    Halloween Challenge

I hit my goal too (after 2 weeks of plateau..) 33lbs down..66 to go! Next stop, New Year's Day! Good job everyone:thumbup:
  2. DiValencia you are not abnormal, you are just different! Everyone has a different body and band adjustment. Keep going
  3. I have Realize band 14cc and at 8.5 you really have to pay attention of what and how you are eating. At 7 cc i was quickly full for at least 3 weeks. Now i eat really small portions of food 3 or 4 or maybe 5 times a day.I can eat but i have to think before i do and be concentrated while eating and i dont pick up whatever i find in front of me.The most important thing is that i cant eat out of boredom.
  4. I don't get why some doctors go with 1cc or even .5 cc for the first fills. It is so strange and actually it doesn't serve any purpose (maybe the doctor's pocket?dunno..) What the doctors answer to you when you ask them why they have to wait 6 months to give a 5 cc fill? :wink2:
  5. Bariatric center here in Greece said that you should eat as much as you feel without of course overdoing it.They suggest 8 to 12 tablespoons per meal preferably 3 times a day.Half a cup seems so little to me..at least when i see the cup i bought from US.And also there is a difference in liquid cup and the non liquid ones. 1/2 cup = 4 Fluid ounces = 8 tablespoons = 118 ml (from ://curezone.com/conversions.asp)
  6. I am a little confused.. The band makes you eat less (i am not hungry at all,i force myself to eat) but you need more calories so you can be able to lose. I stay in 800-1000 calories ,70-100 gram proteins, 30-50 grams carbs and 20-30 fat, eating at least 4 times a day to keep my metabolism high.I lose weight right after a fill (when i dont eat and i am on liquids and mushies for 3-4 days) and when i get to 800-1000 cals i dont lose.I lost almost 30 pounds in 3 months so maybe my body needs a rest for the last 15 days.I increased my carbs,nothing..I increased fat, nothing again.. But it makes me wonder..how do you balance the band's restriction with the need to eat at least 1000 calories?:smile2:
  7. Hmm healthy sliders, like shakes seems a very good idea - although it doesn't sound like something healthy to do for a long period of time. I will try to add a second protein shake, probably before bed time.I'll see how it goes coz it's difficult to know when you eat "enough" I am glad you two posted, i follow you and i know you have band experience
  8. Μy first episode was 2 hours after dinner.2nd episode was half an hour later,3d episode was 2 minutes after a bite.I dont want to know when my 4th episode will occur
  9. If i understood correctly you have a small hernia? Hernia and band equals no restriction. You shoulddefinitely speak with another doctor.
  10. It sounds weird that you started soft meats 8 days after surgery. But then again, you follow doctor's rules. IMHO you should take it easy and slow. You really need to give time to your body to heal.Dont overstress your mind and your body.Ask your doctor or a nutricionist for food guidlines. You should be careful of your diet before fills.Be patient,it gets easier with restriction :smile2:
  11. JudyDF i dont enjoy food as i used to (like pigs enjoy mud) but i enjoy it in a more "normal" way.I eat so i can nourish my shelf and pumper it with vitamins, minerals, protein, healthy(low) carbs. It is a totally new way of approach to food and although at first it didnt feel good,i felt deprived, now i really start to enjoying it even if i am bored chewing and chewing and chewing and chewing ..
  12. I really dont get it.. I lost 6 pounds right after my fill and then for 15 days nothing.I stayed in 800 calories , 90 gram proteins, 30-50 grams carbs and 30 fat, eating at least 4 times a day and i dont lose. When i dont eat i lose, when i get 800 i dont.On other threads i read that you should eat at least 800-1200 calories so you can lose more. So.. sweet spot makes you eat less (i am not hungry at all) but you need more calories so you can be able to lose. Am i the only one not getting this? Sliders and liquids seems the only (unhealthy) option to me.That..or chew to death all of my food 24/7 so i can get some protein in.
  13. One tiny piece of sesame seed bagel! That was my 2nd (yesterday) episode of pb (1st one was 3 weeks ago with raw carrots) 1st one was caused by ignorance. Now i know i cant eat solid food before 2,3 am 2nd one was caused by stupidity.I dont even eat bread, but my bf bought it and i tasted it without remembering that it was 10 pm. Both times i suffered in the bathroom's floor for half an hour. Oh well.. still learning

    My Doctor Won't Tell Me

Me either. I would not try chicken yet, especially for lunch.Somehow i cant eat things like chicken or meat before 5,6 am.Usually i save it for dinner and it works better with my stomach.Take it easy and really really slow. You will figure out on your own what works for you best.
  15. Just because we know how it is and how it feels to carry more weight (of fat and emotions), that doesn't mean that everyone can relate. It is not the easy way out. There is nothing easy in depriving, afraid to eat,pb, emotional roller coasters, surgery, healing, relearning to eat and to live all over again, seeing your body and your mind changing etc etc.. Hell no, i did not take the easy way out!
  16. same here.. No way i can eat something before noon and even then if i make the mistake and eat something solid i will not tolerate it and be in pain. I found out that if i eat a small cup of yogurt or half a banana around noon then i can eat easier lunch and without the fear of being stuck. After 7 or 8 a.m. ... that's another story and definitely another person's stomach. *coffee btw makes you much much much more tight, with or without the band
  17. @ElfiePoo i see you question your band lately.Of course it is your job to make your self stop eating high calories but the band works for you and you work for your self as well.I guess your doctor doesnt help you enough with your frustration and in your shoes i would question my doctor and not my band  @gloglo high glycemic vegies ? exemples ?
  18. It's is not a diet it's a change of life style from day 1. It gets easier with restriction but you can't eat sugar and pasta and carbs all the time.At the end,you want to lose weight and until you do that it is only natural you deprive your self from fatty foods. In my mind it is not a diet although i dont eat sugar and pasta/rice at all.It was a diet until my first fill. Then it became easy and i bet it will get easier and easier. Now is a mental thing, every time i crave for something i remember my surgery day and what i put my shelf in to in order to have a healthier life. It is too soon for you to be anxious about it.Make smart food choises and the band will work for/whith you.Be patient

    Getting stuck hurts!!!

My only (and last?) episode was with carrots I was in the lady's room for 40 minutes in horrible pain, spitting saliva like crazy.I never thought human body can produce so much saliva (eew..)
  20. Dont try raw carrots even if you chew them to death.I had my first pb episode with them today.Bad and stupid idea. Try boiled zucchini squashed with lemon and lime and cottage cheese.Or my favorite scrabled eggs with squashed tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. And stay away from carrots

    COMPULSION to eat?

That is hard.. It takes me half an hour to drink some water i am in the green zone and yet,at the same time i want to eat like crazy pasta or bagels or ham or whatever... It's crazy,i cant even eat mushies and i WANT to eat everything i see.I am not hungry at all.But i miss my "friends".Food was a companion and as someone else here said, it s a period of mourning coz you lost them and it is not always easy. When i crave food i stop and i ask my self. "are you hungry? No you are not. Then shut up and move on".If i dont stop and i snack then i will be in pain and you dont want that.Separate the brain from your body.We have to learn this the hard way.The easy way obviously didnt work out, otherwise i wouldn't carry 240 pounds Be patient, there is nothing in the world we cannot conquer

    Halloween Challenge

Ι am in! Bandster hell is over. Me and my 7cc band want to lose 10 pounds
  25. I have a 14cc band My first fill -5cc- was not really enough.I felt restriction but could eat very easily. Now i am at 7 cc (it's the 4th day now) and i can do only mushies. Even water is a bit tricky.Doc said that 7-8 cc in a 14cc band is working best for lapbanders.I thought restriction was what i felt the first day of my surgery.Boy i was wrong ...
