Makes you wonder...if someone needed a breast reduction medically, would these same haters tell that woman she's taking the easy route and to suck it up and carry those boulders around? -

It took me 3 years to find the financial means for my sleeve. Persevere, and it will pay off! I promise! -
Everyone is different. I was only sore for 3 days or so. I think it depends on your independent physiology, where the incisions are, if you had a drain, etc.

food taste different?
HatheryOnHerWay replied to jmarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find that the artificial sweeteners in the shakes leave a weird, sweet taste in my mouth that's kind of gross. A similar taste can also be from ketosis. -

Definitely have them check your iron levels! Many WLS folks require an iron supplement. -
sleeved may 6th..this is tough!
HatheryOnHerWay replied to Sophia ♥'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When I find myself getting frustrated, I remind myself that my sleeve is for life. This means I have a lifetime ahead of me where I'll be able to eat normal food (albeit in smaller amounts.) This transitional phase is a blip on the radar, and is already working its way into the rear view. My life right now is not indicative of my life in the future. -
Have you tried the ready-to-drink Muscle Milk? I find it far more palatable than the powders. A little high in carbs, but at least it's something!

Unexplained bruising 5 months out
HatheryOnHerWay replied to MommyofFive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could be something like vitamin b12 deficiency, but easy bruising can also be caused by more serious things like leukemia. Best to visit the doctor for a blood test to make sure everything is ok with your counts. -
This is great advice. I find that what I think is hunger is sometimes just me thinking I SHOULD be hungry.

ladies only please

Thanks so much for asking this! My period started a few days after surgery, and it was thick, black blood (more like blobs). I think some of that comes from being a little dehydrated, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that experienced this!! -
I did Medifast and lost 100 pounds. After I went into transition, I gained it all back in less than a year. If you can make the mental changes needed to sustain long-term, Medifast is great. I found out that I needed help, and the sleeve is the method I'm using to control my eating long term.

Everyone is WAY different! I had my surgery last Wednesday and was back to work this Tuesday (and felt great!)

RNY to sleeve?
HatheryOnHerWay replied to browniedates's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You can certainly lose 130 pounds with the sleeve---many here have done it. But yes, you will need to take vitamins for the rest of your life.
