made it under 250. I haven't been under 250 since I gave birth to my daughter 7 years ago. How's that for good

Hi Everyone, As you can see I am up again @ almost 4am because I am in pain again. This is what I am more afraid of for the fill not just the needle part...does anyone else go through what I am. It happens about an hour after I eat...the pain starts in the center of my back and in my stomach and lasts for hours.....I try throwing up, that doesn't help...I walk on my tread mill...sitting hurts...laying down hurts...I am very nervous about pain pills but I feel like I would take anything if it would stop the pain, but I don't because I worry they wouldn't go down and would erode my band. I have an e-mail into my Dr's but probably won't get a response because it's x-mas. UGHHH won't the pain stop. I feel like to only thing I can eat it soup and I'm sick of soup. Once again sorry for the rambling and the complaining. Just sick of hurting. Jess

Hi Everyone, Is anyone else scared to get a fill? I have had a few scary episodes when I ate the wrong thing and I am freaked out about having more restriction. I know restriction is the whole point of why we all did this, but I am scared. Part of it is the changing my whole lift style...I know I need therapy I was so gung-ho when I got banded and wanted a fill before I was totally healed and now I just keep procrastinating... I have great inspiration from a close friend that was banded in March or April who has already lost 53 lbs. I guess I just keep worrying that because I could never control what I ate before that after the fill I won't be able to either and I will keep getting stuck and the pain is AWFUL!!!!! Sorry for the rambling. :huggie:

prbrooksie, What makes you think that it slipped? What kind of symtoms are you having? I have had a couple of bad nights when I have eaten the wrong thing and it sure feels like something is wrong. Have you tried going to just liquids? Jess333

What's the best way to take meds!

My Mom always crushed the pill and mixed it with honey on the spoon. I tried it with advil and it worked. -
Hi Everyone, Today was the first of many challenges with the band. I am only 8 days after surgery and found myself out to dinner with a friend and her daughter that don't know about my band. We went to IKEA and the kids were so hungry we decided to eat there. I hadn't really had anthing all day and was feeling the nauseated hungry feeling. They didn't really have any soup or any other option for me but I was starving. So I ordered the swedish meatballs thinking that I could probably chew chew and maybe be ok. Now I don't know about everyone else but I'm not supposed to eat anything solid for 22 days or something. Well I ate about six meatballs and one small red potatoe with the gravy. I am relieved and scared because there were no ill effects from the meal. I was happy because there was pbng and therefore I didn't mess up what I just spent all my nest egg on, but very freaked out that it seems that I can eat all I want. I am worried that the 19lbs I have lost so far are going to be gained back. I don't want to push and get a fill to soon, but I am scared of my own inability to say no to food even though I know it could have damaged by band. What the hell is wrong with me?:angry I have read other posts re: the same thing but I was sure it wouldn't happen to me. Thanks for listening. Jess

Hello Everyone, Well it's official! I just got back from Mx and I am glad to be in my own bed The surgery was far easier than I ever expected. The only complaint thus far is the bloating and gas. The plan ride home was a little difficult....just what I needed more pressure. Bring Gas-x strips they seem to help a bit. The otterpops were the best...the coolness helps. Also remember your cell phone charger...... I haven't weighed myself yet...I will update in the morning. Don't know what else to write let me know if you guys have any questions. I will try to keep up. Thanks, Jessica

I should have stuck to getting the kind I hate instead I got butterfingers and reeses.ughhhhh. I have gained back 4 of the 14 I had lost! I will she you on the 3rd

Louis Lane, I think every doctor has a different protocal....I am doing the slimfast for breakfast and lunch and a lean cuisine for dinner (no more than 800 calories per day). I can't see how canned chicken would hurt, but then again I didn't pay for a medical degree either

Hello Everyone, I am scheduled for Nov. 3rd in Mexico with Dr. Oritiz. I started my pre-op diet last Friday and I am struggling through...it's amazing how many of us are out there and in the same situation. I just signed up today so please help me navigate....are there any long time bandsters out there that can over some helpful insights into how you manage on a daily basis? What are the most common problems people seem to have? What are the worst things to look out for? Maybe this is the wrong thread for all these questions since NOVEMBER hasn't happened yet...but I'm just getting nervous:phanvan Thanks, Jessica (Big Red....soon to be little red)
