    Labor Day Challenge

I want to set goals for myself and would like to a Ticker to track those goals like I see on other post but cant figure out how to do it with the Heading. Or post the other info that I see. Thanks.
  3. I'm 2 months out and have noticed my hair feels thinner. I can't really afford this since my hair isn't very thick to start with. What could be causing this and what can I do to stop it? Also, can it be reversed?:scared2:
  4. Has this helped your hair loss? Where can I get that stuff?
  5. I had surgery May 13, my first fill June 17, second fill July 6 and thought things were going well. I've lost 29 pounds and I am very happy for this. My question is how often should I be needing my next fill. Sometimes when I eat it takes bites and other times bunches. I don't always make the best choices but try to keep my portions in control. I do okay for breakfast and lunch but dinner I am able to consume a cup or more before feeling full. I still struggle with small bites and chewing, resulting in small food stuck episodes. Slimming is not fun but I find myself doing it often. Therefore, I don't think i need a fill or could I. My regular day looks like...small chicken breat for breakfast(8:30), 1/2-1 cup for lunch(12-12:30 and I'm hungry by then), snack (3:00) usually 4 Triscuits (because my stomach is growling) and small portion of whatever I fix for dinner, usually meat and veg and sometime a small amount of starch (7:00 and I am starving). Nights are tough for me I like to snack, usually Triscuits or cereal if I cave. Any words of advice? I know I need to tweek my menu and get rid of the things I know i shouldn't have. I am 1-1.5 pounds from Onederland and just can't seem to get there.
  6. I had surgery on May 13 and was out of work from Thursday to Tuesday. I went back a day earlier than planned due to the lack of pain. I was sent home with Percocet and only took 2, one each night after returning home just to be sure to get some sleep. The day I came home I went to sister in laws to get ready for son's birthday party and then Sat. went to the party and spent the whole day. Would not recommend this, as I was extremely tired, but that was all no real pain. Some discomfort getting up and down but I was back driving by Monday. The gas pain was rough in the hospital but walking did wonders and not being able to move in the hosp bed didn't help. Since my surgery my sister-in-law and her uncle have had surgery and have done excellent. My SNL doesn't do pain well and she made it, so I'm sure you will do great and it is so worth it!:bolt:
  7. OMG! I was wondering the same thing. A friend told me that protein gives gas. I'm not sure but I sure have a lot more than before surgery, I am 2 months post-op. Will it ever stop?
  8. The fill is working. The first few days I was not real sure but now I can really tell a difference. Foods I could eat the day of the fill are not as friendly. Even chicken if I don't chew chew chew gets stuck. Pizza which I had been able to eat has become a thing of the past for the most part. I am learning fast to slow down and chewwwwww. I am very excited though I went from 209 on my first fill June 17, 206 second fill July 6 day to 203 today. Not a big loss but I will take it, considering until for 2 weeks prior to my first fill and 3 days prior to my second I was at 209. I am a happy camper. I am strictly sticking to my diet this week in hopes of saying good-bye to the 200's.
  9. After serveral attempts I got intouch with a person at my Dr.'s office and have an appointment for the 6th for a fill. I do better during the week with the liquid diet following a fill. That is better than this Friday and having to prepare 3 meals a day for 3 days for my family while I watch.
  10. Had my first fill June 17th and I could tell very little difference from before I got my fill. Could I be ready for another fill already? I haven't lost any weight since my fill. Also, what exactly does restriction feel like or will I just know? I can eat more than 4oz but try to limit myself to no more than 8oz per meal.

    A fabulous vacation

I actually had to reread the top to be sure I hadn't written it. I was in the outer banks first of June and I must say it is my fav place. I too was not as worried about how I looked and it was great to have clothes I can breathe in. I lost 3 pounds on vac. Had a fill the week I got back and haven't lost anything else. Glad your vacation was a sucess.
  12. I was banded on May 13 and did very good sticking to my diet for awhile, then I got to where I could eat a cup or more, though I didn't push that. I was able to eat pizza and some bread. Then there was vacation I probably ate more than I should but made good choices, lost 3 pounds on vacation, I'll take that. Went for my first fill June 17 and was told that the Dr. pulled out 3cc and put back 5cc. So I am a little miffed that it was placed with 3cc's but that is water under the bridge. I have lost 20 lbs since surgery but I am still hungry, it's been one week since my fill, could I be ready for another fill already. What does restriction feel like? I think I may have some restriction as breads are not a food I can eat. I had my first bout of PBing and that was scary. I eat breakfast at 8:30 and by 11:15 I'm hungry and my stomach is starting to growl. I wait to eat till about 12-1 and am hungry again around 3:30 I eat a snack and am hungry by the time I get home at 6 but it takes awhile to fix dinner so I dont eat until 7-8. Some days I've had to eat a snack while fixing dinner due to feeling light headed and shaky. I am getting my water in, I can drink that in gulps. And am doing the 30 before and 1 hour after. Is this normal for this stage of the game?
  13. I am going into my 4th week post op and am starving! Okay not really but I am hungry. I guess some may be related to my monthly visitor but I am trying to make good food choices even if I have to snack. I haven't had a fill and am not scheduled for one until June 17. I have been enjoying Subway but no bread. I've been getting the Buffalo Chicken 6 inch with lettuce tomato onion and cucumber. I dump it all off the bread and eat it like a salad. I had that yesterday and want it again today. I this a really bad choice? I have found humor in the change in my tastes buds. Tried a french fry because they smelled so good and GROSS! Never could eat spicy before but LOVE it now. This is an amazing journey. My favorite was trying to pinch some cake from my son's birthday cake and couldnt swallow it, also GROSS.

    Subway?

You can get any sub into a salad, however, the buffalo chick sub is $4 and a salad is $5.50 and would be way more than I'd be able to eat and leftover are not great.

    Subway?

I use SparkPeople.com, and I too have a binder. Brownies still my favorite sweet.

    Subway?

Well, I eat everything off of the bread. The chicken lettuce 2 slices tomato, 2 cucumber slices, onions, 2 (1/2) slice provalone and the only sauce is the hot sauce the chicken has on it. Using the Subway nutritional info. I subtracted the bread and ranch and added the cheese and this is what I come up with: CALORIES: 150, TOTAL FAT: 6, CHOLESTEROL: 60, SODIUM: 805, CARBS: 6, DIETARY FIBER: 1, SUGAR: 3, PROTEIN: 21, VIT. A: 10, VIT. C: 25, CALCIUM: 13. I think this is pretty good. It may be more than 1/2 a cup but with no fill eating that much and I am fuuuuuull. I think I have found a new fast food item.:Dancing_biggrin:
  17. I was on full liquids for a week and could transition to soft/mushy for 2 weeks. I started with soft mushy but have pretty much eaten anything but just chew till mush. I have tolerated everything so far. Ready for a fill I am hungry after eating the 4oz alotted meals.
  18. Exactly how many calories should I be consuming during week 2/3? I so blew any number out of the water and I feelso guilty and sad. Hopefully this day doesn't hurt me.

    nervous and discouraged

I was also banded on the 13th and have lost 12lbs and stopped. I am excited for my loss but hoped to see more since I have cut my food consumption down so much. I fill up on 1 cup to a little less at each meal. My stomach says I'm full but my brain, tastebuds and habits say otherwise. It's been hard work but I have been sticking to good food choices and still nothing. I go for my f/u on Friday and hope for some encouragement from my dr. I am on soft/mushy but they don't seem to last very long before my stomach starts growling.
  20. I am looking for a website where i can log in my food intake and it will help calculate protein, calories, fat. Does anyone know if such a thing exist?
  21. Finally something besides a shake. I am so excited to be able to eat again. Wasn't supposed to start until today but did eat last night. And I haven't felt this good since surgery, I think it was the milk in the shakes. I have felt this chest pain like a burp waiting but now not so much. Grits this am but on 2g of Protein so I added an am snack of yogurt for 6g and that only puts me behind 7g from where I like to be in the am.

    Food Tracker

Tried fitday and was ah ok. Looked at LapBand.com and that was good and it uses fitday as its food tracker. Is there some secret to getting the food search to not be so vague. Yogurt has like a million ones and if you put in the name "Dannon" nothing. No sure I like this. I was able to eat grits but to find the ones I ate: grits, instant, butter flavor, cooked with water; ah nope the closest one is not even close to the nutritional values on the box which of course I do not carry around with me when I get to log on at work. Is it best to just custom enter foods. I was hoping to be able to look up foods w/o having a chart there. When i tried that for grilled chicken breast oh the choices and to just do chicken breast was like 7 protein is that right. I thought chicken/meat was a good source of protein. I am so confused.

    Let's talk nausea...

Okay, my Dr. Gave me a pill to take on the way to hosp for nausea. I was not sick at all just thirsty! The lady next to me in the room was sick. I don't remember hearing her throw-up but she sure sounded like she wanted to. By the time we checked out the next day she seemed better at least she wasn't being as rude. She still didn't look 100% but said she felt better. I think if she had wined less and walked more she would have felt better. Walking really helped even when you didn't want to. Don't worry to much about it, it shouldn't last to long if you do.
