  1. I hear those comments all the time mostly from relatives."Eat" is what comes in their mouth the moment they see me.It is a habit. But the most weird comment was the one i heard last week from a new collegue. She was saying how desperately she needs to lose 10 pounds. Then she looks at me and she says.."well you obviously know nothing about diets, but i really need to lose weight".It was a shock for me and to tell you the truth subconsciously i thought she was mocking me.Killing the fat kid inside you is not so easy..

  2. Travelling upset my stomach too. Cold weather really upset my stomach also.PMS,getting the flu, stress, hormones, etc etc etc..There are a lot of things that influence my stomach's "mood".When this happens i just lay back for some days and go with the flow. But i also try to eat,and the more i eat the easier it gets, although i dont push it a lot.Having a lapband is not easy..even now..16 months post surgery.

So i dont really know what happens.Doc said that losing weight makes you feel less restriction but it was never true in my case.Stuck episodes are definitely different now,coz i know when to stop and i dont vomit anymore. But i can tell you for sure that eating more that 2 bites of Pasta of bread, was never easy for me.Still isn't.

  3. You are definitely overfilled. Your doctor knows about your discomfort? If it has been over a month since your last adjustment i would recommend another visit to your doctor's office for a small unfill. The fact that you are not losing any weight is totally normal. If you cannot eat a small amount of chicken breast and you can eat half a kilo of icecream, then you will not lose.period.

P.S. For me green zone does not adjust your appetite. Even now i want to eat more than i can bare. Green zone is knowing that if you continue eating your stomach will hurt. And after a while, you are sick and tired of trying to eat Pasta and having a discomfort for 2 hours.So..you stop trying. And that's it.Meanwhile you are enjoying your new body. And Pasta becomes boring and unworthy.

Anyone want to help me what Zone I might be in? I'm confused.

1-discomfort when eating 75% of the time.

2-still hungry so choose wrong foods to eat to fill me up, ice cream, Snacks, etc.

this is where I get confused

3-only have spit up (sorry, gross) Water mucousy stuff once since banded in June AND

4-have only loss 28 lbs total since banded in June (start was 243 and now 215).

Seem to be stuck and not loosing any more weight!

I can eat but it takes me about 45 minutes to eat a meal. I feel hungry and I can eat but it takes me a long time and I think sometimes I might not be banded enough b/c of not loosing any more weight but it usually hurts to eat. So where am I???? I am still hungry after some meals so I will eat bad foods for me, ice cream or milk and Cookies. Being honest here. lol I definately couldn't imagine getting a fill since it hurts so much to eat now but I'm not loosing weight either.

Thanks and thanks for posting the chart Alex!

  4. Oh well.. separating "food" from "fun" is something pretty difficult.Even if you have your band for over 10 months now.Fortunately (in the long run) food is not my main pleasure anymore and sometimes it is hard to accept and deal with it.But i must confess that having people to say to you that you don't need to lose anymore weight..that is a pleasure i'll take every single day!

  5. Down 5lbs in 4 days.Unfortunately i did not try hard to lose this weight but i had a gallstones attack 3 days ago and i spent the night in the ER.Not to mention that a doctor (my doc is out of town..) used a needle in my belly for more than 20 times cause he could not find my port..then they decided that i did not need an unfill and that i had a problem with my gallstones.. 6 hours after constant pain and vomiting it was finally over.

Oh well.. at least i lost 5lbs

  6. Margarine is NOT made out of chemicals.Butter is full of saturated fat on one hand and full of Vitamins A,B,K on the other.Margarine is made from seeds oils so it is full of polyunsaturated fats and Omega3 and 6 but on the other hand it is full of trans fats.American Heart Association (AHA), National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NJLBI) and National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) prefer " trans free" margarine.

But imho .. fat is fat.Period.When consumed in excess amount fats contribute to weight gain and heart disease. You should eat it but you have to wisely choose your fat (from fish, nuts, olive oil,etc etc) and not to overdo it.Everything in moderation (something i never did as a fat person :P)

  7. I'm going MOnday and getting a little taken out. I can drink liquids fine, but this morning I had to stop eating after 1/2 of my greek yogurt cause I felt like another bite would pile back up into my esophogus! I was able to eat a nice portion size of chili for lunch and stayed full for a VERY long time. However, if I would have eaten something else that would not have been so soft, I'm sure I would have not been able to eat that much. Last night for dinner I had a very small turkey burger..no bun of course... (homemade recipe...delicious!) and it took me FOREVER to eat it b/c I had to be so careful. I really wouldn't mind eating that way to lose weight faster, but I can't help but draw unwanted attention to myself. I have already stopped eating in the lunchroom at work so much because of all the damn noises I make when I eat!!! I'm goint to ask the doc to pull all the Fluid out so I can know exactly how much is in there and remember how I felt at that level...Like I said, I may end up going back to this level, but feel I will be better maybe .1 or so down from where I am.

OMG.. those noises! I had a fill last week ( i am pretty tight) and every morning at the office ,when i drink my Protein shake everyone stares at me cause they think i burp! I can t stop gurgling..

Btw , after the doc has taken out all the liquid, you feel a little weird.I felt the band much different than before.

  8. According to fitday :

    Start weight 07/05/2010 253lb

    End weight 02/11/2011 197lb

Average weekly change 1.78lb lost per week

If i consider that i do not exercise, i am very pleased with my weight loss.My doc says i am moving pretty fast for a lapbander.IMO a loss is a loss, and being overweight oblige me to be patient. We did not gain so much weight over 7 months. It is not a race ,it is a change of life.

  9. I have had a 14 cc Allergan lap band since 4/15/10. There was no Fluid added at the time of surgery. I received my first fill on 5/26/10 and it was 6.5 cc. I am now at 10.8 cc and do have restriction.

We are almost at the same boat.My band is also 14cc and i had no Fluid added at the time of surgery. My first fill was much later because i was away for holidays.2 months after surgery doctor gave me 5 cc and 4 days later he gave me also another 2cc.I had really good restriction for a month. Now with my 3d fill (8.cc total) i think i will be in my sweet spot (or whatever that is..) for a long time.As long as i lose almost 2 pounds per week, i will stick to that gladly!

  10. Ι cant really say that the band vanished my appetite coz before being banded i never felt really hungry.I had some cravings from time to time -which is different from hunger- and i was spending the whole day eating a huge nothing because i was not hungry at all.At dinner time i was eating a LOT coz my body was trying to compensate. My metabolism was nearly dead and each time i try to follow the "5 meals" rule i was easily losing weight.

But hunger?that's another story..hunger was never my best friend BB(before band) or AB (after band).I was eating out of boredom.I still struggle to stick to 5 small meals but i stop worrying about calories.I dont care anymore if i get 700cal per day as long as i keep fuel my body with food rich in Proteins and vitamins. It is strange to hear someone with 252lbs saying that she was not hungry but .. it is true and very common to overweight people.

  11. Today was a good day, considering i am really tight..i managed to eat lunch and dinner.Yay!

Breakfast Protein shake with skim milk

    snack 1/2 banana

lunch 2oz cottage cheese with 1 slice of turkey ham

    snack 1/2 pear

dinner 2 oz baked turkey with mustard and orange juice -boneless/skinless - , 5,6 brussels sprouts with 1 tsp olive oil

Yesterday i had for dinner tuna casserole with green peas, zucchini, onions and fresh tomatoes with basil.I adore this food!

  12. First of all, Denise thanks cause i thought i was the only one with a stuck episode for 5 hours!Worst lapbandday ever..Pbs are way better than stuck episodes!

For me the only thing that works is to try to avoid it.Once i get stuck then there is nothing that really helps me.I try to understand and listen to my body. Some days i know that if i push it i will get stuck. Those days i take really small bites and usually i have little burps indicating that something is in my pouch struggling to go down.If i feel well after a burp that means that it went down and i can continue with my food.If i feel a little uncomfortable i stop eating and i eat only mushies for the rest of the day (like cottage, mushed veggies with olive oil etc etc).I try to learn how to prevent it and i think that now (after a lot of hit and miss..) i can manage it.If i don't, then i know that i have to wait for my stomach to decide to get rid of it.

  13. I am on the same boat

Down 38 pounds and with a pretty good restriction.I dont work out (yet),so 38 pounds only by food limitations is a good result. My doc said that i go really quick for a lapbander.Usually lapbanders lose more slowly.I have changed my diet so my weight lose seems reasonable to me.Best part ever is that food doesn't play a big part anymore.I am hardly hungry.I stick to the basics (4-5 small meals,no pasta/rice/bread/sugar) and i am happy with that.:smile2:

  14. It's a sign of restriction. My doctor didn't liked it a lot but as long i am careful with my band he thinks it is ok.I dont have it everyday, but experience has showed me that the days i can hear it are the days i must be extra careful.I chew a lot and i never never drink 30 minutes before and after.I have to admit it's kind of fun to feel it though

  15. Thank you!

I thought i was the weird one, cause 10 days after my fill my band is tighter than the day of the fill.It sounds strange but that's how my band wants it to be.My surgeon said that it is very normal to have much more restriction in the morning.Stomach is a muscle, so if you are going 6-8 hours without eating i guess it is normal for the pouch to be "smaller" and less flexible and elastic (if that makes sense at all..)

After my last fill i am tight during the day, afternoon, evening, night and so on..For some days only,i can eat juuuust a little more easier after 5,6 o clock

    Human body..go figure
