I am a dental hygienist up in New Hampshire..Shire folk as we are apparently called.

I just got banded 8/26! I also go back to work on Tues. Everyone I work with knows I had it done so no need to hide anything. Good luck with your first day back. I am starting to get really hungry. Haven't lost much since surgery. About 5 pounds. My Dr. said I may gain some now that I am introducing smooshies. I hope not! Congrats on being banded!

Holy god do I miss my beer. I am a huge microbrew and Guinness fan. Haven't had any since Aug. 7. I was banded Aug 26th and the next day the damn Octoberfests beers started coming out! Bah! I want one so bad.....

I was banded on the 26th also! i am in the same boat as you. Been hard to get things down. I only have 2 and 1/2 of the 5 protein drinks I am suppose to have. I did cheat and have mashed potatoes yesterday..oops! Tasted so good but I will behave myself today. The first few days every time I drank something I would get discomfort and have to burp alot but its getting better. Congrats on your band and I hope today is better for ya!

A hiatal hernia is when the hole in the diaphram where the esophagus goes through is too wide and part of the stomach has come up through it. To fix it they need to bring the stomach back down into the abdominal cavity (plus they can't put the band on if they don't) and stitch up the hole in diaphram to shrink the opening. Due to working on the diaphram, you have those symptoms. Plus it can have referred pain to the back and shoulder. Hope that helps.

I have told all the people close to me. Friends, family, my boyfriends family. Heck I have even told my fav patients. Im just so excited to get it done. I don't care what their response is but so far not one negative remark. In fact, if they don't agree with it then they can suck it. I wouldn't care if someone talked negatively about it. I am awesome and having the lap-band is going to make me more awesome. We all rock! Screw everyone else against it. Woo!

My date is Aug. 26 and I start my pre-op diet the 11th too! I have been eating the most unhealthy meals. I just finished the last of my grams heart attack mac n' cheese. My mom is making me my last supper on Sunday night. I feel like my fav foods and I are breaking up after a long relationship. Moving on to better things! Good luck with the pre-op diet! I have 2 weeks of Opti-fast...oooh boy.

My date is Aug 26! Can't wait. I start my 2 week Opti-fast diet on the 11th. Which is to help shrink the liver so it isnt so fatty during surgery. Its the only organ they have to move a little and if its too fatty it can break or crumble. Goo! Good luck to all having their surgeries this week!

Hey! I'm currently pre-op in the live free or die state too. Meeting my surgeon on July 21st. Maybe after this I can go through the Polar Caves and not worry about getting wedged in. I'm at 292 last time they weighed me and can't wait to say goodbye to that number. Hope to chat with ya some more!
