  1. I'm in the same situation except that I haven't been banded yet. I broke my knee cap 11/8 so I won't even be out of my brace when I'm banded on Monday - in fact I have to wear it until the 21st. Then I assume there will be therapy so all my exercise plans are out the window and I've come up with a new plan. I am going to try to do Pilates - at least that'll get me toned.
  2. Hey what the heck? I don't have 4 days till banding - I have three!!!! LOL ok I am a terd! Seriously I love you all! I can't tell you how much it means to me to have such a great group of supporters! We definitely have the best month. :kiss Kari - I am so happy to hear you had good news and the surgery is back on! Did you know you only have 4 (four) days left!!! NGAdams - so good to hear from you again - sounds like you are doing great! Linda Blair or Carrie Fisher - both are beautiful ladies so you must also be beautiful. How but those jerks at work! Don't let him bother you. You're doing great with the pre-op I'm so proud of you - all of you! It definitely is hard and if we can just stick to it we will all be the happier for it. I did ok last night - I ate a bowl of soup - again not on the list but within the calories. Do you really think it should matter? Oh I bought the Centrum chewables - OMGOODNESS! gag me! I guess I'm going to have to try the gummy chewables - I know I'm stupid about this vitamin thing but I was actually sick to my stomach for half an hour after I ate one and had to keep washing it down with water - Thininde - how ya feeling hon? You sound good! Do you have a support person with you or winging it solo? I will have someone home with me the first day but then school and work will take them during the day - but thats ok by me. Kay - 20 pounds! you rock! I haven't exercised at all - you all know I have this stupid broken kneecap - it really ticks me off because even after I have the banding I will be in therapy for a while before I can get very active again. Carol - where are you? My doc says its clear liquids day one and I think he said by the time I leave the hospital the next day I should be on regular liquids - he said anything I can suck through a straw - thats for 2 weeks - then weeks 3-4 I am on mushies. So thats not so bad - at least I'll have the band to help me then. Brandy - how's things at home? Everyone ok?

    December Bandsters

Its so exciting to hear our December bandster getting done and home mending! I hope you are all doing well. I don't know whats going on in my head but I tend to do this when I get real nervous - I hibernate. Seriously, I am so excited and I only have the weekend left - 3 days! - but I just can't seem to get out and get things done! I had planned to go finish my Christmas shopping today and I am just DREADING it. I feel like nesting, just cleaning house, making Soup, washing clothes... that kind of stuff. Did any of you feel like this? Do you think I'll feel up to shopping a few days after the surgery, having it Monday - shopping Friday? I'd love to get your opinion.

did anyone come up with a time?
  5. Hey I'm getting banded in four days. thanks kay! Did you know I'm getting banded in 4 days? Dee it is so cool that you and DH are doing it together - I kinda have a feeling my whole family will lose weight after I'm banded (in four days). I'm the cook and I definitely cook what I like to eat so without me to enable them I kinda think they may lose a few pounds too. Not that any of the rest need to lose weight but maybe they'll start eating healthier. My daughters and I always go out to eat when we go to town (yeah I'm 20 minutes any direction from the nearest Walmart) whether it be breakfast lunch or dinner. So I'm thinking if I can't eat it will we still go? Maybe we will just share... I can't wait to see whats in store for me when I'm banded - btw did I mention I'm getting banded in 4 (FOUR) days - yepper thats right four (4) days!!!!

Offerrocker - did I tell you we have the same band date? Maybe the other site? Anyway - how's it going? I cheated on my pre-op pretty bad last night and now today I'm struggling to eat right. But it was a party at my house so I felt I should eat too - right. I saw my anethesistist (LOL - you all get that right?) anyway he didnt' really have anything to say - I was there about 2 minutes - he just asked if I had any questions and if I'd had surgery before, told me I may have a sore throat and that was about it. I kinda felt it was a waste of gas, couldn't he have just called me?

    Want to Vent/Questions

I agree - can you find another doctor?
  11. WTG Nathalie! I wish I hadn't cheated but I have lost at least 6lbs. Your pre-op sounds better then mine - all I get is 2 protein shakes and 1 frozen dinner *300 cals.* - I'm determined to do better tomorrow - I can't believe I've only got 4 more days to deal with this and then its BAND TIME!!!
  12. hey Offerrocker - we have the same band date. There are a couple of us. One of these evenings we will all have to try to get on at the same time and chat. Are you doing the pre-op diet? I totally cheated tonight - it was the Bunco girls night - at my house and I had to put on the spread - I didn't OVER eat but it sure wasn't a frozen dinner!
  13. I have an adversion to vitamins - I know its childish and imature but they gag me - has anyone tried the centrum chewables? Or tell me what you think is the best.
  14. I don't think the 18 y/o girl I was then is much different then the 44 y/o woman I am today. That is besides the weight gain. But even that may not be such a suprise to her. I remember one summer at camp the preacher was doing a teaching on marriage. He said guys look at your girls mom - thats what your wife will look like when she is her age. Bingo! I've become my mother! Seriously tho - at 18 I weighed 103 today I weigh 220 - at 22 when I was pg with my first child I remember be SO embarrassed because I weighed 160! I don't think that 18 y/o girl would ever believe she would gain over 100 lbs. I remember after my 2nd child weighing 125 and talking to my doctor about it - my goal is 150 - yeah she'd be a bit suprised by the weight gain. As far as all the other stuff - life has gone as planned. I married my love at the ripe young age of 17, we've been married 27 years - have 3 beautiful healthy happy drugfree children - and a job I love. I gave my life to the Lord at 22 and I believe He has kept me and I have no regrets - I was married 5 years before the first baby - stay at home mom for 12 years - worked part-time until just 5 years ago and love my job. I am happy & content.

    Which vitamins taste the best?

WOW - thank you so much! I looked at the flintstone chewables but they didn't have as much as an adult vitamin so I didn't think they would be enough. And I'm a tightwad - I think ok so if I have to take 2 to equal 1 of these then I'm paying more for the same - lol - I think I'll try the centrum chewables - thanks friends.

Have any of you bought your liquid or chewable vitamins yet? I stood for 15 minutes in the vitamin aisle the other day and left without buying any. There were alot of childrens chewable and only centrum adult chewables and I didn't want to put $8 out there if they taste horrible. I've always had an adversion to vitamins, just the smell nauseates me. YUK! But I will do what I have to do and vitamins are on the list of to dos.

I know the liquid thing is hard but just do the best that you can. Its your husbands shift that has you feeling like that. Its hard to live in different schedules. I've been there more then once - and then there are times when he works out of town - those weeks I don't cook, I don't clean and I only do what has to be done. LOL Ok so I take advantage of not having to be responsible. But maybe you need to do a craft or something - I don't know what you like to do but if you start something and tell yourself I want to get this done before I go in for my surgery it'll push you to do it. My goal for today is to clean my bathroom and mudroom - really clean them good. And then next week when I'm home from the hospital and not feeling like doing anything then I won't have to worry about them getting cleaned. Set little goals for yourself each day. I like to do crafts and to read but I just can't get my mind to focus on anything but being banded. So the house cleaning will have to do. Since you've been in Germany have you been to any of the castles? Or gone site seeing? I would love to visit Europe - maybe that will be my long term goal. LOL

Sweethot - hey girl! I was searching to see if you had gotten a new date - WTG!! I'm so excited for you! I can't believe my date is less then a week now! And this week is going to fly for me. I'm busy every day. But listen to this - Wed. I'm hosting the bunco girls (bunco is a dice game and we have 8 girls who get together once a month, taking turns at each others house) well I'm host and I have to put on a decent meal - we eat dinner at 6:30, play bunco from 7 to 7:30 eat dessert and then play for another 1/2 hour. I tried to pick a dinner that I can make "light" and a salad, but I've only told 1 of them I'm having the band and she doesn't know when - so I am planning on eating that night with them. I figure if I do my shake in the afternoon and then try to fill up on salad the rest won't be horrible. Ok so thats Wed. then on Saturday a dear older lady has invited me to lunch, its the members of the club I work at so I feel compelled to go - I will order a salad and hope I don't over eat - but DANG this pre-op diet stinks! Since I am "cheating" those 2 days I thought that I will do just liquid on Sunday - (as if thats going to make a difference at this point) I go in on Monday at 10:30 and have my surgery at 12:30. I will be spending one night in the hospital. I'm going to make another ticker because even tho I haven't been the best pre-op diet person I have lost 6 pounds.

itsuptome - I had to laugh because your post sounds almost identical to mine yesterday! I just wanted to EAT - so today I at a grilled chicken salad for lunch - I don't think that is so bad - ff dressing - and I am going to eat the frozen dinner for supper and my protein shake for snack. Its just the liquid thing that is so hard for me - but I keep trying and I keep my calories below 900  that alone has got to be shrinking my fatty liver! :Banane19:

    band sizes

I've heard there are 3 band sizes and I know the one I'm getting holds 10cc - I'm not sure of what difference this makes in the long run, just what the surgeon chooses. Now after reading about port sizes I asked him about that and he said he puts a standard size port in - while we are heavy the larger one is easier to find and fill - after we lose weight if it becomes noticable then he will put a smaller, flatter one in. He said that is done in the office under local anthestic, and not a big deal. She showed them both to me.

DH and I disagree on weight

Ok so maybe I'm going to get off the subject a little but I HATE when an obese person loses weight and then everyone around starts whispering I think she's too thin, she doesn't look healthy too me, oh she looks awful! It drives me insane!!!! My very good friend had gastric bypass and went from 278 to 145-150 (she weighs herself everyday and keeps herself in that 5lbs range) - Other "friends" are all saying things about her losing too much weight. I tell her everytime I see her she looks beautiful! And when someone tells me they think she's lost too much and doesn't look healthy I say ask her to show you her before picture - she looks alot healthier now then she did then. She is one who has a long thin face and with the fat she still had a pretty face. Now without the fat you can see her cheekbones and jawline - I don't think she looks unhealthy I think she looks beautiful. Ok so that was just a rant - sorry. As for hubby - well I have to tell you my DH will be saying the same thing. About 5 years ago I lost weight and got down to 180 (I'm 5'2" and weighed 103 on our wedding day 27 years ago) and he told me he liked me losing but don't lose too much (while he's holding the cheeks of my butt in his hands) Contrary to belief, not all men go for the slender look, some enjoy the cush and curves -
