Band erosion seems SO COMMON on this forum! Do you know the statistics of how often it happens, by chance?

Conflicting Stories from Doctors
HatheryOnHerWay replied to auntyc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I personally feel that there is a lot of misinformation being spread by well-meaning counselors, nurses, and even doctors. The gastric sleeve is a fairly new procedure in the grand scheme of things, and I think a lot of the "cautionary tales" people like to spread are actually referring to gastric banding or gastric bypass. -
Please, anyone with experience on life after gastric sleeve surgery

Perhaps focus on cutting out the carbs for now, until you get to goal. Once you get to goal, you could certainly add back in the brown rice and pasta as long as you aren't gaining weight back. Right now it sounds like your body just thinks it's at maintenance? -
I HAVE NEVER HIT A STALL
HatheryOnHerWay replied to GoldyGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Considering the sleeve is a lifetime change, I think weighing yourself once a month is a great idea! I think the sooner we can get to "normal" behaviors, the better. And I certainly don't want to obsess over the scale for the rest of my life. -
How will this be different?
HatheryOnHerWay replied to HatheryOnHerWay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my consult w/ the surgeon on Wednesday and he said I was a very good, low-risk candidate for the surgery. I sent off my payment last night...so surgery is a go for the 22nd! Hard to believe it's happening so fast! -

HatheryOnHerWay replied to Luvlvnlyfe5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was the hardest part after getting my gallbladder out, was finding a comfortable way to sleep. I'm sure it'll be the same way with my sleeve! -

My Post-Op journey so far. Sleeved on 4/2/13
HatheryOnHerWay replied to kari61's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think it's great that you're facing all these feelings now and learning how to deal with them or get past them. Better to deal with the emotional issues right away than pretend everything is ok and have them smack you in the face later on! -

I KNOW I NEED TO CLEAN OUT MY CLOSET BUT
HatheryOnHerWay replied to mommyradd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have any advice for you since I"m pre-op, but I totally know the feeling. I have a range of clothes from size 11 to size 22. In the past I kept them because I knew I'd eventually need the big clothes again, but after surgery...they're gone, gone, gone. I'm so looking forward to it. -

I have a phone consult w/ my surgeon tonight to go over all my test results. Assuming everything looks good, I'll be able to book my travel. AHH! It's really going to happen!! -
More on Gov. Christie...
HatheryOnHerWay replied to Arts137's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
well the good thing is if there are complications, it will surely make the news. -
Consider this...before, you wouldn't have been worried about a bite of pizza or pasta shells. You'd have been worried about eating a WHOLE pizza. Or a BOX of pasta shells. hehe

Has anyone lost and then regained ALL of their weight?
HatheryOnHerWay replied to AussieLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
50 pounds over 5 years is a lot more tolerable than 100 pounds over 1 year (which is what I managed to do! Eek!) -
Yay!!!! So happy for you!!! :)
