may sleevers....a month out...how r u doing?
HatheryOnHerWay replied to sleeveb430's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 5/22. Still battling some gastritis and had a horrible dumping syndrome experience over the weekend, but other than that very pleased. Can't argue with results! -
Very vocal anti-WLS aquaintance is on this site...
HatheryOnHerWay replied to Pookeyism's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Since she's criticized people in the past for WLS, I'm sure it's really hard to take back everything she's said. Instead she's deciding to lie in the hopes that no one makes her eat crow. -
You'll do great! I totally understand that anxious feeling--it's a huge change. But you're taking control of your health, and I hope you're proud of that

the worst thing about the sleeve so far...
HatheryOnHerWay posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my VSG done on 5/22, and so far the worst thing about my recovery has been the disappointment of eating. When I start to get hungry, I go back to my old habit of mentally making a list of all the things that sound delicious and crossing them off one by one until I come up with the one food I absolutely must have. Every time, without fail, I will gleefully eat that food and end up disappointed. My tummy starts up it's gurgling symphony and usually I feel a little sick or bloated. I think to myself, "Hmm, well that sort of sucked." The good thing about this is that hopefully it'll break my habit of looking forward to eating like it's some sort of treat or chance to indulge. Now I need to learn to see eating as a way to fuel my body with the most efficient food that won't make me feel sick. I'm sure someday eating will be somewhat more enjoyable, but for now...it's a generally unpleasant task that just has to be done. -
Need Advice About Protein
HatheryOnHerWay replied to AggieSleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really don't like hardly any of the powder brands. Try Premier Protein pre-made shakes. You can get them at Costco, Walgreens, etc. I think they're decent. -
the worst thing about the sleeve so far...

I used to be a really big Peanut Butter fanatic. I'd easily eat 3-4 tbsp's right off the spoon in one sitting. It was getting to be a real problem... Then one day I came down with a stomach bug, and I had eaten peanut butter that day. I puked up tons of peanut butter. After that experience, I no longer crave peanut butter or even touch it. I think I'm having similar experiences with food and the sleeve. If I eat something and my tummy disagrees, I develop an aversion to it. Since most things don't sit terribly comfortably with me right now, I'm kind of developing an aversion to everything. The only thing I seem to be able to eat consistently is cottage cheese, and I'm even getting a little tired of that. I have these little plastic containers that I use, and I measure out 1/4 cup when I eat. That way I can prevent myself from overeating which I'll do if I put it in a "regular" bowl...even still, I have a hard time telling myself not to take that one extra bite. There is such a fine line between "comfortable" and "barfing in the toilet" for me with my sleeve. -

Might be helpful to say which Marriott you're referring to...I imagine there are a lot of different Marriott's in Mexico -

I mostly stick to full liquids, because they go down the best. I can eat soft foods, but since it's generally unpleasant I'd rather have liquids! haha -
I am one month post op and so far today I've eaten Buffalo Chicken, Chipotle, an entire wheel of cheese and a chocolate shake. Is that OK?
HatheryOnHerWay replied to LipstickLady's topic in Food and Nutrition
Haha, I had one of those "feeding frenzy" days earlier this week. Then I realized I'd actually only eaten some tofu, soup, and a slice of cheese. haha -
the worst thing about the sleeve so far...
HatheryOnHerWay replied to HatheryOnHerWay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Every time I add a new food, it seems like I get sick of it after having it once. The food is no longer appealing. It's so weird. -
The person you described this surgery not being for described me to a T. Because of my inability to resist eating huge amounts of food, I felt this surgery was the PERFECT surgery for me. If I couldn't practice portion control of my own volition, I needed medical intervention. So far, so good.

Unable to get protein
HatheryOnHerWay replied to Lorraine_2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A little Pepto Bismol might help with the nausea. But yeah, call your doc first. You might need some IV fluids or some other tests to make sure all is well. -
lets be honest, 1 week post op
HatheryOnHerWay replied to erikahdz2005's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate some Greek yogurt late in my first week. This was technically against my surgeon's plan, but other surgeons allow it. So I don't really count it -

Stomach aches

I am feeling the exact way right now. Like I need to either go #2 or pass gas. I am not constipated so it's weird. I suppose it could be lactose intolerance?
