Hello, I was banded March 2010 by Dr. Enochs. I just love him and his NP Lisa Jones. I want to attend the support group meetings at REX and looking for others that attend this support group and the one in Cary. I also enjoy making friends with other bandsters.

You are only supposed to lose 1-3lbs a week. Lap band is slower more gradual weight loss. Don't weigh yourself every week it just makes you more stressed. I was like that at first and then I became obsessed and crazy with it. That was no way to live. You can tell by your clothes if you are losing. Just weigh once every 2 or three weeks. That is actually what my support group suggests.

@OP What are you eating? Keep a food diary. Eating the foods to avoid will cause you to get stuck. The band does not lose the weight for us. It is a tool to help YOU lose the weight. It is not going to do it for you. YOU have to make healthier food choices and exercise. Maybe you should attend some group support meetings, they have nutritionists there and bariatric docs. These meeting are free so check them out. Losing weight is not an easy thing, it is full of stress, frustration and hard work. Good luck to you. -
I had my second fill 1 week ago. I have been tolerating food except at the beginning. When I start to eat I get that stuck feeling. After I eat for a bit it goes away and I am able to eat normally. I take small bites and chew thouroughly. What can I do to make when I start eating smoother?:Dancing_biggrin:

Trouble when I initally start eating
ICUnurserachel replied to ICUnurserachel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
@karkeeline umm Did you even read the question? Seems you made a generalized assumption based on judgment and not fact. I do not need to justify myself to you. For your information I have been eating properly before I got the band, so thanks for the judgmental, offensive, non contributory advice.:Dancing_biggrin: -
Upset about Friend getting banded who hasnt even tried to lose weight
ICUnurserachel replied to Liftingchic's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Has she been though the evaluation process yet? I know my insurance wouldn't pay for the band unless I had a 5 year documented weight history and documentation that I had tried other things. Allot of people think this is an easy way out and when they get banded realize they have to do the work. They are usually the ones that are non compliant and end up blaming the bad for their not losing weight or being successful at it. Hopefully as she goes through the evals she will realize that he has to change everything about the way she eats and sees food. -
I had my surgery on March 10, 2010 and it has been quite the experience. I have had ups and downs and learning things as I go. I had my second fill last Friday and I feel like I am doing better with this one. I feel full and not hungry between meal. I am learning to seperate emotional hunger from real physical hunger. This has been a life long battle for me and it won't be overcome quickly.

Seems I have the same virus. Weird how the first thing I thought of was "Did I eat something weird" and not that I was actually sick.

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Banded March 2010
ICUnurserachel posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, I was banded March 10, 2010. I have had good results but have learned some things the hard way. I sometimes need an ear of someone that has been through this. My main issues now are body image, learning what I can tolerate now and dealing with the ups and downs. -
Hello I am Rachel from NC. I had my surgery Mrch 10th, 2010. I have lost 20lbs so far and had my first fill. Dr. Enochs in Cary did my surgery and I was so impressed with him. It has definitely been a learning process but I am so happy I did it.

I have lost 22lbs so far and have hit my first plateau. I have had an adjustment recently and am still eating what I am supposed and exercising. Plateau's are so depressing. I know it will pass and am having another adjustment in a few weeks. What else can I do?

I wasn't scared of the actual surgery I was apprehensive of the unknown afterwards. The surgery is nothing, the post op is the actual work.

Stuck Episode..OMG!!
ICUnurserachel replied to mindiv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my first fill last week and boy has it been a process. I can tell a dramatic difference. It is definitely a learning process. My doc said if I have that "stuck" feeling for 4 or more hours to call. It usually doesn't last more than 15-20 minutes but boy are those miserable minutes. A friend of mine told me to get baby spoons and forks. I thought that was silly but it has really helped.
