  1. Hi. I just saw your post and I want to mention my doc. Dr. De la Garza in Monterrey. He is wonderful and speaks perfect English as did the Anesthesiologist. The OCA Hospital is beautiful and spotless. There is a hotel on the 4th floor of the hospital and your stay there is included in the price. I received the very best of care and my surgery was rather compicated because I had lots of adhesions and scar tissue from two previous surgeries, one abdominal and Vertical Banded Gastroplasty. He removed my gall bladder at the same time. All that and I did beautifully. Surgery on Monday and I came home Wednesday and that Friday I felt well enough to spend the day at the Casino. I have gone back to him for all my fills (they are free for life but I do pay a nominal fee to the hospital for the fluoro). His assistant is always available by email and phone and a couple times when I called to ask a question he picked up the phone and spoke with me. I have his cell number and I honestly think he is a doctor that cares about his patients and how we progress. I am down 81 lbs and have had 0 problems. I believe the price for lapband is about $8000 which includes car service to and from the airport. :: Obesity Surgery :: Wishing you the best. Ana

Dr. De La Gaza placed my band and I went directly through his office rather than using the hospital's program (LitenFree. I know Veronica very well and I can assure you she was simply trying to help. Since my surgery I have complete email and phone contact with her. I had my surgery 7/17/07 and am down 56 lbs today. I also had my gall bladder removed at the same time and have had 0 complications. I like Dr. De La Garza so well that I fly back to him for my fills. Sandra Ice
  3. No I have not been charged for 2 seats. I think Southwest is the only one who does that and they don't fly to Mexico. I usually do fly Southwest though if they have a flight where I want to go and have never had anything about weight mentioned to me. I have heard of it happening though. I fly Continental and the round trip fare from Odessa to Monterrey with all the taxes etc is about $475. I hope this helps.
  4. I wonder if you ever found the bad feedback you reported about Dr. De La Garza. I reseached him in every way possible and found nothing except glowing reports. I used him for my surgery and he is an excellent surgeon. I think it is a little irresponsible of you to say something like that just as an off comment when it has the potential to cause someone not to choose him. Respectfully, Anadora
  5. Hi, I live in Odessa and was banded in Monterrey July 17. Not by Dr Rumbaut but by Dr. De la Garza who is also very experienced and an expert surgeon. I flew down on Sunday, had surgery Monday and flew home on Wednesday. I also had my gall bladder removed during the surgery so if anyone was going to have trouble it would have been me plus I am 58. The return trip was not bad at all. It is a little over an hour from Monterrey to Houston then another hour and half home. Luckily for me a Continental gate person arranged a wheelchair for me which was nice for navigating HIA and security and customs. The flight does not affect the band at all and does not affect the amount of gas a person has. I have gone back to Dr De la Garza twice for fills simply because he knows what he is doing and I enjoy seeing him. If the trip is the only thing keeping you from going to Monterrey I would not let that stop me. Wishing you the best, Anadora
